They knew they screwed up and it took a couple days to find someone to deflect the blame. It's too easy to picture cops saying, "Nobody will believe her because we have badges. When she said "i'm still in there" it shook me. I have never heard anyone put it that way, and it is so so accurate. PTSD robs you of your every day life, and your mind is stuck in an unsafe and scary world. That defense mechanism just never turns off, and it is so exhausting

@McChicken -I don't recall her saying that the door *didn't lock.* You can see her turn back to kick the rock out of the way, and pull the door shut. She might have been in such fear - with adrenaline, cortisol surging, in "flight" mode - that she didn't notice it not clicking into a licked position. Why else would there be a rock there to prop the door open temporarily, as needed, if it *didn't* lock/function notmally?
You're *_victim-blaming._* Instead, direct your accusations at the 376 police officers, chief in commnd, SWAT team and other LEOs there, *_doing nothing_* to save the children and staff.
To the lady in this video, from someone who has PTSD related to school, I can assure you this much:
Yes, you are going to feel dead inside for months, possibly years. You're going to feel helpless, broken, and lost. But please remember, this will pass eventually. This will pass and you'll come out of it even stronger. You can make it out alive and well.
You may live with this trauma in the back of your mind. But the overwhelming feeling of regret and misery won't last forever. Stay with the ones you love, seek the help you need, and whatever you do... Don't bury it. Cry, scream, sob, talk, rant, or tell about what happened. Do whatever you need to do to get it all out of your system.
You can heal and move past this.
She has so much trauma. She does deserve a settlement and an apology! These shootings are so awful.

I’m not gonna lie when she said to her therapist what she said when she rode past the school and she said I’m still in there that hit me and I understood what she meant by that because look at her in the video you see she got long hair black hair you know she looks pretty healthy mentally an interview her hair is gray and short from all the stress and PTSD and that happened with in months she’s going through some really bad PTSD

My elementary school had a special needs program with the type of discipline you could get in psychiatric hospitals. There was a room in between the two special needs classrooms called the intervention room. It was a blank white room with padding on the walls and a small closet sized room inside with a lockable door. You were put in there if you had a tantrum, were disobedient, or fell asleep in class. I spent probably 1,000 hours of my childhood in that room. I have PTSD about it today. Every time I saw that school again, I would feel like I'm still stuck in there.
You can feel how much she cares. So incredibly heart-wrenching.

This woman did what an decent human should do is run to help a person she thought was legit having a heart attack. Even under all that stress she has the brains to kick the rock and shut the door. I hope she gets the therapy she needs and heal. It is a tragic horrendous event but you deserve peace from it - not to let this monster who attacked take it from you. I pray you get it.
This good woman was so brave to gather the shattered pieces of her soul to even do the interview. Thank God her actions were on video so that the cowardly cops couldn't gaslight her. May God heal her and give her peace.

She needs to sue the State of Texas for false statements of her character. And then she should move Far Far away so she can possibly heal.

Is this what trauma happens to you? Shaking or shivering uncontrollably due to damage in your neurological system? My god....I am just shocked and feeling very sorry for Emilia of the reality she was forced to witness and endured. The truth was ignored.
Late but I don't have any physical injuries but I shake like that when recounting my past trauma from an abusive childhood. Or when lightning hits too closely because I was almost hit as a kid. Literally stuttering over words and making odd movements and it's entirely involuntary. You have to talk through it like it isn't there. Your body is going to do as it does.
All of the law enforcement that did nothing while those babies were being killed should be fired. Blaming this poor woman is a tragedy. God bless this woman

I have experienced trauma. I just want to tell that lady: It's going to feel like you died for a long while but don't let go of the hand of God. God will heal your wound if you let him and whenever your ready. You did nothing wrong and there is absolutely nothing you could've done against a firearm.

There’s an innocence in all of us in some way, shape or form. A belief that if you’re a good person and do what you should, everything will be fine and you’ll stay out of trouble. And then something happens that strips that veil from you and you can never go back to where you were just seconds before. That’s what makes me sad for her. She will never feel that level of safety or comfort ever again and in its place there will always be a level of anxiety that sits there and vibrates

This poor woman. They tried to blame her for their poor training and awful response time to this tragedy. Officers waiting outside while there are children dying. They couldn’t take leadership before or after. I am so happy she got to tell her story and prove her truth.

Uvalde law enforcement and Texas law enforcement blamed the victim and she was one of those victims. She may not have died, but she is still traumatized by it all. To be clear, I am a native Texan and live in Texas.

As someone who’s currently in severe trauma therapy for PTSD (EMDR/CBT) she has a long road ahead…
every person should be enraged to see Martin shaking like that, revisiting the event after doing everything she possibly could. mccraw and every other official who lied needs to be fired and their benefits clawed back for distribution to the families of Uvalde.

It's about six months later and I'm only just now learning that this was a false claim, the retractions are never as widespread as the misinformation. This teacher is owed more than just that
