    What I love in this game is that it can be this tactical realism game, or just your average arcade shooter. I play both styles, and enjoy them both in their own way.

      @@GmoneyMozart yeah! I actually just started a perma-death extreme character! I'm just thinking whether or not should I build some stories for my teammates. I'm thinking of having like four of each of the teammates (Fury, Fixit, Vasily) in the "reserve".

      Yup. And it ties into the travel mechanic. Since you have to physically drive back to erewhon, no fast travel or helicopter, when they die, you feel it, heading back to recruit a new soldier takes time. So you spend time in the field with less troops.

      @@GmoneyMozart Btw , don't say they die outright , unless hit by an explosive or toxic chemical , put a time limit on them . Also , depending on the size of the vehicle , it should be 10-30 min. of gas considering the game world goes by faster .

      Or if you don’t revive them within a certain amount of time (1 minute perhaps) they get captured and you have to free them from a Sentinel or Wolf base in the region where it happened.

      I think it’s better that the devs left it to your imagination rather than restrict you more. Essentially this game can be played the way you want to play it and not restrict the capabilities for the more casual player that wants to play let’s say with no HUD but wants to use their drone. This game was designed beautifully and leaves the community to write their own story.

    What I like about these is that the player decides how realistic of immersive they want to play. For instance I won't have NVGs equipped in day time but I'm not gonna rp stealing it.

      We’ll it’s more for like if you started a new profile, and instead of just clicking a button and boom you have nvg, you would first figure out where you could “obtain” them. It’s all at the discretion of the player just to give ideas on how you could role play :)

    I like to have a 5 minute timer for my drones total battery life. Once it runs out I need to find a drone operator and 'aquire' a battery from his drone/vest

      My friends and I designate one player to be the drone guy. And he has to gain new batteries from bases we raid. Basically one use per in game day

    Good stuff! I definitely will use some of these when I next play Breakpoint for fun. Another thing I like to do is restrict certain loadouts to certain classes, which forces you to pick the right class and weapon for a mission (and adds additional challenge if something goes wrong during that mission and you’re pulled into a scenario that isn’t well suited for your loadout.) I definitely need to update my Ghost Recon: Survival game mode, it’s been a while since I’ve played it.

      It doesn't what gun you choose , realistically a medic wouldn't just use a SMG or something . Plus classes are better chosen with other people so there is a balance . If your soloing , go with a DMR , like a G28 , or a ASR , like a M4A1 .

    Nice tips G. Already was rolling with about 7/10 of these to make it feel more realistic. Definitely the way the game should have launched on immersion mode. A couple others we had in place (playing coop) was no item wheel switching. Each player set his item wheel with the items he intended to roll out with at the bivy while we recon'd the map looking at where we were going to raid. This gave an element of weight limits to the characters as well as made each player valuable and with purpose. No longer just an extra gun. If we reached a fence and no one packed a torch, we were finding another way in. We also toggled off weapon switching unless at a bivy or off a dead enemy.

      It would be cool if in the next game the items would give you additional weight so you really need to plan what to take and what to leave out. Like if you want to take everything, you can but your stamina and agility would be heavily affected.

    Great tips! One thing that I like to do is set my drone sensitivity almost all of the way down so that it turns really slowly. That way I can't use it as a crutch as easily. I also sometime use my drone and just pretend that they are binoculars ignoring the flying aspect of it. I don't like having the binoculars taking up one of my quick access inventory slots and the process of pulling out binoculars is much more cumbersome than simply pressing up on the d-pad. Another thing that I do is if I am using the drone to fly around I try and fly it back to myself before disengaging it.
    I like your idea of taking teamates out if they are downed. Ill have to try that

      I have the drone listed as special equipment for my Intel team (Intel, VIP/HVT Extraction) only for faster recon.

    The ammo loss on reload option was a decent idea but it really shows a lack of knowledge surrounding military and firearms reload training. The only time you would dump a magazine and ditch it is if you get a bolt lock meaning the mag is empty and you’re outside 25 is meters from any threats (inside 25 m it’s usually faster to transition to sidearm). If you still have ammo in your mag you do a tactical reload when it’s advantageous and stow the partially used mag to use later. But that would require a system that tracks how many rounds are in each magazine and I think that’s too complex for a video game

      Ya I’d still much rather Ubisoft create a magazine system. Games like socom had this almost 20 years ago. And then give players the ability to choose how to reload. Double tap for dump or tap for tac.

