The excellent new Leopard Power Catamaran available in 40 feet
The success of the Leopard 53PC and Leopard 46PC has reinforced Leopard Catamarans' world leadership in the cruising power catamaran market. The arrival in 2023 of the Leopard 40PC completes a modern range, entirely reinvented, and specifically designed to meet the highest requirements of comfort and seaworthiness.
With its sharp lines and very contemporary design, the new Leopard 40PC is immediately identifiable as part of the new generation of Leopard power catamarans. Like its 46- and 53-foot predecessors, and like the sailing range, the side glazing runs the length of the planking. The sleek roof cap elegantly integrates the largest flybridge ever seen on a 40-footer. It also protects from the sun's rays, with a transparent roof that offers a 360° view to enjoy the infinite number of possible destinations fully. Onboard the Leopard 40PC, each living space provides an enriched experience of life at sea.
Outside, the spaces are numerous and impressive for a forty-footer: aft cockpit, flybridge, aft decks, sunbathing areas accessible through the side decks or directly from the saloon via the front door, a Leopard innovation present on all our models since 2010. There is always a suitable place, whether for some quiet time to yourself or significant moments of conviviality.
Alexander Simonis / Simonis Voogd Design - Naval Architect: "This new Leopard 40PC has been our biggest challenge. It is a smaller version of the Leopard 53PC or 46PC that offers a similar comfort level and performance at 40 feet. One of the main reasons which makes this a real challenge is that power cats are getting much more weight and trim sensitive as they get smaller (more critically, getting shorter). Intense research into our CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools has enabled us to achieve exceptional excellence in this size.”
Once the large sliding window is opened, the charm of the new contemporary design of Leopard's accommodation is apparent. The L-shaped galley is fully equipped on the port side and allows for truly gourmet cruising. At the bow, the comfort of the saloon is immediately apparent from the quality of the upholstery. Opposite, the interior steering position provides maximum safety, with a perfect peripheral view of the sea while remaining sheltered from the elements.
The three cabins all benefit from generous island beds and sea views in the hulls. The two heads located in the passageway on the port side and forward on the starboard side offer a spacious setting with a separate shower. Nothing disturbs the comfort of the passengers because the two technical areas at the rear are separated, isolated, and accessible only from the outside. They are equipped with two engines of 250, 320, or 370 HP, all in line with the exceptional reliability of the brand. Promising to reach 17 knots at cruising speed and more than 20 knots at top speed, they will ensure a large autonomy at lower speeds to satisfy the requirements of the most demanding cruisers.
Franck Bauguil - VP Yacht Ownership & Product Development at Leopard Catamarans: "The Leopard 40PC is a totally new model, in line with the 53 and 46. It offers an entirely new volume and comfort, particularly in the cabins. Finally, the performance at sea - speed, fuel consumption, stability, and reliability - is in line with Leopard Catamarans' world leadership in this segment.”
The first launch is scheduled for the end of the year in Cape Town, South Africa. This is perfect timing for a world premiere in February 2023 at the Miami boat show, followed by a European presentation at the International Multihull show the same year in La Grande Motte.
The Leopard 40PC will also be offered for charter and owners under a management program at The Moorings, where it will join the fleet under the name "Moorings 403PC". - กีฬา
Captain Steve has got to be the best boat reviewer out there. I've been watching this dude since I was 12 and now im 24
Jake, it wouldn’t be worth doing is no one watched. So thank you for that. Really appreciate you.
Sick boat and no one shows'em better than you!!

Powercats are simply amazing.
Love your content. Need to up the vocal volume a bit
Sorry about that
I didn't know you got your own channel! Awesome work Capt. Steve. When you weren't on Boat whatever anymore (won't say their name), and asked them about it, they went on about their other hosts. Nobody beats Capt. Steve
Far be it from them to answer a direct question. Glad you found me. I appreciate you watching.
One of my dream yachts right here. Thank you, Captain Steve for showcasing it

Love it ❤, awesome loop boat and liveaboard.
It seems to be taking over the loop crowd.
Glad I found your channel! Love your boat reviews! Thanks for posting Capt. Steve!
No, thank YOU for watching.
Thanks Captain Steve! 😊😮😊
Thanks for watching.
Captain Steve has set the bar so high for boat reviews, that it's hard to watch anyone else!
Really appreciate the kind words. But mostly I appreciate you watching. Thank you for that.
Dream boat! Only, concern would be taking big waves over the bow in rough seas. Not sure how the glass door would handle that. Thanks Capt. Steve!
It’s very thick reinforced glass and the door is watertight. Thanks so much for watching.
wonderful
Thanks for watching.
Great review!
Thanks. And thanks for watching.
Captain Steve I see you jumped ship and got your own channel.Awesome review 2 years till retirement can’t wait to cruise out on the water.
Awesome. Jealous level=10. Thanks for being here.
Very impressive boat. Very impressive review.
If retirement were in the cards for me…
Missed you over at boattest. Wondered where you went. Good to see ya again
I’m glad you found me and I really appreciate you watching.
