JAKE, I have traded the markets for 40 years and what you have done in a short time can be done regularly. I find you ability to analyze information on a wide variety of subject to be unusually impressive. I find your gift rare. Ignore the critics and continue with your genius. There are no limits. Thanks Dan! I don't make these videos to be popular. I could make WAY MORE money from TH-cam just making "buy" videos on all the pump and dump hype stocks I mentioned in the video. My goal ever year is for my investment income to be higher than my TH-cam adsense revenue. I honestly can't say that is true for other finance TH-camrs. I don't accept criticism from people I wouldn't take advice from. So we'll keep this going strong in 2022!

Thank you bro 😁👍 Back in early 2000’s when I had a Scottrade account my brother gave the same advice as yours. I did mot listen, I was greedy and wanted more than 7.5% yearly gain, I was greedy as well as believed I could predict the market. I was wrong and lost more to 85% of my over 20 years savings in 2008. I went depressed for years. Recently, early 2021 I started trading again with TDA and since I have not change mu trading style I have my account went from 222k to 91K. Terrible situation. I must learn to accept small safe gains rather than large risky ones. I need to learn to trade options safely. Thank you for your honesty and I wish you all the best. .
Hi Jake, great job and I appreciate your transparency. I started following your channel at the beginning of your 2021 stock challenge. I didn't follow all your trades but did have my first + 250% trade with Apple calls, inspired by one of your videos. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Thanks TNB! I'm making a video this week with my 2022 Stock Market predictions. Additionally, everything I am holding in my Schwab account I still feel confident will go up. I'm 80% leveraged on long calls still... so, I hope the market keeps holding, lol.

Jake dropping some painful truth bombs, lol! I am a stock and crypto investor and what you said is spot on -- folks gotta beware and not just FOMO in or think they're gonna get rich overnight. I invested in Shiba Inu, but not as a pump and dump, I'm in for the long term as I believe it has some potential once they get further along on the roadmap. I had losses on some cryptos but made some gains on others and learned my lesson, so I'm sticking with ones that I feel are long term, like CRO and HBAR (I'm thinking 5-10 years out). You're one of my go-to channels on stock investing, so keep doing what you're doing, thank you!
Good video Jake. Congratulations on the money you have made. I think your advice on investing is better than Dave Ramsey. This year of 2022, I am going to buy 100 shares of Verizon VZ and 100 shares of AT&T T. I am mostly a mutual fund type of investor. I like mutual Funds like VWELX, FXAIX, VBIAX, VIMAX, and VFSLX. I the type of person that buys and holds mutual funds, and puts money in when the market is down. At 50 years of age, I am more conservative when investing. I want to try trading options. I have stocks like XOM, MO, and CVX. I've the divided that the stocks pay.
Congrats on the success! I am thinking I'll just buy and hold SWTSX in taxable. Use it in a couple decades to retire early hopefully. Your older video on taxable accounts really made me think.
It's a great strategy! If all you are doing is buying and holding index funds, then you aren't paying taxes year to year in your "taxable" brokerage account. Cheers!
You had a great year Jake, congrats on that. I do like most of your advice, but on Crypto and by that i mean BTC and the larger cap coins. I think you miss the mark. I have dont really well there... I have been watching your option videos and plan to learn that myself this year... it seems fun and interesting... thanks for all the videos Jake and Happy New Year
Thanks Manar! I'm going to make a video this week with my "2022 Stock Market predictions". Additionally, everything I am still holding in my Schwab account I still have confidence in. Thx for transparency Jake! Congrats on beating the market u demonstrated why ppl still go w active funds. U paying higher taxes means ur making money still🤔
@Jake Broe Your goal of 100% per year I feel is unreasonable for other traders and I feel it can blow up during down markets. If you can consistently increase your portfolio by 20 - 25% annually you are doing very well. Congrats though on the great trading year in 2021.
Hey Mike! Over 70% of my net worth is buy and hold long term investments in S&P 500 index funds in my IRA, 401k, Morgan Stanley and now my Fidelity account. I'm not trying to get a 100% return on all of it. I am just looking to make a 100% return from my active trades in my Robinhood and Schwab accounts. If I blow them up, I'll make a video about it. But to say I'm "poisoning the minds" of people by promoting literacy on my channel in technical analysis and fundamental analysis is a bit dramatic. Check back in a year and we'll see if I can do it again.