      @@GmoneyMozart reload animations in general in breakpoint are kinda trash. These are highly trained operators, I was a vanilla Marine, and I can reload faster than them lol

    I don't understand why the armored vehicles ain't armored in this game. They should be armored and used by enemy ai to deploy troops when getting alerted. I wanna see this in the next game ubisoft.

      Yeah, I hate that you never see an APC roll into a compound and disgorge a squad while laying down fire or helos flying over and fast roping in air cavalry while the gunners suppress you. Hell, even for actual light vehicles, soldiers dismount them before the actual combat area and move in on foot rather then drive it right up to you. Also feel like the back up responses should have far more men showing up. Like 2-3 vehicles rolling in, maybe some guys coming from the woods who were out on patrol being called back, a helo or two flying overhead and dropping guys off before covering from the sky.

    I really dig stripping the hud and upping the difficulty. I already have some ghost mode options like darkest night and only swapping gear at a bivoac but I might play with some of these. The suspend reality ones I wouldn't do but think they would be awesome built into the game (so we don't need to "pretend" to get the keys for instance), it was really what I though it was going to be at the beginning. Good stuff here!!!!

    It's a good roleplay options for more immersive playthrough, but you're right, most of these suggestions should have been in the game from the get-go. What's done is done...
    I would like to add some suggestions of my own for those who will start anew for this type of immersive playthrough with "roleplay" setbacks:
    - Don't get most of the passive skills, especially "Gadgets" skills that gives you crafting options! As in for a more survival approach this game claims to have, you shouldn't craft explosive devices, you only use what you find in the open world. This way, it gives the exploration a purpose to have, if you want ammo or explosive devices or any kind, wander into a compound to get some.
    - You've said this but I want to reiterate with some fine tuning: You can only craft bandages in the open world (since it's crucial to have "risk of injury" as often or always), and in bivouac you can only craft logical things with whatever you have in your backpack inventory so have to check it to craft. In Erewhon, you can craft anything that is acceptable (remember, no gadgets!).
    My biggest gripe of this, is the enemy AI was never made in mind for this type of survival gameplay, the combat engagements are almost always never fun. Enemies don't feel like human either, no fear for their lives, they behave like a hive mind zombies. Especially the breachers, they run like androids and shoot like androids, they don't even stagger a bit when you shoot at them. Breachers are more resilient than the in-game Terminators for Christ's sake :D and they ruin every bit of piece that I pour my heart to have a hardcore survival immersive gameplay.

      Great stuff Adkogz! Ya man the enemy AI is created to be killed in stealth. They have zero ability to fight as a cohesive unit under fire. This is my biggest gripe with where ghost recon is right now. It’s a stealth snooze fest with half baked splinter cell mechanics. But we do what we can with what we have.

      @@GmoneyMozart all they had to do is giving enemy AI the same mechanics that applicable to Nomad as well: they stagger when hurt and get to cover to heal and move along, try to flank and make calculated tactical movements and hunt us. You look at games like Stalker that came out in 2006, and it had much much better enemy AI that pushes you than today's games. Unbelievable...
      Plus if they add the "hunted mode" (that they promised to have in the game) that enemies actively searching us in the wild, like it felt like in the first hours of Breakpoint, this would turn the tide for the game at least a bit in my eyes. Because even though it could change things a lot, the mission design is still a clusterfuck... :)

    Another thing for the backpack, if you are using 5.11 All Hazards and you "collect" a lot of gear you can switch to Fixit's pack. It just makes it feel if you actually collected something.

    All great ideas and totally agree with all of them! One thing I'd mention is to walk and hike places. Sure parachute in somewhere, vehicle or boat in but use that as in insert point and hike into the A.O. Don't run everywhere! Also I wish they made it so you had to use the bivouac's. Maybe a mission requires you to hike in spend the night for a day or two and you can't get detected until you reach your objective. True stealth is not firing a single shot!

    I've done something similar with my friends last year with many of these parameters you pointed out. One of the things we did was if someone was downed in a fire fight we had 1 minute to get them up. We didn't heal in the field. We tried to carry them to a vehicle and get them to the nearest safehouse for medical attention. If we didn't get to them in time they were deemed a POW and the remaining guys had to raid the closest Wolf base to rescue the downed player...there would be a time limit to rescue them as they were being tortured for information...it's crazy that we have to come up with ways to keep the game interesting and relevant but it's good to know great minds thing alike...great video brother

      Awesome role-play ideas right there! It gives a sense of urgency when you provide parameters to play by especially when teammates fall in battle and you know they might actually “die.”

