costa luminosa was my favourite ship,my dad works on costa’s ships and when i went to go on cruise every year i always almost went on costa luminosa,so sad to see that now it is carnival and no longer costa,that ship has all of my heart inside of it,i will always regret being shy and not dance all night on that ship,i will always remember the fun i had with costa workers on it and i will always keep that in my heart,i’m happy that the ship is quite all the same as it was before,it brings up so much memories and i want to go to carnival luminosa and live again that moments that i had with my all time favourite ship ❤️
Hi Sarah, We're actually quite glad that she retained so much of Costa rather than becoming full Carnival and she has a lot of support in Australia because of that. We were big fans of the P&O Pacific Dawn and she was due to go to the scrapyard until Ambassador in the UK bought her and now she is their flagship. We are just grateful that she has been given an extra lease of life and I think we feel the same way about the Luminosa, although we maybe don't have as much attachment to her past as you do. Take heart in the knowledge that she is still giving pleasure to many people, even if she isn't the Luminosa that you knew. Thanks for the heartfelt comments and our best wishes go to you..
Hi. It really was a very stylish ship and we loved it. So different to some of the large floating hotels which also have their own charm but in a different way.
Just booked for an Alaska cruise on this ship for August 2024. It will be different since we have only done Caribbean but looking forward to the different decor to go along with the different itinerary. I like the retractable roof feature on lido that makes it more versatile year round. Serenity looks nice and open decks, different layout being at the back of the ship, sunset bar🌅

I am sailing on the 22 days from Brisbane to Seattle and I have watched other youtube videos stating this cruise doesn't have Guys Burgers, no water slide, and some other Carnival options. I personally could care less, but you have made the cruising option up to date. Thanks again. Ed
Hi Ed. Thanks for the comments. We would love to do some of the longer cruises, especially the international ones but they may have to wait until retirement for us. As for the ship, the burger bar on the Luminosa was great, like the other extra food stations so no issue with no Guy's Burgers for us either and, to be honest, we have to wonder whether water slides wouldn't actually spoil the beautiful style and design of the ship. Just got off Luminosa from the NZ and the shorter nowhere cruise and I really liked the ship. How clean everything was and how there are things to do for everyone. Watching this after getting off on Sunday last (after this post) brings me cruise blues lol and places I had been and actualy slept on lol. Bring on March going back on. :D
Hi. We get cruise blues every time we get off and usually end up heading straight to the computer to find the next one. The ship really was beautiful and we loved the Italian styling. We're not back on the Luminosa until April but definitely looking forward to it.
Really great video. I'm never too sure what to expect from Carnival (we don't get many Carnival ships on this side of the Atlantic), so am always fascinated by videos touring round their ships. This one looks beautiful!
I know I'm probably the only person on the planet who feels this way, but I love how the illuminated signs on the ceilings are still in Italian, just as they were on Costa Luminosa. I hope they never change.
Hi Joshua. Thanks for watching. I don't think you're the only person at all. It might not be traditional Carnival and some of the 'die hard' Carnival fans might not like it but we think that the Italian styling has great character and love the3 way that different ships have their own kind of persona.
We're exactly the same. Heading rapidly towards retirement age and keep spending money on cruises. What dates at Easter have you booked? We're back on the Luminosa on 2nd April with our girls and Ali's parents.

Nice video.. While in the spa you stopped the walk through and didn’t show the different type thermal rooms.. Do you have footage of the sauna etc and different steam rooms.

Hi Paul and Cindy. That would be an awesome cruise and one that is definitely on our 'to do' list. The mics are Rode wireless Go 2. 2 mics, 1 receiver. We are still trying to work them out as we haven't used them much yet. They do block out a lot of the ambient background noise though which is good if there is music playing so you don't get a string of copyright claims. Have a fantastic cruise.
Hi Deb. It is a very different style of ship and I think that's what we like about cruising. There is something nice about familiarity but then something different keeps it interesting. The point is, I guess, that it's all about cruising. It's about meeting new people and just enjoying being out there on the ocean visiting different places. Sounds like you have the same kind of view on it too.

Hi and thanks for the comment. The Luminosa really came to Australia as a half finished, at best, Carnival ship. It has great character but none of the Carnival upgrades that the other ships have. She doesn't appear to have any time scheduled for upgrades until at least 2024. Plenty of character but we can understand how people may be disappointed if they have cruised on other Carnival ships.
Hi Susan. You should get an email advising you of the requirements. It says that you will need to do a self administered RAT within 24 hours of boarding or a PCR test within 48 hours of boarding. Although the email doesn't mention it, many of the Australian cruise lines ask you to take a photograph of the result next to some government issued ID and evidence of the date and time. Might not need to show it but they do do random checks. We printed ours out as well as had them on the phone just in case of a technology failure. If you don't get an email it's on their website at - www.carnival.com.au/legal/covid-19-legal-notices. We hope that you have a fantastic cruise and if there's anything else you need to know please ask us.
Hi Ross. There is no regular karaoke in a set venue like on some of the other cruise lines but they do have some. On our 7-nighter there were only 2 karaoke sessions, 1 was at 4pm in the Ocean Plaza and one at 8:15pm in the Limelight Lounge. Not sure how much they alter the program for 4-night cruises but if you want to get an idea of the sort of activities they do (lots of trivia) have a look at the daily planners for the week that we put up on our website. Ali does carnival require negative Covid test. If so when do they contact you. Leaving on Sunday have not been told anything.
