    1. believable, populated setting with plenty of urban areas
    2. smarter, more responsive AI
    3. more complex/dynamic objectives
    4. realistic gear with carry weight (or at least limited in how much you can bring with you)
    5. great audio
    These are the things the Ghost Recon community should be talking about 24/7. gg ez

    Halo did a military lead really well. Master Chief is both iconic and a blank slate because his silence speaks volumes and his few spoken lines are memorable. The fact we didn't know his name at first (and in a way we're still not entirely sure) helped too. Fallen Ghosts has precedent for this with Nomad just being referred to as "Ghost Lead." Modern GR has been sitting on the fence about making Ghosts' identities a secret in-universe, so you might as well just commit and come up with a lore reason for why they stopped using real names. In a tactical setting you do need characters to be communicating, so maybe you could have spoken gameplay lines exclusively activate as a result of a player action like reloading and giving an order. Trying to over-characterize gameplay dialogue for this kind of lead would also be a mistake. No flashy expansion, just "Reloading/Back up." Tactical bros think simplistic dialogue is *cool,* but Ubi Paris is overengineering their characters to meet a list of minimum required easily readable traits that's backfiring and making them feel bland and generic

    Well said G 👍. My main top 5 features are
    1. The open world needs to be believable, populated, and hopefully, the civilians react accordingly to your actions.
    2. Gear management system. Gear needs to have an impact on your Ghost performance. Eg functioning camo, more armour and ammo will effect speed and maneuverability etc
    3. Smarter enemy and squad AI. More options for squad orders.
    4. A more detailed and organic mission system with realistic repercussions.
    5. Upgraded gunplay and balistics.

    Please keep these discussions alive G. We're close to the release of the game and believe it or not, these videos, I'm sure keep Ubiflop on the feet. The game is almost done since we're a year out, but I think it makes a difference.
    And I thought the same with Big Frys video. I think 'Recon Tactical Shooters' have a lot of nuances than the usual tactical shooter that need to be thought out properly, a lot of nuances that are missing from Ghost Recon recent games.

    I'm on the fence with the concept of enemies seeing you 400-500 meters out. That kinda takes the fun out of stealth mechanics when some random guy from clear across the base that you can't even see can spot you and a war pops off. I do prefer more agressive AI and do agree that Snipers should be able to see you further out, especially if you are just running around in open space, but if Im using shadows, trees and walls as cover or going prone I would prefer a more arcade like experience where I'm not automatically seen. I think MGSV did a good job with that where it was fun and arcady but walked the fine line of enemies being able to detect you.

    • @GmoneyMozart
      @GmoneyMozart  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Git gud brah!
      Na I hear you but I’m done with video game ai in tac shooters honestly. Walking in front of guys at 70 meters and they can’t see me. I want the ai to feel normalized. Wait for the opening and move. Approach the base where there’s cover. Shit like that, and then when shit goes sideways, enemies actually engage me from far distances instead of running to me like morons and getting shot like the shotgun archetypes.
      Also, difficulty should tweak these settings like Spartan realism mod.

      @@GmoneyMozart There's a nice balance that could be struck with the type of mission you're on. Take away the open world aspect, and instead lets go back to individual levels, with the parameters set from the start. If the mission is going to be more action packed, the AI will detect you faster. If it's supposed to be a stealth type mission, the AI takes a little longer to detect you, and can't detect you from as far away.

    We need the story depth and attention to detail on Wildlands with the gameplay mechanics of Breakpoint. Make it a gritty, realistic and interesting setting (Invasion of US soil by Russia, Post GWOT Afganistan, Continuation of the Wildlands story in El Salvador) and ship it to us bug free. Then rejoice in the mountais of money you will be making.

  • @SynthLizard8

    The whole realism aspect of enemies being super sharp and deadly where people have to worry about ammo types and such.
    That ain't NEVER going to happen, it's not even going to get thrown around as a concept, people will see all the overwhelming options and overbearing combat and 80% of people will switch off within the first hour, people want to play more of the fantasy of a Spec Ops soldier rather then having to play as one and quite frankly, I'm with them, I don't want to crawl in the grass for 20mins, one slip up and it's mission over.

    Tbh when Wildlands launched, people thought it to be a mil sim version of GTA V.... it was only after sometime or a 2 years to be precise when people finally understood how to play the game. In Wildlands you had everything you needed. In Breakpoint the idea was to create a Survival experience which sort of failed cause of too many bugs and all. Still I love to play both games whenever i get the time.

    I feel like Fry overlooked what impact a great gameplay is to a story. Shadow of War had a generic story but the gameplay is where it's at, you make your own army of orcs, you overthrow kingdoms with them, you promote them, you develop them, make them betray their own and in the end they can betray you, you can lose them when they die permanently... this in itself IS the story, it's the journey that you make and it'll always be different between players, unique. This is what Ghost Recon should strive towards, along with a believable, plausible geopolitical conflicts as the bread and butter of the narrative.

    • @GmoneyMozart
      @GmoneyMozart  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You said it. If you have a gameplay loop that is fun and addicting the story is just a compliment to the already addicting gameplay. This is the way.

    In regards to the squad AI I believe they should look at Ready or Not’s SWAT AI as a baseline for CQB, door stacking, breaching, clearing rooms etc. For a triple A developer these mechanics should be well within their ability to implement. The enemy AI also must be able to do everything the player can, from tactics to traversal and on. And please, give us realistic missions and objectives, not just; go here, interact with computer, leave/ 2:00 enemy counter attack. The story needs to be gritty and believable. Though I had my issues with wildlands, the mission structure and over-arching narrative wasn’t one of them.