@@JakeBroe I apologize for being so dramatic. You are absolutely right. But I wish you could teach a more conservative approach and goals. I tend to do some long term holdings, sell ATM covered calls, sell cash covered puts and sell short vertical credit put spreads. I'd like to become more confident so I can buy more calls. You are doing the right things IMO but I get concerned when I hear 100% expectations. You are right though we all have to practice our own strategies and try to do what is best for us. I will edit my original post.
@@anipopescu It's okay @Jake Broe had a problem with my comment "poisoning the minds" of young investors. He thought it was overly dramatic. He was right. There is another way to say it without offending him. I still have the same concerns and beliefs. The thought of trying to make over 100% in returns annually can sometimes get new investors in trouble. Thanks for your input @ani Popescu. Jake and I are still good. He is trying to educate other investors and I encourage that as well.
Jake I’m glad to see your success in 2021. I am new to trading and did the complete opposite except for not trading bad crypto. I suppose it is the price of tuition.
Glad you found my channel then stacks! I'm going to be posting more frequently on this channel about active trading starting in February. Let's plan for a solid 2022!
Happy New Year , Jake What do you think about COST., SHOP , WMT ... credit or debit Spread options When you starting new Challenge. .I would love to follow your advice ,and do the same challenge. . Thanks
Happy New Year vijay! I'm currently in the process of moving across the country, so I'm going to start a new brokerage account challenge starting in February! Cheers!
your video about the fed was incredibly insightful. i need to read that book. please please review COST, TM, TSM, NKE (AAPL was great!). i want to put my sitting cash to work but which way is everything going to go and when? everything is generally overpriced, costco in particular, with 10 year treasuries net losing money to inflation. that’s all changing and we know it’s changing but what do? strange times. congrats on an amazing year. i dont think i’m alone in saying there are few people who deserve it like you do. now let’s see how you do in a bear market!
Jake, your channel is so underrated and let's keep it that way! You've got a nice little community here and thank you for your insight and knowledge you share with us. PS... with those returns you've made Nancy Pelosi might start following your trades! 😜
Haha, well, I really want to make it to 100,000 subs so I can get my silver play button, but beyond that I don't see the need to get much bigger. Thanks for the support and here's to a profitable 2022!
Haha, I don't want to talk about Tesla stock because it upsets people when I talk about it. The fundamentals of the company make no sense to me. I just don't get it, but that doesn't mean the share price can't keep going up.
What’re your thoughts about doing your active trading (options) in the Roth, and the buy/hold strat in the taxable account? I’m rearranging everything this week, and trying to decide between the two..
Hey Lance! There is a good argument to be made to do this. All the short term trading you do in an IRA is not taxable. And if in an ordinary brokerage account all you do is buy and hold, then you don't pay taxes year to year. So this is a tax efficient strategy. I personally right now would rather just keep my retirement accounts where I do passive investing because that is what they were designed for. I don't know, I'll have to think more about that.
Hey Andrew! I can trade put options on stocks that go down same as I did call options that went up. It will have no impact on my process and decision making.
Thanks Jake, another great video and appreciate your investment approach. Have you considered buying puts on over-hyped/over valued IPO's? I bought a put on Rivian when it was high and made a small profit. Wondering if that is something you've considered. Thanks
Hey Joshua! I have considered it, but unfortunately these stocks are easily manipulated and turn on a dime on any news. I think when I do start shorting the market as it downtrends, I'll find over valued stocks that nobody cares about and is paying attention to. That seems like the safer money bet.
As I understand it... quarterly payments are estimated on last years returns, and I didn't make anywhere near this much money last tax year. They also won't penalize you the first you that you underpay. My estimated quartely payments for next year are going to be very high and I'll start paying them next year. Cheers!
Hands down the best TH-cam finance channel 👍! My goal for 2022 is to learn and get into options trading. Btw Jake, what books do you recommend for a new trader? How did you learn all those skills in that short period of time? I know you follow some TH-cam finance channels, but I want to better understand the fundamentals from books. Thanks in advance!
Hey Rabik! Unfortunately I cannot recommend any good books on trading options or active trading because I have not found any. All the books that I think are worth recommending are general finance, index investing, or value investing. Options trading and active trading is so volatile and unpredictable, that there just isn't a credible book to learn it from unfortunately.
@@JakeBroe thanks for the reply. Thankfully I got your playlist and I’ll go through them once I’m done reading a couple books I bought on general finance.
Interested to learn your strategy for the IRS. Will you use tax software and list each individual trade. This could easily amount to pages and pages of documentation.
