    Most of the 44's have a master stateroom -- the one you looked at is an unusual layout. I like the simplicity of a single level wheelhouse, low bridge clearance, protected props, and economical 12 knot cruising. Staterooms separated into two hulls afford ample privacy for kids. Dinghy launching and retrieval is a piece of cake. Wide side decks for line handling in locks -- quite critical on the Great Loop.. There are usually three or four Endeavour 44's on the market but the pandemic has driven the used boat market insane. If the Endeavour 44 doesn't fit your budget or preferences, keep looking.

      Thanks, John. We really do appreciate the suggestion. We looked for a few weeks and this was the best one we found on the market. We totally get the benefits (and get that boats are hard to come by in this market). We really appreciate the suggestion and the merits of this design (just not a good fit for us for this particular adventure). Thanks again for the suggestion!

    You guys are 100% right. People need to think about how to show their boat online. Pictures that have a narrow focus, jump into the middle of the boat and then you're outside the boat and then in the galley... Man, Start at the back and get on the boat and post the pictures in such a way as people would look at the boat. Also take some time and clean your boat. Pick up clothes and stuff. Honestly it defies explanation how some of these ads get posted like they are.

      YES, YES, YES! You're going to like next week when we take on all these issues. It's one thing if you're an amateur private seller but some brokers are posting ads like that. UGH!

    I've never seen the two bedroom two bath layout in the Endeavor 44 usually it's a 3 cabin layout with the master forward

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. It's not as much space as you'd think (at least from what we're seeing). We don't think we're catamaran fans. I totally get why you'd want a multi-hull bluewater sailing boat, but for our looping purposes, this is not going to do it. Cheers!

  • @Jethrosgarage
    @Jethrosgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That davit/support structure on the back looks like somebody spent some bucks on custom stainless fabrication! Upsides to cats, low fuel consumption and stable in choppy seas. Downsides! Somewhat less open inside space (though each individual sponson looks like the cabin in a small monohull sail boat) and the beam is wide enough you may have difficulty finding marina dockage.

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that structure looks pretty crazy! I do get that there are advantages but it just generally isn't for us. I totally get how you'd be stable in big seas and can cruise along economically but for a year with our family I think we've eliminated catamarans from the list now. Thanks for watching!

    Cheers guys!
    Not familiar with the Endeavor trawlers but looking forward to hearing what you think! (Note: I'm commenting as you progress through _YOUR_ review)
    To my eyeball, this Endeavor looks like a sailing cat that's been "converted" to power. The slab sides are a give-away to me as is the _VERY_ vertical bow section. That center section with the "living room" area and the galley down to the port side would be the salon on a sail cat (plus side, lots of room for the kids!).

    .
    After the end: While I do like that there is a dedicated washer/dryer combo unit on the boat I'd be reluctant to pay even $150k for it. There are too many things that would need updating in the electronics (that is an OLD Raymarine unit for the radar) and the engines/genset probably need a thorough overhaul. That said, I _like_ cats for their stability and seakeeping ability. For the Loop though, except for a Bahamas jaunt and the time spent on the Great Lakes, a monohull would likely serve you guys better. Problem there is, for three cabins (even if one is a "coffin box") it'll be very hard to find something in good shape that's both under $150k and under 50 foot. Keep an eye on Zoffinger, he just had _both_ engines replaced on his Chris-Craft and he's still having problems!

    • @Jethrosgarage
      @Jethrosgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe he had the LONGBLOCKS replaced, but a lot of the external components such as cooling system etc were transferred over from the old engines.

      @@Jethrosgarage Yes, so there is little telling just what is driving him nuts now

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no doubt with his drive, attitude, and engaged audience; he'll get it figured out. It's often the overlooked engine peripheral stuff that gets you. The guts are all brand new, just need to make sure they're sucking cool water and exhausting it properly. Really pulling for him (and following closely)!

    You know when you’re complimenting the dinghy you’re really digging to find something nice to say...😝
    Such an odd boat - I almost like it for that. But ya, too many little broken up spaces, strange furniture, etc. Plus not sure I want to be making dinner RIGHT next to the head? 🤢. Don’t know if you guys follow Gone With The Wynns or not - now THAT’S a gorgeous cat. (Everything about the Wynns is gorgeous....LoL). But it’s sail and I think was another $150K more expensive. I agree with others who have said that for protected, and at times congested, inland waterways and marinas - monohull is likely the best bet. Fun to look along with you tho!

    • @Jethrosgarage
      @Jethrosgarage 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a point that it's not a "dinghy" it's a "tender" lol I work on big megayachts (marine diesel and gen tech) and they have custom built tenders that have fold down consoles so they fit up inside the "garage" area of the yacht.

    Completely agree that’s a thumbs down for the cat from me also. Do you have to pay more at marinas for a cat due to their width?

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about paying more (as a general rule) but availability could be limited as they would usually put you on the outside or on a big T-head. If you had to take 2 slips because of your beam, I bet you'd have to pay up.

    Great videos! Im looking at a Sea Sport 3200 outboard powered catamaran. Brand new $140k? I wish they made em bigger though only 32 feet

    • @onFIREfamily
      @onFIREfamily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a killer looking boat and a lot of brand new boat for a pretty low price to enter. Easy to swap out modern outboards too should the need arise. Yeah, bigger would be pretty awesome but it looks like they pack a lot into 32ft.

    I hate to say but those two small cabins are hideous how on earth would you make up the beds, and then you have to climb in from the foot, never seen anything like that, I was thumbs down early on... and then you have the beam to think of for marinas not all take cats, or charge much more.

    • @onFIREfamily