    Thanks for mentioning no suppressors. I mentioned this on multiple channels and rarely got a reply. No suppressors give the ai their hearing back. Even suppressed weapons irl make noise and highly trained guys would know the sounds they make.

    So I started a new game using some of these rules. I've added a roleplay element to change up the story a little. My character is a civilian who was supposed to be leaving Auroa on the helicopters. I have also added special challenges to this inspired by your rules. The soldiers on Auroa wouldn't have silencers on all their guns so until I raid the supply depot, I am using unsilenced guns. I also removed any awareness notification settings since you wouldn't know if someone was sneaking up on you or looking at you unless you saw them. It also makes me have to follow the bullets to try and find where the enemy is. I plan to only use one class, like that is what my character has specialized in. I also haven't added any teammates until I go and recruit them from the Homesteaders and Outcasts. I plan to eventually work my way up to adding in the event where the Outcasts are fighting back.

    Lots of good tips some I already follow others I don’t.
    1) I normally have cross hairs off the unless I am taking out a behemoth and using the rocket launcher.
    2) Military vehicles actually do not have keys and just have an on/off button.
    3) If you start a new play through do not activate the items. By doing this you can’t craft them.
    4) I only change weapon attachments or clothing at a bivouac. If I pick a gun up from an enemy I run with what it has until I get to a bivouac. So it is at this point if I decide to run with a suppressor on my main gun, or a compensator. I will always have a suppressor on my side arm.
    5) In regards to 1 or 2 long arms I do use two but my second one is a complementary gun. So I usually just carry the M-32 grenade launcher. But if I an carrying a sniper rifle I will carry an MP-7 with the stock collapsed with a 20rd magazine and not use a suppressor. A third option is to carry the KSG-12 since it is a pretty compact shotgun.
    6) The only reason I do not run a a play through with a Wildlands type ghost mode that has permadeath is because the boss battles have infinite spawning enemies.

      Lol sadly I dont have enough colorful loot and silly treasure chests to excite the devs at Ubisoft. I guess I’ll have to make my own game ;)

    This is almost how our team plays. We don’t have the crosshairs on and don’t have the compass (minimap light) on ether if you need compass bearings we use the binoculars. Zero hud is the way forward for us. It’s not for everyone but it changes the game. We also only use minimum med packs stamina consumption on full syringe off injury always health regen off. One team member is always medic so we can replenish life from the medkits.

      Ya binocs work great for navigation. I wish ubi just had the compass with no indicators and the medic class actually had a role to heal teammates more realistically.

      @@GmoneyMozart that’s why we turn the compass off you really have to think about what you’re doing also you don’t know if you’ve broken contact or still hunted it adds another level of suspense. Wish we had the compass from wildlands in breakpoint it was perfect up out of the way with full directional points. A lot better imo

    For an even more immersive experience you can turn crosshair off and use a laser like the MAWL-DA to aim

    I like that I'm not the only person that wants a bit more realism. I've always waited for my team to get in any vehicles, even if it blows the mission. I like the other restrictions like the petrol timer and keys on commanders/nearby enemy patrol members.
    No fast travel/shop/vehicles at the bivvy too. If I need a vehicle or change of gear I yomp back to erewhon. One difference I have is if it's just clothing then I have two visual palettes assigned which are basically normal clothes and normal clothes + winter coat, both palettes have a big ruck to accommodate. If I need hefty armour I go back to Erewhon, change to a third "Army of Two" style getup and change the injury frequency down a step, but I cannot sprint.

    he’s a tip the Amount of Mags you have on your vest you keep count and then when you out of mag you switch to your pistol until it runs out of mags. and only use A parachute when having a bag that looks like it has a parachute in it and only use it once

    Another thing i do to immerse myself is when using a heavy sniper rifle Idk what the name in game is called but basically the beretta 50 cal sniper rifle I do not use silencers especially when I’m fat because the enemy won’t know where u are anyway so…

    new player here, one thing I did at the start was make my ghost clean shaven until the 1st bivouac, I then gradually add a stubble then a beard as the mission progresses. small visual change I thought would make sense being far from home and isolated. 😎

    From the beginning I played HUD off… I only have detection on…and this the way I enjoy the game…I only wish ubisoft allow us to mod the game that way. Great video man!