But Capt Steve, what about the engine room/engines? That's what I was most curious about! Thx, --gary
It’s coming Gary. That video is still in edit.
Impressive living space with finish!
Such a comfortable boat.
Such a comfortable boat.
Hi Captain Steve!! This is roomy for it's size. I can see myself island hopping in the Exumas all winter on her. Are you doing a test video on her? Great video as always.
Thanks and stay well,
Jersey Lou
Yes I am. That one is still in edit. It will be out shortly. Thanks for watching. I appreciate you.
Why didn’t you show some of the most important mechanical components like engines, water maker, etc?!
That will be coming in the next video Dave. This one was a features vid. The ops video is still being edited.
I imagine you would have to dismount the radar going through Chicago (where that fixed bridge is), unless there is an extremely low profile model I don't know about.
That’s got a clearance of 19’6” so this works.
@@captstevetests Agreed, it would be just a minor inconvenience
@@captstevetests 19'6" just clears the Eastern bypass for Chicago, the Western route through Chicago has a 17' max airdraft clearance
Nice and roomy for a forty footer, be interesting to see what price point it's at.
Cabinet work looks a bit flimsy which lets it down, other than that it's a nice looking boat.
It's around $1.1m which is reasonable.
I like your videos
On these “test” is there any chance you can show some real sea conditions and how the boat handles when it’s blowing a gale, the swell is up , auto-pilot is engaged, and you’re vomiting your breakfast over the side
In my experience, that’s a real life test
I’m going to eat some Chinese food and work on that for you. Thanks for watching.
@@captstevetests as a marine engineer I’ve been a fan of your videos for years
So get some egg rolls and get testing 😂
What do you think of the build quality issues that have been discussed with leopards as well as warranty issues from Robertson and Caine?
I’ve met several owners of Leopards who are on their 3rd and 4th models so the build quality is garnering a lot of brand loyalty. Haven’t heard anything about R&C warranty Issues.
Capital Steve, is it possible to remove some furniture up top on the fly deck and put in a jacuzzi?
You could do it after market but Leopard won’t do it. It would add a lot of weight up high and affect the stability adversely. I’d save that plan for a larger boat.
@@captstevetests Thanks captain steve, happy to see you back on the TH-cam. :)
@@gregoryneal-qu1tq Appreciate you watching.
We want this boat but a little scared as this will be our first big boat. Can' you add a joystick to it, I think I read Dockamate works ?
I hear you but I think you’ll find that it’s a remarkably easy boat to handle. Those props are so far apart that you have excellent control with just the throttles and the wheel kept centered. Dockmate would be an option if you get a bow thruster but that allows the same level of control as the helm. Just adds the ability to move about the boat. You could also hire a delivery captain to train you up. But really, this isn’t a hard boat. You’ll be fine.
Good job on the review/ sales pitch. but have you seen owners reviews on leopards? Everything starts falling apart and thet are not very good with honoring their warranty.
As the owner of this Leopard 40 PC. I can tell you so far our experience has been great. We owned a Leopard 48 in the past so its our second Leopard. After our initial shake down Leopard was all over our punch list. Headed to Knoxville , TN from Fort Lauderdale as I write. The boat has performed awesome so far. No issues. Plan to run it back and forth to Florida every winter winter. Eventually the great loop. Keep you posted.
I actually haven’t heard one complaint from the many Leopard owners I’ve met with. Most are repeat buyers.
How does it handle on the water?
Like spreading melting butter on toast. I’ll have a performance review coming soon. Thanks for watching.
He could drive me nuts ………….
Have you parted from BoatTEST?
I have. For about a year now. Went to another company but they shut down when the owner had a heart attack. So it’s this channel now and I appreciate you watching. Thank you sincerely.
@@captstevetests
Well they tied to replace you with three others, still not working.
Actually… six others.
the galley seems to be made but Ikia. Way too many sharp corners and edges to get hurt on while under way.
Engines?
Total price?
You can get 250, 300 or 370 hp. Price is around $1.1m. The ops video will be coming out next.
Price?
About $1.1m
@@captstevetests Thanks so much for your reply .
STEVE
Thanks for watching Joe!
Beautiful boat but we need Leopard to start making HYBRID version
That would be cool!
Made in China is all I have to say. Oh wait, one more comment: old school craftsmanship is gone!
Well, that ugly stripe down the side of the hull has to go.
The bench seating in the cockpit facing you into the boat instead of facing you to the outdoors is a negative.
but the absolute worst, automatic fail is the convection microwave. Microwaves cook from the inside out with radiation, convection fans do nothing to benefit microwave cooking. Convection ovens are regular ovens with fans to even out the hot spots in the oven for even baking and a conventional oven cooks from the OUTSIDE in, the reverse of a microwave.
That is why a convection microwave is an automatic fail and not willing to even look at the boat.
I'm imagining myself sitting in the inside smoking some good weed, getting high.
40 feet for a power cat is too small
Not at all. Step aboard first. You’ll be surprised.