No, I don't have any sell limit orders set for HCI. I'm just holding until we get the press release for the TypTap IPO. I've definitely committed to this idea and have to see it through for better or worse. It actually looks like it has finally found support between 80/85 and won't go any lower. I think we will know one way or another this month.
Hey Arthur! Those are the same thing. Yes, if you hold the options position for less than a year, than I am taxed at short term capital gains which is the same as my marginal tax rate.
Thanks Bruce! I think the appeal to chase views and clicks is what drives it. Excitement gets clicks and they talk about stuff after it has already gone up huge... which is the worst time to buy in almost every time.
Jake you are the best you are genuine about what you say and do. I see a-lot of you-tubers and the only thing they want is for you to subscribe and hit the like button they never tell you anything but I would like you to do another video on the back door Roth thanks for for your service and helping me with these stocks.
Can you write off expenses against your earnings with options? I would probably need to buy books, attend conventions, have an Internet connection. My cell phone might be important to the track trades. Do you know what is a right off in this arena?
That's a good question and I think you can if you become a registered trader with the exchange, but that requires a minimum amount of capital that you trade. It doesn't matter because I just deduct everything I want to deduct from my TH-cam income (books, subscriptions, etc).
Cathy definitely had a bad year but ARKK has still outperformed SPY since inception. Do you really think her strategy will continue to underperform, and if so why?
That's an entire video. But I've looked at her main holdings in Roku, Teledoc, and Docusign and I'm just not impressed. Most of the companies she invests in can't make a profit and are massively diluting share holders. Those three companies I mentioned all have services that can be easily replicated and overtaken by Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, and existing Healthcare companies. I just don't get it.
309,000 cars is not a metric for evaluating whether a stock is over valued or under valued. Ideally Tesla should be growing ever quarter, so every quarter should be "record sales". The question is how much future growth has already been priced in?
One swallow doesn't make a summer. But if you achive this in this year again, then the only logical thing to do is open a hedge fund. 100 thousand subscribers (people to whom you proved your result) deposits $1000 each. I will be the first one with my deposit.
Haha, thanks Wes! We'll get it going and see what we can do. I'm so close to being able to just focus on this all full time for myself. I'm in the process right now of packing up and moving to Las Vegas.
Hey ebg! I am not a financial advisor and I don't give financial advice. All investments have risk. But generally I say on my channel that if you don't know what to invest in, you can't go wrong with the S&P 500 index fund ETF (SPY or VOO). Cheers!
@@JakeBroe I sincerely appreciate your response. I recently diverted 20k from my work 401k account. Bought a few individual stocks. I like listening to your own journey and I wish I can imitate what you’re doing but I know it takes research and knowledge.
Are you making a video on paying taxes? If you have 20k in taxes to pay, does that mean you have that saved in cash? Reinvesting at the end of year means you would need to sell during tax season to pay your taxes?
Hey BazookaX! I did mention in the video I have like $26,000 in cash in my Fidelity account. But I have also been saving my Air Force and TH-cam income the last couple months and I have almost $30,000 in my checking account. I also have to pay taxes on my TH-cam income in addition to my investing income. I'll make a video about all of this when I do my taxes in February.
@@JakeBroe Thank You, Sir! I made an assumption this was the case. I personally keep my checking low and put everything into either short term savings goals or investments. If I did well and didn’t think about it I would have tied up my money into equities. I will keep any eye out for that video in a few months!
How did you do with at&t?I got mad that all of a sudden last week a lot of stock journalists started talking about at&t when it dropped to 22.50 and made the price rise back up. I want it to keep dropping. What about you? And why?
Hey D L! I'm not currently in AT&T and haven't made a trade on it in probably over 6 months. I think it's done falling. It's going to probably trade sideways for a little bit and then trend back up before it's stock splits in June. If you are short on this stock, then I would get out.
@@JakeBroe I'm not. I lost some money when it dropped from $32, to $29 or $27 when I sold it. I was hoping for it to drop to the floor before the split. I guess it makes sense that the powers that be would want it to be as high as possible before the split happens, to preserve their interests and capital. What's a good buy in point in your opinion? Both before and after the split. And which shares are you sensing will ultimately be more valuable? T or Discovery?
