Out of all the snare reviews online I’ve seen for years, you my friend tune them the best and your playing is sick!

Love the Aluminium shell. Every ally snare drum i hear has that nice dry ring to it. This one especially.
    Thanks Nick. 👍

I like the tone of the brass snare drum overall, the Gs007 throw-off mechanism is an excellent design and all of the drums are of high quality and well made. I can think of a number of pro drummers that would love to have one of these snare drums. Well done!

With the HD Dry heads I can't get a feel for the overtone spectrum or sustain/resonance that these drums are capable of producing. I'd rather hear them wide open knowing I can manipulate with external muffling if needed.

They are great made drums I own the trick brass. But those heads make the drums sound very muffled and dry! Put on a cs reverse dot and crank up that puppy.

Titanium snares are so consistently amazing, owning one of those is 100% on my bucket list

    That titanium is niiiiiiice!

Ah I was wondering why I didn't really like any of them; those HD Dry heads are not my thing. I like the ring, dangit! I'd love to hear that brass drum with a black dot or an Ambassador X.

Exactly! They sound like the cardboard boxes they ship in. Let them breath! We can add muffling to tame excessive overtones or sustain, but you can't add them back in if they aren't there in the first place.

Black one with the flowers sounded the best anyways ( in my option )

Great review as always Mr. DiVirgilio, but may I suggest you mention how the drums are tuned when you review different types of the same drum? This can really help give a clearer picture as to how they sound. (Of course, tuning the same type of drums consistently is probably your s.o.p., I just don't remember you mentioning this before, in which case, pardon my ignorance.)

Prefer the Aluminium, however, all good.
Trick certainly makes great sounding snares.
Not sure about their prices, in comparison to the other top quality brands.

The snare on your set sounds similar to a Pearl Free-Floater (maple version) - at least in my headphones. So that's incredible! I would never have guessed it was metal by that warm sound.

Would make more sense to use the same hoops on the aluminum as well.

Would be better comparison if they were all tuned the same IMO

It was a bad idea to play them with the dry heads, these drums can sing, when they are used with the right head...
They should have used Evans uv1 or hydrolic, or any other head that got overtones.

Did I miss an angled bearing edge or is there one?

    • @dandadrumman
      @dandadrumman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

He states something about bearing edges but he is incorrect. Trick drums usually have double 45-degree bearing edges. *Source www.trickdrums.com/custom-drums/
Also, have been playing Trick drums since 2008.

Those snares do not sound good at all. Likely the choice of drum head. They sound choked and have no life. Need to hear them sing.
