  • Many of my viewers have reached out to ask how to buy exotic cars like the ones I have owned. I admit that I didn't know much about how to buy an exotic car when I bought my first one. I was worried about losing a lot of money to depreciation, maintenance and repairs. I sought out the advice of others and the best recommendation I received was to become a member Exotic Car Hacks. I joined in 2020 and learned all the tips and tricks on how to get into and out of exotic cars for the least cost. It worked! I decided to restore the black plastic on my 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac step bars using That Black Stuff trim restorer. My truck has 183,000 miles on it and these step bars were showing signs of wear. Applying the product didn't take long at all and I've been happy with the results the last time I used the product.
    I previously used That Black Stuff on the stow hooks on the side of my Ford Explorer Sport Trac Bed. They're still as good as when I first applied That Black Stuff 9 months ago! It's a great product! Check that video out: • Faded black trim resto...

    WOW. Impressive results. I am a detailer and I have never heard of this product before. I have heard of Solution Finish and it's a very similar product designed to do the same thing but to be honest, this stuff you showcase here looks to be a better option. I haven't seen a competitors product that makes the plastic finish so dark black and fully restored back to it's original look. I will definitely buying some of this stuff for the plastics on my vehicles. My wife has an Outback and it has a lot of plastic on the newer Outbacks compared to older models and this product will be perfect for the purpose of keeping the black plastics in top condition and looking brand new! Thanks for posting and the demonstration of the application. I can't believe how easily that product brought that black trim back to a factory new look like it rolled right out of the showroom. A ceramic coating will no doubt add to the longevity the product will last.

      Glad to share it with you. I have since sold the truck but it held up way better than I expected. I talked with the owner of the company and he tested this routinely before offering it to the public.

      My pleasure. I wanted to spend some time allowing the original work to sit outside in the elements to provide a follow up and then start with the step bars. I'll probably do another one as I have more plastic surfaces to treat.

    wow that's awesome.. that plastic strip thing on the bottom of the body in front of the rear wheels on the i8 that's faded could probably use some of this

    Did you put a second coat down? What type of ceramic coating will you use. Thanks as always great tips.

    • @PatsGarageOnline
      @PatsGarageOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I applied a second coat off camera. I DIY install Avalon King and have videos of that on my channel. I've used it on all my cars and it's so much easier to apply than wax and lasts longer.

    • @golt4576
      @golt4576 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PatsGarageOnline thanks Pat i checkout your ceramic application. Yes I agree it does last longer and is easier. I haven't had the courage to lay it on my own vehicles yet.

    • @PatsGarageOnline
      @PatsGarageOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@golt4576 I also didn't have the courage to try it out for several years. Being 46, I know what's worked well for decades and was resistant to give it a try. It's almost too easy and deceiving that it's actually protecting anything, but I've installed it on 3 vehicles now and have gotten in the habit of applying it to brake calipers after cleaning them when I remove the wheels, just so they're easier to clean as well.

      No problem with rain or washing the vehicle. No drips. It's still the same after this long.

    Can it be used on any black plastic, like side mirror housings?

    • @PatsGarageOnline
      @PatsGarageOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, as long as it's plastic and not painted. Typically, a black plastic part has a texture to it that fades over time.

    Don't waste your money on this junk. I bought mine from the official store it never come and they didn't refund me. So i got my replacement from Amazon. The result is just terrible. Streaking all over it never cover up any damages and it readily wash away after a week.