When you earn money from the Air Force, that's real work. You are making a contribution to the defence of your country. When you earn money from TH-cam, that is also real work. Because creating original videos requires a lot of thought, care, research and hard work. But making money off of investing? Isn't that just an educated form of gambling? Isn't it a type of wealth without work? Isn't it it true that one investors profit is another investors loss? I know it takes time and effort to do it, but when your money is going up, someone else's money is going down. And some of those people are poor to begin with.
When you look at her assets under management, many of her investors actually haven't given up on her. She performed so poorly in 2021, that I actually think she has a good shot at beating the S&P 500 in 2022. We'll see!
I don't think I would want that kind of pressure or scrutiny. If an existing hedgefund exists and reaches out to recruit me, I think I would go work for them for a year just for the experience alone. Cheers lombardo!
Hey Jake, let's just say I find out before the new year, I will owe the IRS about 30k. Will it be wise to spend nearly 30k on business equipment so that the IRS can only tax with what I have left? Or am I wrong on this one?
Spending $30,000 doesn't stop you from owing $30,000. Spending money lowers your taxable income. Let's pretend you were a sole proprietor and made $100,000 and had to pay 30% in taxes or $30,000. If you then spend $30,000 in business expenses, then now your taxable income in $70,000 and you still have to pay 30% in taxes or about $21,000.
I’ve been rewatching your old finance videos and the saga of Ukraine. Any chance I could get you to unpack Nancy Pelosi’s $5mil $120 Strike Call contracts of Nvidia in your next general commentary video?
Great returns!! I took losses for tax loss harvesting on some of my bad investments in nov and I got rid of some good ones too. I sold my rental real estate so I had capital gain from there. However, I have some realized gain in TSLA and I am thinking to take the profit. I have a question about 401k investment..I think sp500 may go down this year with rate hike and tapering down. Would you just invest money right away or hold off 401k contribution in like stable fund and move money when market goes down? I generally max out 401k in first 3-4 months of the year and this is the first year with all money in roth 401k, so I am afraid I might put all money at high cost. I know you can't really time it, but it seems like there will be downside for sure... any thought on it or you can make video on these long term investment plan for 2022.
I think there will be a 10% correction in the market at some point this year, but that's always a buying opportunity. Nobody can predict when that will happen, so I think you just just keep dollar cost averaging in to the market evenly every month throughout the year. If there is a big dip, then maybe quick load in more. Cheers aPI!
Haha, I'm just being modest. I know these are crazy good returns. But I definitely could have made more if I was able to focus on this full time. My Air Force job just consumed a lot of my time. But I won't have to worry about that in 2022.

Thanks Manar! I'm going to make a video this week with my "2022 Stock Market predictions". Additionally, everything I am still holding in my Schwab account I still have confidence in. You can check out all the videos of what is in my Schwab account here:

@@JakeBroe great thanks Jake!
You took some risks and it paid off over the past few years. From youtube to option trading. Congrats on the success.
Thanks Mr. Berry! Cheers!
Thx for transparency Jake! Congrats on beating the market u demonstrated why ppl still go w active funds. U paying higher taxes means ur making money still🤔
Thanks K Mque! I'm not worried about the taxes. I'll happily pay them to make this kind of money. Cheers!
Love the transparency.
Thanks muffemod! I appreciate the continued support!
@@mikemorrow4876 a nice conversation. Why edit…honest concerns are welcomed. As long as people exchange ideas, there’s no loss!
@jake do you think gold will ever go down or will it continue to rise?
Jake I’m glad to see your success in 2021. I am new to trading and did the complete opposite except for not trading bad crypto. I suppose it is the price of tuition.
Glad you found my channel then stacks! I'm going to be posting more frequently on this channel about active trading starting in February. Let's plan for a solid 2022!
Another good one Jake! Thanks for sharing. When are we getting your discord channel?
Hey Walter! The next month of my life is all about packing up my place in Minot and moving to Las Vegas. I will look in to this starting in February!
@@JakeBroe Awesome! I look forward to it. Btw, small world AF world. I realize that we have a friend in common on FB. I sent you a friend request.
Happy New Year , Jake
What do you think about COST., SHOP , WMT ... credit or debit Spread options
When you starting new Challenge. .I would love to follow your advice ,and do the same challenge. .
Thanks
Happy New Year vijay! I'm currently in the process of moving across the country, so I'm going to start a new brokerage account challenge starting in February! Cheers!
