I just accidentally spilled boiling hot water on my left thumb and its hurting like hell, like its stinging. The skin's melted away a bit. The pain's reduced in the last 3 hours but hasn't stopped yet. Should I keep the burn open to air heal or should I put a dressing on top of it?
Update: it's been 20 days since I burned my thumb. Now there's no pain whatsoever and a new skin's formed already. Didn't put any ointment/dressing on it after the first day. It helped reduce the pain greatly.

Advice: Please, Please, find tap water immediately, as it can be life-saving. My burned area that is flushed with water was recovered within 1 week and did not feel pain anymore except some red color really quickly. While the area that is not flushed in time lasted 3 weeks, got blisters, and will get long-lasting scars.

Just mix a little egg white with coconut oil and make a jelly-like paste and apply to the burnt area it really helps.

I just accidentally spilled boiling hot water on my left thumb and its hurting, like its stinging. The skin's melted away a bit. The pain's reduced in the last 3 hours but hasn't stopped yet. Should I keep the burn open to air heal or should I put a dressing on top of it? Also, does the skin that's folded/peeled away fall by itself? Can please advise, thanks!

@@tulips7465 hey, thanks, I recovered well from it. The pain reduces after a couple of days. I applied some burn cream on the burn on the first day and it helped quite a fair bit to soothe the pain. It took around 3 weeks for fresh new skin to develop. I hope you have a very quick recovery!

I'm a 52-year-old African-American woman and I have always gotten heat rash every summer since I was a little girl. This year I got the rash as normal on my forearms and when I started scratching them, they turn to raised burn looking scars. I've had them about a week now and I've been putting vitamin e oil and also some aloe vera gel on it but they've never turned to raised scars before. Normally the rash just goes away when I stay out of the Sun and out of the heat. It's very bizarre. I never really thought about going to the doctor but I'm not sure exactly what I should do. Should I just give it more time to heal and go away?

I got burnt by a piece of metal.
No first Aid was offered or thought of due to where we were.
Now realising it had continued to burn as it was not cooled down.
Now I have a green circle in the middle of a raised very red area around the size of a UK 10p piece.
I am putting burn cream on it.
I was told 6 days later when I went to my chemist to keep an eye on the granulation (raised grainy feeling very red area around the green) if it gets bigger I have an infection.
Apparently the green is new skin forming.
The area is still painful and at times very itchy.
    What do you think?
The place I was in offered no advice or first aid and I was too shocked to think of it.
A piece of metal lodged inside my clothing when I was wearing a high neck blouse so the metal was there for a while as I did not want to burn my fingers and had nothing to get it out.
The burn is on the chest wall near the bone not on fatty or soft tissue.
3 days after the incident I asked about safety arrangements in the business I was burnt in and was told I should have been helped but no advice given.
Still hurts now 7 days later.
