Question: Isn't Algeria, a BRICS-member, friendly enough to russia to have them for a short and 'temporary' naval visit? I've understood that Algeria has been buying russian weapons with big money for years so they should be on good terms, right? And Algeria is not on good terms with NATO-backed Morocco so their both foreign policy aligns well... Naturally there are more issues like the russian effect (or lack of it in Syria), religious differences etc. but was thinking why doesn't russia start concentrating there?
The Ottomans did not control Egypt until 19 years after Vasco da Gama found the new path to India. He reached India in 1498. The Ottoman empire did not conquer the Mamluk empire until 1517. Mash reported that both vessels were converted some time in the 1990s from regular oil tankers into river-sea class vessels.[4] Volgoneft-212 was refitted in 2024, with The Guardian reporting that during this refit "the centre was cut out and the stern and bow were welded together, forming a huge seam in the middle. It is this section that appears to have broken."

Hey Joe, I have been watching this channel for some time now. You are informative and thorough. Also, nobody can figure out what iz going on in Syria, at last count I figured there were about 15 groups with 19 different agendas laying claim to this or that. All that aside, I want to thank you for the good bits you place at the end of your videos. This is about the tenth time you've brought a tear to my eye. Just the simple act of a mother hugging her child should be commonplace. But not that mother, or that child. Makes me want to say all kinda of bad words to describe this foolish, wasteful destruction by banal, evil men, far from this mother protecting her child. Thank you again for your ongoing service, DH

Maybe it's rather pathetic to admit to it, but when I get the *ding* indicating a new Jake Broe video, esp. if I can catch the live chat, that gives me one of the greatest joys of my entire week other than a weekly Zoom call with a bestie serving right now (and I'm not joking or being facetious either!). I'm disabled with a busted up spine since 2015, more bedridden than not that whole. Besides getting info that I can always count on being researched and with good commentary and analysis, it's become sort of a one-way social outlet for me. Maybe it's not so pathetic... maybe it's just called an immense gratitude for work well-done. Thank you, sir.
Jake's research and reporting is trusted and always welcome. I too love to hear the notification that he is live. I love the humanist approach rather than the all too common political approach that so many others have. The world is becoming 1 big neighborhood, and we need to make sure the people in it are being treated with respect as we want to be treated. So no, imho, that ding makes my day as well.
@@frankwebster9110 Thank you so much for taking that time for your very thoughtful response, Frank; you articulated very well why Jake's videos especially are touching. He seems just genuinely motivated like so many of us, a simple by a hatred of fascism and a love of all humanity... it really feels that simple, and it's a unifying thing, a sensation... words are failing me, but that same feeling shared I betcha by many, many viewers. I felt kind of nervous admitting to how much it means to me, that it was sort of opening myself up to ridicule perhaps even, but on days like this when I can't walk & I'm stuck in bed all day especially (and that isn't shared to fish for sympathy; every day above ground is a good day in my estimation), it does mean so very, very much to me. I'm so glad I'm not the only one for whom it's a true highlight and a pick-me-up for their day as well, such as you! Cheers, m8!

Dear Aim for my Head Please, Quite frankly I actually love Jake deeply now these years later for the pure reason that I so appreciate tangible factual information while it is too often in short supply and this is Jake's forte. The best reason I can find to explain actually feeling this love for Jake (complete stranger personally) may be because he is so very careful to give us all a burst of hope/joy/goodness in every post (likely too often detrimental to his own health). I'm buggered as you and you are likely already aware of this friend of his channel, but Vlad Vexler (3 channels) is a great source of inspiration, joy factually all while being disabled with a vile physical disease. Vlad's philosophical political bent has given me much more strength to live better while physically useless to anyone else's benefit. Sometimes there is only seven minutes he can give speaking to us all the way up to a couple hours. Maybe he can be another source of joy almost daily for you. I do so hope. Hold tight to the good moments so you can hardscrabble always through the ugly ones. Best to you, Linfy My apology for being so very personal.

