Normal noise dude. It's running perfectly, and you need to also remember that that little engine is using a comparatively MASSIVE timing chain, and a very over built timing and valve train. It's going to last a long LONG time if you simply take good care of it. That is one of the best, most durable, and efficient engines you'll ever see in a modern car. Rough, yes, but it's a 3 banger. And sometimes, a little extra noise is a GOOD thing... Sorry that I'm just now seeing your video, and typing this comment, around about 7 years after you uploaded... I hope you chose to keep the car, the later model years, 2018+ are much more refined, and offer more and better equipment. I own a 2019 ES 5 speed, and I'm smitten with it. To give you some idea, my other main car is an S-Class. Love them both, like the perfect children.

I have a 2018 mirage es. Had it since 3k miles in it. It's now at 125k. It's a normal noise. It's a 3 cylinder engine so it isn't as stream line as 4 and up ones on operation. It shakes and makes that noise all the time due to this and the pure size of the tiny engine.
I'm a Mitsubishi technician and their is a service bulletin on this issue! take it to dealer and you will get an ECU reflash! If that doesn't correct the noise then you will get a new engine installed!!!
For a solid year I thought I was the only American with a Mirage. I didn't see another until a year into ownership, in Portland. P.S. this noise is normal
I own one, 2015 Model, 3 cylinder engine, it's NORMAL, MOST of the "rattling" comes from the Hood Prop Rod, (It's not very secure).. PLEASE use GOOD OIL 5W20 Synthetic Oil, I just rolled over 20K no problems AT ALL Love My lil car.. I'm a Full fledged Mech BTW..
Yep these are just the normal sounds of the 3 cylinder. My 2015 Mirage ES and 2017 Mirage G4 SE sound like this. As you say the rattling is true and the small air intake tube shakes and rattles too if you hold it you can hear that go away too. These are great cars and these engines will run forever!
1. Did you ever put the map sensor back in? 2. I have a 2015 Mirage has done this since day one and at 160,000 miles still runs great and i even pull a trailer with mine.
I have a Mirage and that click is coming from the air intake. If you hold it while it runs it will stop. You can’t expect a lot from a motorcycle engine 😂😂

There are metal grommets holding the air intake down
3 or 4 screws
Remove the screws and get rid of the grommets and re tighten
Boom no more rattling.

same here, my mirage hatchback 2016 glx model, has a sounds like that during coldrun, but the sounds gone when the engine is hot

Didn't hear anything particular wrong with the engine sound. It's probably normal for a 3 cylinder. I got a new mirage and sounds the same as well.

Same problem here. I just removed the pistons. no more noise.

try having the engine tuned up, if the noise is still there, try changing your engine oil to a 10/40 fully synthetic. :) hope this helps.
I just change to 5w40
Do not switch to heavier oil on a modern engine, doing so can cause the engine to function improperly. Stick with 0w20 (all 0w20 is synthetic)
