- We just got home from an incredible 4 night cruise onboard the new Carnival ship, the Luminosa! We had a fantastic time and the ship was beautiful. It was a Costa ship before it was purchased by Carnival so it does not yet have the iconic Fun ship features such as waterslides yet. We still loved the ship, and had a wonderful holiday!

My daughter and I were on the luminosa around the same time. It was my first cruise and I fell in love with the Luminos and all the staff were sooooo lovely. Thanks for bringing the beautiful memories back x
Hi Sally. I’m also taking my soon to be 10 year old daughter on the Luminosa. We are both very excited! But haven’t done a cruise before. Do you have recommendations or tips eg what kinda clothes to pack etc?

If your daughter wants to make friends, the kids club is a great place!! When my brother and I were younger we used to have soooo much fun there.
I highly recommend the main dining room for dinner as the food is great, and the service is fantastic! For lunch the Mexican on the deck was delicious and the buffet has lots of options! There is also a self serve ice cream machine on the deck which your daughter may enjoy 😂. The shows at night time are usually very good and I just recommend getting involved or even just spectating the trivia (lots of fun actually) and different activities as they can be hilarious!
In terms of what to pack, an empty water bottle is a good idea as you can fill it up from glasses of water at the buffet etc. so you don’t need to buy water. It’s very useful! I don’t know what ports you are going to but we just took normal everyday clothes, our swimmers, as well as some nicer outfits for dinner each night. There will be elegant night where people dress up a bit more, but it’s up to you whether you participate or not!

The cruise director Simon London was brilliant! He was so much fun, and seemed to be everywhere all at once. The Fun Squad were also super enthusiastic. All of the crew were fantastic!!

Awesome video mate very impressive ship yes I am booked and paid to go to Airlie Beach with Carnival luminosa on 29th January 2023 with a balcony totally looking forward to can't wait this will be my 4th cruise since 6th September this year I have got 2 more after this one please post more videos of your cruises, Royal Caribbean are doing a cruise with Quantum of the seas to Airlie on 10th March for good fare my son got a interior room for $706 thank you once again mate.

Love the crew dancing at the restaurants . Is that every night at a certain time or just random ?
It is lots of fun!! They did ‘showtime’ every night in the main dining room. They did it twice a night, so once during the early sitting and once during the late sitting! I couldn’t give you an exact time sorry!!
You could always ask them, the staff are very helpful 😊

How strict are the face mask mandates?
Hello! They didn’t really enforce it. We all wore them when entering the theatre, dining room, and walking around the buffet. But most people took them off as soon as they sat down anywhere and lots weren’t wearing them when walking around the ship. So not strict at all!