    I feel like they can take and learn stuff from insurgency sandstorm with map design and weapon design. Where there’s consequences to what’s chosen. Also go back to how GRAW mission designs were with different task needing to be done before the mission is completed but also your teammates will stay dead if they aren’t healed. But I also worry that Ubisoft would design like 10 missions like that and still sell the game at full prices like that too

And as someone who’s been playing almost nothing but DayZ this past year (after playing years/loads of WiILDLANDS and BP), I wouldn’t mind a PVPVE alternative game mode in the next GR game. I realize it’s all a HUGE undertaking and “ask” of a developer, but imagining even WILDLANDS or BP with their PVE aspects BUT ALSO, say, 20-50 other players to fight or team up with (and/or betray)…that would make for one HELLUVA gaming experience 🤷🏼‍♂️🤞🏻. No extraction stuff necessary imo. Thoughts? Have you tried DayZ, GMoney? Get past the jank, and there’s quite a tense AF gaming experience that the GR franchise *could* take/learn from.

    I want
    1 more dynamic/ better story missions
    2 better AI. I liked Future Soldiers mechanics for AI arcade management (sync shots)
    3 better enemy AI interactions (interrogation mechanic like MSGV TPP, maybe use sniper as support in solo missions like the Quiet mechanic.)
    4 more populated world, the game felt barren. I get that aurora was supposed to be a deserted island but to pretend that the outcasts or civilians wouldnt be driving in cars is silly. (I've never seen a civillian vehicle outside of an enemy base.)
    5, I don't really care for the open world game style. Give us a semi open level that we need to pick our teams for and overtime, open the world to previous levels as you progress.
    TLDR: I want a cross between R6 Vegas, MGSV TPP and Future Soldier.

    Absolutely agree G, excelent video, could've said it better myself.
    Priority-wise, as much as I dislike the Prone Camo mechanic and its implementation, I'd be far more concerned with enemy AI and the fact that they're not allowed to go prone themselves, no matter how much lead the player throws their way, which is and has always been absolutely incomprehensible to me.

      Yooooo what up bro! Ya man I’m just really trying to nail those core concepts about AI and ballistics etc. no matter how good a story and whether open world or sandbox, if they don’t improve on AI and ballistics I think any game that comes out will still feel mediocre. And I’m not sure if ubi is up to the task of making an actual tac shooter deserving of the ghost recon brand at this point. We’ll see.

    Said it before, but I still feel very strongly about it. I would like to see all variables that you can control. I want to decide my insertion and extraction options, the time of day, which day of the week it is relating to the weather, supporting assets like attack heli’s or a sniper pair and finally more customisation of my player and my team. on top of that, I completely agree with all of your points. the main thing that upset me when wildlands came out was that all AI were alerted immediately when you killed someone in a base If you look at the E3 demo, you can see that the initial mechanic was much less overreactive. I’ll never stop believing in ghost recon, but I’ve also been burned too many times before.

    1- using the current prone mechanism to hide from large drones doesn’t make sense. Where are the thermal sensors in this world of magical air and solar power and, later, “optical camo”? You have thermal, but the guys who are set up on the island and have magical technology don’t.
    His point (not having seen the video) doesn’t make sense. The prone camo should be improved: instead of being invisible, it buffs your camo; instead of being binary, it should slowly fade as the mud and foliage falls off as you move; it should apply a camo bonus if you are in the terrain from which you vegged.
    2- yes, it should be levels between the size of GR01 and SE4’s large levels. Ideally, it would allow you to choose from a pool of times with varying weather and lighting and different insertion zones.
    3- yes, it should have attributes and permanent death. It’s not supposed to be a cinematic experience. It’s supposed to make you feel vulnerable but highly effective. Death should matter. …and actually occur outside of a cutscene.
    4- PVEVP is more interesting than only PVP. Each player should control a squad or fireteam and be able to switch to any of them during gameplay, similar to what “Enlisted” has. Perhaps, teams could race to complete as many objectives before the time expires.
    Okay, I must have missed one of his points, but your requests are better. It should be about gameplay, not watching a movie as most modern games force or playing a movie like COD forces. RPGs can have that cinematic tone, but GR is supposed to be a squad-based tactical shooter. Also, squads start at 6 militia, not 4, Ubisoft.

    • @GmoneyMozart
      @GmoneyMozart  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      ya the mechanics in general are just not done well and are just at a minimum development stage. The prone mechanic being one of them due to what you said. "Oh some mud will do the trick." It's "video game mechanic" shit like this that doesnt work imo. And ya, we need a camo system, where that ability could further improve your ability to blend into your surroundings. He just wanted it removed. He didnt like it like most people when they first played the game and azreal drones were coming by every 5 minutes making you hide. But I think if you're leading off your top 5 with that, out of everything to discuss, you probably didn't think through it much and just needed to get a video up on your channel. That's kind of the feeling I had after I watched it. Very generic. Story, map, mechanic, character creator, pvp. I mean realistically all of those things could be 10/10 and the game could still suck if everything I mentioned was not improved upon. Just my opinion.
      And I combined 2 of his points sort of in that second part of my vid which was the open world/sandbox and the story.