    I would start the roleplay with no teammates. teammates must be "rescued" from enemy captivity (there are cages around the map with people in them that can be rescued who will then become your teammates.)

    High enemy damage isn't immersive, it's just tedious. If the punishment for making a mistake is reloading a checkpoint, that won't really get you to fear mistakes. The games with the best punishments for failure are the ones that force you to play past them at a significant disadvantage: Watch Dogs: Legion's operative permadeath, the Death Alternative mod for Skyrim, the ironman mode in X-Com. When turned all the way up, the injury system in Breakpoint offers a similar experience as long as the enemy difficulty is adjusted to give it enough time to work its magic. This changes the whole flow of combat. When you take multiple injuries, the goal for success temporarily shifts from your mission objective to finding time and cover to triage yourself. When you run low on bandages it shifts to finding a bivouac so you can craft more. Poorly planned assaults can outright fail if they consume too many resources, requiring you to fall back and try again later. Medic bags become actually useful for saving on bandages and triaging Ghosts that are low on resources. More hardcore tactical games than Breakpoint work the same way because they're at their best when teams must manage supplies carefully. The visual feedback for minor damages between injury tiers that require a syringe is poorly communicated however, so you may consider enabling your health bar as well. If you can't hear your class ability charge sound very well you might want that too, at well as the charge meter for optical camo
    Avoiding blueprints can also help with the OSP survival fantasy, with the obvious limitation that most of the DLC guns will be inaccessible
    In Wildlands we used one dedicated drone operator for the whole fireteam, but in the current year, during which this game is set, personal drones for every operator have become commonplace. You can chalk this up to an accurate prediction, I suppose. They also use flip-down mounts for Android phones with tactical positioning software, so minimaps aren't really unrealistic these days either. Pathfinders may consider using their Azrael in place of their personal drone. You also might want to lock the use of the Pathfinder class behind completing the Icarus Blues mission, the Echelon class behind completing Chapter 2, and the Engineer class behind securing any drone station

    basically bringing back Ghost Mode to Breakpoint with a few additional tweaks like replacing AI teammates when they are down - I like it! but does this mean you turn off all the drones? playing it this way would be extremely tough to deal with Behemoths

    Personally, I use limited HUD elements, compass, cross-hair for 3 person shooting and ammo counter. Couple it with thinking as if YOU'RE in Nomad's position and it works out quite nice. You wouldn't engage enemies unnecessarily and it would serve your time better to lay down and cover up to avoid getting shot at by enemies in vehicles or helicopters, you're a ghost, your job is to get in, get it done and get out so playing that way really enhances the gameplay I think.
    It would mean a lot more getting to where you're going than actual combat but that's how it would really be, a dead soldier is a useless one.

      Have fun with it. This ain’t about rules or limiting options. It’s about opening up the experience by creating a fun and immersive play style for yourself. Think about what works for you. How do you acquire this weapon? Maybe an enemy drops it? Maybe you need to find a cache of weapons in a sentinel base?

    The 10 minutes counter on vehicules is a great idea but i'd do it for the gps tracking. Most company car have one so you can assume that a paramilitary one would also track each and every one of their vehicules. For this reason i make sure to not take any vehicule all the way to erewhon.

    There are some great ideas in here. I do some of these already and I am implementing some now. My uncle was a seal so I like to role play as a seal. So when I start a new play through, I ignore the choppers at first. I go to the beach and simulate a “BUDS” type of training running on the beach, swims, target shooting. Then I’ll go through a shoot house type of training mission, and I make all my mags and muzzles blue, to indicate simunition (seals use this for training, it’s like air soft on steroids) once I get my stats up and unlock some things I want to start the game with, I’ll get in a chopper, fly over the vestige airfield, and get shot down on purpose and start my play through. Just an idea if you guys want to really get immersed in it.

    I don’t know about straight up deleting my character on death. Lol. Instead, I get captured at whatever facility I’m in or near and lose my primary. I managed to escape, but I have to free the rest of my teammates every three guards I kill in different parts of the base. If I get killed again I start over. But, this time only one teammate is at that same base and the other two have been moved to anywhere else in that region.

    I don't have the time to completely abandon fast travel, especially in the main campaign, so what I do instead is treat bivouac sites as extraction zones and only fast travel from those, After having cleared the area beforehand. I do wish they had some other options, like a proper HUD compass and the ability to turn off player icons from the map for more realistic navigation.

