- Here is what i used to coat the inside of my Jeep TJ frame. The Eastwood Internal Frame Coating coverts and encapsulates the rust. Check the link below to where I purchased this product. I really like this product and would probably use it again. I definitely wish I got at least one more can. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck and don't forget to subscribe! Thanks it means a lot to me!

I did this on my ZJ. I used a sewer-jetter with a spinning tip on my pressure washer to blast out old rust and debris from the chipmunks that were living inside prior to me purchasing it. The jetter worked great and pulled a lot of loose rust, sand, leaves, and acorns out of the frame. I used like 4 cans but don't feel like it was enough. If I could do it over I would also buy a gallon of rustoleum and a cheap sprayer and just spray the hell out of the frame with it until it oozes out everywhere.
After a few months I sprayed fluid film all up inside.
Yeah I would probably do the same. I will be doing fluid film to mine this year
My '05 TJ Rocky Mtn frame was surprisingly in great condition despite living in Ocracoke Island. The first owner did a great undercoating. But that was over 15 years ago. I'm going to do a Line X undercoating with this Eastwood frame internal coating by memorial day weekend.
That's awesome! I was told this jeep had a good frame. I checked it the best I knew how. After a week or so I checked it again and I was able to punch a good sized hold on the drivers side rear in front of the tire. I was like what????? $800 later... stay on top of it
@@jones_edition It took me three months to find this Rocky Mtn. Drove my wife crazy because we were sharing her car. But it was worth it! The frame is first and foremost. Definitely wanted a TJ with a 4.0 I6, 3.73 gears and a Dana 44. Of course, had to replace the rear main seal and heater core. But outside of these, everything is solid. I passed on at least 7 TJ's, the frames were bad and or were 4 bangers and had a Dana 35. Have to be patient. And you have to take care of these. The TJ's are the last true generation of Jeep. I couldn't imagine driving anything else, well maybe a CJ-7.

@@JeepTJWheelin man that's a cool story! Sounds like you found a diamond in the rough. Hang on to it! And believe you are right about the last real Jeep!
Recommendation for treating your rusty frame: Use compressed air to blow out any loose debris from inside your frame, then rinse thoroughly with water to remove dust and other particles. Allow to dry, completely. Using a sprayer with a long (2 ft.), flexible hose, spray the inside of the frame with "Renown HD23 Acid Bowl Cleaner" to dissolve and eliminate rust (Renown HD23 Bowl Cleaner has a very high hydrochloric acid content and it works better than products made, specifically, for eliminating rust on metal. See link, below.) Allow bowl cleaner to dissolve rust, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry, completely. Next, using the hose that comes with "Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator" (buy one can), attach hose to can of "CDC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor" and spray the inside of your frame (see links for CDC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor, below.)
For the exterior of your frame, scrape, grind, etc. to remove as much surface rust as possible, then spray with Renown HD23 to eliminate remaining rust. Rinse, thoroughly, and allow to dry, completely. Apply CDC Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor to outer portion of frame.

I'm not sure whether you can paint over top of the CDC product but, if not, you could apply some Rustoleum rust inhibitor paint to the frame and then coat with CDC.
That's some good information! Thank you! I will check out those products
@@jones_edition Alternately, rather than using Renown HD23 on the outer portion of your frame, you could use Xionlab's rust converter product and, then, paint with Rustoleum or similar product. Xionlab link: th-cam.com/video/opSFbmpavXA/w-d-xo.html
Good job man! I have 3 cans for my LJ sitting in my garage for 2 years...im lazy.... can you mention your prep work (cleaning process) i have just hosed my frame off.....from left to right with my garden hose....thanks and stay safe.
Yeah good point I forgot to mention the cleaning process. The main thing I did was clean out all the loose rust from inside my frame I have two videos on what tools I used for that. My inside frame wasn't real greasy so I just hosed it out several times to make sure all the dirt and loose rust was out. I cleaned it for several weeks a few hours at a time. I probably went overkill on my cleaning. My outside frame is really greasy from a slow oil leak from the value cover. I used a degreaser from auto zone to clean all the oil from the outside frame. Worked really well. Let it sit for 15 mins and then hose it off. Hope that helps some! Thanks for watching!
Get a flexible magnetic tool and work at it. Takes time.
How do you clean out the frame first..? Not so much rust but just things like piles of dirt collected inside?
I have seen people use pressure washers or just a water hose. I ended up drilling new drain holes in the bottom of my TJ frame to allow alot of that kind of stuff to get out better. Hope that helps.
Personally, I use rustoleum by the gallon, and put on as many coats until I happy. Harbour Frieght has $20 spray guns you can rig up your specialty nozzle. Get after that outside frame with black semi gloss before winter. w.w./OK
Good idea! I will look into that. My next step for the outside frame is to apply POR 15 asap. Thanks for watching and the tips!
Love it
Thanks brother! Its been a process for sure. Can't wait to put the POR 15 on.
surprised you didn't use respirator when you were spraying it.
Yeah I should have I tried to stay up wind. That's my bad. I'm usually in a hurry and sometimes forget. But I need to be better at that!
Do you have new jeep wrangler jl did the internal frame coat by eastwood?
I'm not sure if I understand your question. But I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ and I used 2 cans of the Eastwood internal frame coating. I wish I did 3 to 4 cans. Let me know if you had a different question, sorry! Thanks
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the comment
It is not a cure all. I had a sense of false security with it. Better than nothing. Don't be fooled by the lifetime guarantee. I will say after some talking they did replace the 3 cans and I did it again. My jeep is currently get a little framework right now. Jeep should be ashamed of the TJ frames. And don't let anyone tell you you're I the salt belt. I have an F-150 and car in the same salt belt with zero rust or problems.
Definitely! I will keep an eye on it. I.keep mine in a garage and I try to limit the salt exposure as much as possible while still enjoying it in the winter. It's crazy how bad they rust out. They should be Ashamed!