@@JakeBroe Thanks, Jake
Good Luck in moving ,and stay safe and healthy
your video about the fed was incredibly insightful. i need to read that book. please please review COST, TM, TSM, NKE (AAPL was great!). i want to put my sitting cash to work but which way is everything going to go and when? everything is generally overpriced, costco in particular, with 10 year treasuries net losing money to inflation. that’s all changing and we know it’s changing but what do? strange times.
congrats on an amazing year. i dont think i’m alone in saying there are few people who deserve it like you do. now let’s see how you do in a bear market!
Thanks Jeff! I definitely will be looking at and reviewing more individual stocks once I am doing this full time in 2022! Cheers!
@@JakeBroe that's right i forgot you're doing this during a move! wow, much appreciated with the response and the 2022 predictions video!
Jake I'm going to join your membership when you go full time trading after you get out of the Air Force.
Thanks JDion! I appreciate that!
Jake, I noticed that you didn’t mention Tesla as a ev stock. Do you consider it a tech stock? And do you also consider it a good long term stock?
How do you think you would do in a bear market?
Hey Andrew! I can trade put options on stocks that go down same as I did call options that went up. It will have no impact on my process and decision making.
first comment about taxes? how about beating the market. good work man.
Haha, thanks marciuks! Cheers!
Great content
Hi there what was your ROI? Thanks
Hey mt! It's different for each account, but overall I am up over 100% between these three accounts.
@@JakeBroe thank you.
That seems like the safer money bet.
have you considered paying quarterly taxes? Or are you okay with the penalty they impose?
Hey FSC! I use turbotax and it just imports all the data automatically. Inputting all this manually would be a nightmare. I couldn't do it.
Jake - Do you have a limit order set for selling your HCI? I picked some up at $87 and would hate to miss that sweet IPO money
No, I don't have any sell limit orders set for HCI. I'm just holding until we get the press release for the TypTap IPO. I've definitely committed to this idea and have to see it through for better or worse. It actually looks like it has finally found support between 80/85 and won't go any lower. I think we will know one way or another this month.
is the option premium [selling puts] taxed at ordinary income tax rate or as short term cap gains
Hey Arthur! Those are the same thing. Yes, if you hold the options position for less than a year, than I am taxed at short term capital gains which is the same as my marginal tax rate.
Very good video,.,
Thanks Bill! Cheers!
I agree with you about other TH-camrs,
Thanks Bruce!
Thanks Blue Marvel! I can look in to that. Cheers!
@@JakeBroe thanks
Can you write off expenses against your earnings with options? I would probably need to buy books, attend conventions, have an Internet connection. My cell phone might be important to the track trades. Do you know what is a right off in this arena?
That's a good question and I think you can if you become a registered trader with the exchange, but that requires a minimum amount of capital that you trade. It doesn't matter because I just deduct everything I want to deduct from my TH-cam income (books, subscriptions, etc).
@@JakeBroe Right now I know that you can deduct expenses against income. Earned income. But dividend income
Tesla record sales for 4th quarter reported 309,000 cars
What will you recommend for me to buy if I have 20k to invest in my Charles Schwab account this month?
Hey Jake, what’s the next investment challenge for 2022?
Hey Alvin! Starting in February I'll do another $25K trading challenge in my Robinhood account and we will be focusing on credit and debit spreads.
@@JakeBroe will be following and trying a small amount, I will be on TD Ameritrade that shouldn’t be an issue right?
Nice
Thanks Trooperos!
I made money day trading GME.
Nice! Lots of trading activity there in the short term. I looked at options trading on it, but I just didn't want to get mixed up in it.
I remember when your goal was to beat the S&P. Seems like eons ago. 😆
Yeah... I definitely have learned a lot and changed my strategy a lot in the last year. It's been a crazy year. Cheers Slocumb!
LOL, Cathie Wood doesn't even like her own ETFs now.
For real?
When you look at her assets under management, many of her investors actually haven't given up on her. She performed so poorly in 2021, that I actually think she has a good shot at beating the S&P 500 in 2022. We'll see!
You should open your own fund with those kinds of % profits. I would give you money👀
Cheers aPI!
If he can do that, why not become a hedge fund manager?
Where hello investors? :)
I don't follow?
"I'm up by 123% which is pretty decent.."...seriously? Decent??? lol, pat yourself on the back, those are amazing returns.
Haha, I'm just being modest. I know these are crazy good returns. But I definitely could have made more if I was able to focus on this full time. My Air Force job just consumed a lot of my time. But I won't have to worry about that in 2022.
@@JakeBroe Don't be upset, I wish I could get half of your returns in a year. But I am not yet at that level of trading.
