    In this video I share with you my attempt to restore my problematic trim on my Subaru Outback. With numerous textures and varied issues from zebra effect, fading, and matte black trim pieces that are stained and ugly, this is my final effort to restore my trim. Let's take a closer look at the application process and final look. They say it should last up to 200 washes guaranteed. Be sure to subscribe and follow for updates on longevity and how this product lasts.

    Good addition to the arsenol. I used to, and still use VRP; but recently tried GTechniq C4 (recommended by Dallas Auto correction) for trim from door handle upward. I was very pleasantly surprised at the factory new finish it brought. Is priced high 15m @ $14.

    I gotta try these...those B and C pillars look like they can be machine polished to a high gloss. If the Cerakote prematurely fails on them, hit it with your DA and your Optimum hyper polish, they should shine up pretty good.

    • @lorrainewilliams7896
      @lorrainewilliams7896 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Having even worse pillars, I was going to hit mine with 3000, then 5000 grit wet dry sandpaper, then polish and seal to see if that would bring them back. I don't know what the previous owner did, but it looks really bad. I am going to try the Cerakote first.

    What I found that helps around the lettering and very tight areas, was to take a cheap sacrificial soft paint brush and squeeze lightly into the package ( if there is no fluid left in the package) and use the paint bush with the cerakote. Other than that good video. How is it holding up for you?

    So it said to use Dawn on my packet of this. I guess you thought that CarPro Eraser would be better? I have that as well. I wasn't sure if I really needed to do anything before applying this because I just washed my car with Purple Power RV and Boat strip wash. But I am going to have a heck of a lot of this leftover if it lasts for 200 washes. I bet I don't use more than 2 packs on my car and I bought 2 whole bags! Guess I have some Christmas gifts on my hands! I guess you can't use this on interior light gray door jambs? Have you ever tried that?

    • @attention2detailswchelsea

      Id stick to exterior surfaces and if they recommend dawn then go with dawn. I used Eraser as I had just done a rinseless wash and wanted to remove any body oils on the trim pieces and eraser is great at removing oils.

    Thank you for the video. This appears to be similar to Wipe New, a Rust-Oleum product which produced great results on a 20 year old Volvo wagon. They key to success with any of these products is a thorough cleaning of the surface. Wipe New recommended using a trisodium phosphate (TSP), an inexpensive cleaner. I used TSP in addition to Meguiars Super Degreaser. due to the age of the vehicle Wipe New lasted about 2 years, but my Volvo was mostly garaged.

    Hey Chelsea, nice vid. If could suggest trying Gyeon Trim Coating. Has some self cleaning properties, will keep blacks black, and greys ( I've used which turned out great on), and should last up to about a year. I believe the chemical resistance is pretty good as well. Its around $40-48$ or so. Hope that helps. Pretty user friendly.
    When you did the 4 tired coating test, the Optimum tire dressing, did you use that full strength or did you dilute it? I couldn't remember how you used it. Full strength or diluted 2:1? If you have the time, I had two questions for you non tire coating related. Any way I could email you? you can reply when you have time.

      @@lockergr No exposure to heat at all. Their support says its a chemical reaction when you apply their coating, let it dry then go over it again. It goes crystalized white. I think maybe with a really old vehicle that had badly weather worn plastics it might prove more reliable.

So, in that regard I think that when I get a new car I will leave the physical decon and paint correction to the experts. At least I'm messing with and experimenting with an '07 and not a new ride. As in the saying you get what you pay for, Its guaranteed to last 2years or 200car washing s, The instructions state there trim restorer works best on textured plastic and not smooth flat
    surfaces!! Also for best results pick a overcast day or apply in a shaded area and not in direct Sunlight!! Anyways you did a marvellous job looks amazing!! 🫡😎👍
