    R36 Rear end is done! Definitely took me a lot longer than I expected to put it all back together, but a good learning experience nonetheless and will make all future projects like this a lot easier!

  • @Russell_Duncan

    Enjoyed that. A lot of hours gone into that and plenty new metal too. That’s going to be one well sorted car by the time you’re done. Remember to check that rear prop-shaft coupling. The outer steel ring gets seized to the plastic shoes that it’s supposed to float on and it’s stops the coupling from doing it’s job of dampening vibration, especially under acceleration in the higher gears. Looking forward to the next instalment already 😎

    Looking good, just a couple of tips, should give all the new bolts a light coating of grease makes it a lot easier to take apart in the future and lower the car onto the floor to torque up all the suspension nuts and bolts or if you have a gearbox stand jack up each corner individually and do it that way 👍

    Should have put antiseize on all the bolts though when mounting everything back. I just did the rear end on my bmw and i have lubed the heck out of every bolt so they will NEVER rust or be stuck again. Did this on my other bmw many years ago and its still a dream to work on all these years after driving in salt and snow. Definetly worth it!

    • @cg7975
      @cg7975 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A very good point sir. But remember never put copper grease (sometimes known as "anti seize")on steel bolts going into aluminium. General purpose grease is fine - and obviously keep it away from rubber bushes. Copper grease is maybe ok for steel into steel, but in some applications namely aluminium it wreaks havoc.