    Mozart am I he only one who noticed that in the original gameplay trailer nomad has a conversation with fury and the rest of the squad telling them he’s being chased and need help it seems like he really knows them I think there was a bigger idea for breakpoints story but it was rushed there’s probably hundreds of voice lines and animations centered around nomad and his squad they probably joked around and really showed character

    I don't understand why limit primary weapon to 1, tho. Couldn't you just leave it empty? Or is it gear score related?(I play immersive only)
    Leave it open can actually help immersion, as you can pick up a weapon from the ground in an emergency while retaining your primary weapon, and just leave it when you're done.

      It’s really just to create a specific “class” of soldier. With 2 primaries it’s very easy to have an assault and sniper and just bounce back and forth. So you role out with 1 weapon and deal with the different combat situations. But nothing is set in stone, play what feels good to you! :D

      @@GmoneyMozart the key is make that 2nd gun choice be compact like the M-32, an MP-7, or KSG-12. So basically something to blowup drones with or something for close quarters because a your primary weapon is a large sniper rifle.

    Playing wildlands, while taking a break from tarkov. What an amazing game!!! It’s just the atmosphere that’s right. That’s exactly what’s missing with breakpoint!! It’s that skell tech. Somehow I just can’t stand it! Anyways, I am playing with some of the tips mentioned here! That’s how the game should be played, in my opinion.

    Turn crosshairs off and put a laser on your gun it feels way better the laser is very accurate so its pretty much a crosshair it self but just a realistic one

    super late to the party but whats the significance of only one weapon? I'm guessing real soldiers also keep a side arm(does that not count as weapon?)
    Also why would a real solder not have suppressors?

      Breakpoint allows for two "main" weapons, so that is a Primary weapon and a Secundary weapon. The side arm is usually just referred as side arm. Most spec ops/soldiers just carry one primary weapon and a side arm, more than that would add a lot of weight and would be just hard to move around with.
      Supressors are not magical items which make your gun silent. They do reduce the noise a gun makes so that you don't have to wear earplugs while shooting them, but they still make a lot of noise which everybody will be able to hear. Also supressors IRL wear out really quickly. They just can't stand continuous fire so it's not realistic to have them on at all times.
      The idea of getting rid of supressors is that -In game- is more realistic not to use them since enemies can't hear suppresed fire for some reason and that is not realistic.

    Start of the game was amazing...find weapon gear and stuff and then that cave where u can buy everything is worst part ...but u have good idea I like it ...if developers listen people and ideas like this brakepoint could be much more ...little thing for suppressor...I think sniper ghost warrior had mechanic for repair supresor after couple of used mags that would be cool

      When I start a new game I never go to erewon...you eventually find all the items you use in game at checkpoints and bases. Only problem is whenever you start a new game it'll start you close to the beginning area. So I would find a bivo before ending your session and fast travel when you load in to your last know POS

      Only thing I would attach is to train infinitely lot before u start the missions, assume that u don't know everything in the game about the map,Enemy etc.. and (I know its possible) train until you're able to play smoothly and performe any activites 10/9 without mistake.

    I HATE that I can't toggle the HUD objectives with show interface button/ key. I don't want any HUD! But this means I need to open my tac map for intel. Oh well so be it. Immersion comes first.
    Also I use the drone since I play with absolutely Zero HUD it is the only way to find crates.

    I know this is one year later but I thought of something I guess… kinda of realistic. The longer you play you can age your character such as not having a beard to then another like 5 hours or something to then get like a light stubble.

      I have streams with them when I was streaming the game on hardcore mode a while back. I did 1 life, clothing, fuel for vehicles, had to steal keys from commanders to access vehicles. Things like that.

    I love ghost recon more arcadey but still at least have little immersive like using tools only when specific ai teammates like, if you want to use torch or c4 you need fury to come close to you.

      Exactly. That’s like the backpack idea. When I play and I want to take out my nvg, I call over my ai teammate and “go into their bag” to pull it out.

    Also no crouching the entire time you're infiltrating a base. It's not realistic and in real world ops are not crouching through bases. Stand up, crouch when necessary, prone when necessary..other than that stand the whole time.
    I'm convinced im the only person who doesnt crouch unless its necessary.

    No hud at all.
    All difficulty to max (except injury, bring that back)
    1 team mate customed to be same as you.
    Also drop the silencers, they are a crutch.
    Knife and pistol only til its time to go loud.
    Keep the drone, with no hud its a useful tool to look about while hiding.
