I've watched a lot of videos on depth finders when I was trying to decide which one I wanted to invest in, but yours by far is the most informative one I have ever watched as far as providing a general overview of what is out there on the market. I ended up with the Lowrance 7 Elite series, but haven't had a chance to give it a spin yet. I'm not sure I understand enough what I'm looking at when I'm looking at some of the different views. I would be interested in you doing a vid of your unit showing more of its operation since many of its features would be similar. Hope to see you on the water sometime. Thanks for posting.
I am a new fisherman, starting to research what I am going to invest in. I appreciated your professional presentation, however I found it of little help for my research. I was expecting more in-depth of multiple brands. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Lowrance elite 5 ti totalscan on clearance at "sportsman guide" $377. Wireless function allows to add tablet to front of boat without purchasing another head unit. Also check cabelas website for $100 rebate, good for any retailer in Canada or United States.
So! I'm mostly bass fishing. Crappie, and Bluegill here and there. I have a 9 ft Colorado Pontoon inflatable boat. It has a 55 lb thrust motor. I'm extremely new when it comes to depth and fish finders. I'm your "weekend warrior", if it's nice out. I'm going fishing! I am cheap, but I also want something that can mount well to my boat. Even if I half to build it myself. However, I also have no clue how to read a depth finder. Except the basic stuff you see. If anyone can provide some insight on what I should purchase, something definitely with a rain protector on it. Would help greatly. It's 65 degrees here in Louisville and I'm going fishing tomorrow. Merry Christmas and thanks for the advise in advance!
So if I was you i would look at the Lowrance 5HDI Gps. It will have some minor maping, 2D sonar and then Down imaging to give you a better idea of what you are looking at. As far as reading a fish finder I am looking for any break in the bottom and the type of bottom based on how hard it is.
For mounting on your rig. Ram-Mount makes a clamp that will work with the fish finder and for the transducer I would fashion some flat stock aluminum to go off the platform that has the battery sitting on it.
I'm looking for a fish finder for my boat and and also something I can take off and throw onto my kayak and this video alone was a big help! didn't know the lowrance had that overlay option as you showed. now I may have to forget about humminbird!
Doesnt help me at all I have a 14ft aluminum v boat an i need a fish finder for catfish an all the fish finders are like 150$ an up anything cheaper? Dont wanna spent alot of money if I'm just fishing 3x a week
Over the next several moths you should start see last years model drop in price for the new models coming out. Also check the Lowrance outlet, you can usually find good deals there.
@@BeardedBassBrawler ok any others sites other then bass pro shop? I just looked there an cheapest ones online are the ibobber an I have a boat not shore fishing lol an I heared alot of bad reports from ibobbers
I love the fact he presented the Lowrance upside down. Made me laugh, but did not take away from the presentation. Was well done!

I will stay with raymarine very easy to use & understand no clutter on the screen & not alot of menus.

Does this unit have wifi? I'm looking to be able to transfer waypoints from my Navionics app to my ff. Currently have the hook 2 5 and can't do that.
It does have WiFi capabilities that is how you can do updates.
@@BeardedBassBrawler awesome thanks!

black mamba I’m looking for the exact thing you are I have a 14’ jon boat for cat fishing. Need a budget fish finder. Did you find anything?
Just call the video "picking out a Lowrance" since there's not a single other brand in there. But then again, fewer clicks in that.
You only talk about lowrance& no other name brand
@@joeyd1841 I actually use Humminbird now.
