  • Let’s talk about money. I’ve been on a journey to improve my money/spending habits. I was recently inspired by @ZoePritchard a fellow Montreal TH-camr to get serious about budgeting and goal setting when it comes to my money, you could say I’m entering my “rich girl era”. I decided to shake things up by looking at what I spend (by category), creating a monthly budget and setting up my cash envelopes.

It is going to get easier with budgeting and sorting finances. I also in addition to budgets and saving, I use a sinking funds system digitally within my bank. Putting money aside in recurring expenses that happen all the time like beauty, birthdays, wardrobe, gift for others , and so on. Budget how much you would need annually then save it by weekly, biweekly or monthly and be strict within each sinking pot fund (no borrowing within pots) that’s helped me overall and also using the budget split percentage

Money envelopes is how I survived moving out of home at age 17 and surviving on my own with a very low income job. It’s not a glamorous way to live, but it’s very practical.

I'm also getting into my Rich girl era. My finances are up to part with 1M networth but I'm still living like I'm on minimum wage lol. I haven't done my hair in a decade, I cut it myself and last professional mani pedi I got done three years ago, I've done them myself. It's time for me to start spoiling myself a little... starting with a $15 mani... I hate wasting my money on things I can do my self lol. Baby steps. 😊

wow that's amazing! I understand how you feel..I can't do my own nails, I've tried many times, but I feel like thats about food. I'd rather make dinner than order in.

Would love to hear your thoughts on renting vs buying (as I’m in a stage with life where I prefer renting as well)

I don't like the "headache" of owning a property. For example if things start to break, etc. For me, I find it less stressful to invest my money elsewhere than in a property.

I have been using a cash-based envelop system for almost a year and it works well for me. I also get LOADS of compliments on it anytime I pay.

Some of us are single by choice and not lack of opportunity. Nothing to be sad about lol.