A.f.a.i.k. his last phone call was from Budapest. But in several short interviews the other day incl. when he was first found, looking healthy. He explained that he was on a pilgrimage and had entered Syria from Lebanon without permission. He was discovered and thrown in prison. There he was treated OK and never beaten, but every day he heard screaming from others being t¤rtured. I got the impression of a very naive young traveller who broke regulations in the wrong country.
Now if Turkey is clever, they will provide busses for the russian army to transit through Turkiye So the men can return but the military hard wear stays in Turkiye . That will fill a nice big gap in the 2025 military budget live in hope.
How’s about handing over the military hardware to the Ukraine especially if the Ukrainians are already in Syria. Once the handover is completed let the Russians go back to Russia but on foot, make it a forced march.
Great video updates Jake, just what we need, not too long or complex, yet informative, the best I've come across on the web, thanks for keeping us upto date on the main points of the conflict.
Couple of minor corrections Jake 1. The CHP is the Turkish opposition party. It's the founding party of Turkey, and therefore was once led by Ataturk. Erdogan's party is the AKP. 2. The capital of Turkey is Ankara, not Istanbul
Also, just a little point of clarification for Jake: the Ottoman Empire is not a thousand yours old. It’s technically 700 years old, but they weren’t anywhere near the powerful nation they became until about 1350. Even then, it took them until 1453 to conquer Constantinople.
@@AKCFTW exactly. And the Greek byzantine Empire was the longest lasting Medieval empire on earth spanning 1150 years, until Constantinopelle fell in 1453AD
Jake the bigger problem is that pretty much all base load powerplants be it oil, coal, nuclear cannot ramp up or down electricity quickly. That is why it was famous for the UK energy grid to watch popular tv shows to know when the commercials go on to get ready for their pump storage hydropower stations to turn on because people will use the bathroom, cook something in the microwave etc. So if they take the grid down Ukraine would have to power down the nuclear power plants to idle or near idle as we cannot right now store the power. You need to have a near 1:1 electric production and use to keep the grid stable. The 2003 blackout in the northeast US was caused by an imbalance that forced all the power plants to scram and go offline and thus taking out most of the northeast with it.
So I hope the transmission ties between the Ukrainian and Polish grids have been maintained and added to in order to increase flexibility as to where available power can go. Swaps can be helpful both ways under these circumstances. California municipal utilities do these kinds of swaps with the Bonneville Power Administration.

Thank you for the unwavering support to Ukraine Sir Jake...
Great video as always Jake. Turkey wants its empire back as does Russia but they will never succeed. Such map changing rhetoric is part of Turkey's foreign policy for years and years. I am Greek and our military is solely structured to appose a Turkish invasion of our islands and mainland from the north. It makes no difference that we are Nato allies unfortunately. Thanks again!
It’s been over 100 years bro let it go
Nobody wants to expand the territory in Turkey. There is no rhetoric and neither support of the people. Thats just your media misinformation campaign..
@@okeman7614 We have let it go, Turkey just can't seem to
Greetings from Los Angeles, California, Jake!!
Jake Broe, making grown men cry since 2022.
Volgoneft 239 and Volgoneft 212 are river craft (clue in the name - Volga) and are by design un-seaworthy.
The master strategist strikes again.
That would explain a lot. River ships in the Black Sea. Putin is obviously brilliant with logistics.
Yep, they wouldn't even cut it in a lake, let alone one fo the more treacherous seas on earth in the middle of winter.
Although I like to think they were sunk by ukraine, who have built themselves a submarine.... It could happen ;)
They mess up envoriment in the black sea with their rusty tincans for the future ukrainians to deal with as they did with Chornobyl.
Yeah you did it again Jake that last video brought a tear to my eyes. I hope the Mama can keep on coming home to her little girl. Slava Ukraini. 💙💛
Great report Jake thanks for all you do!
Thank you Jake for reporting
Thanks for the update Jake.
Those rebels should keep all the military equipment
Send the ruSSians home in their underwear and socks.
Israel smoked all the strategic stuff: Aircraft, ships, missiles, chemical weapons plants, production factories.

it was such a thing for steff and i… we would anticipate it and say it… it’s damn soothing:)

doc and steff:)
Jake, you are a voice for sanity in this insane scenario.
The first clip is priceless because the same encounter happened in Ukraine at the start of the invasion.
It's sick that Russia, while attacking it's peaceful neighbor in an unprovoked aggression can find allies to provide soldiers, but Ukraine who is righteously defending itself, can find none and must stand largely alone.
no one is stopping you from join the foreign legion. Oh wait you want to send other people to fight for a war YOU believe in.

Hey Joe,
I have been watching this channel for some time now.
Thank you again for your ongoing service,
DH
HI Jake, thank you for your commitment to The Ukrainian people and their freedom! I like that you have information about the war and I appreciate human-touch videos and images that you show!🇺🇦💙🇺🇦💙🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

In his concluding remark British Cossack Richard clearly articulated his attitude towards Russia.
Please add my voice to his.
Yeap..
I would love to see that. I only can imagine how he 'articulated his attitude'.
The last video clip was so touching. May the Ukrainians get a break from their misery this Christmas, let the people feel Christmas peace for once.

You have a fine way of explaining the background, side effects etc, many thanks...
I always love to hear from you Jake. My utmost respect for the indomitable AFU, they are doing phenomenal work. Slava Ukraine. Heroism slava💙💛💙💛💙💛
Cheers, m8!
@@aimformyheadplease I am sorry to hear about your disability social media must be a great comfort to you, if you are pathetic waiting to watch Jake's videos then there are many many more of us, please stay positive all good wishes from UK resident.
@@TheBohemianlinda No apology needed, that's so heart-warming to me, and I'll check Vlad Vexler out, it helps to know I'm not the only one laid up like this, too!!
Go Ukraine Go, May God be with them (all Ukrainians) in their fight for FREEDOM
I hope everyone in Ukraine can have a good and peaceful Christmas. I look forward to better things in 2025. Thanks again for your tireless work on their behalf, and ours, Jake!

The last clip i did have a few tears as well, as all ways jake a good job keep the vids coming .
Thanks for the video MUGA
That will be an interesting story about how Timmerman got from Hungary to Syria.
A.f.a.i.k. his last phone call was from Budapest.
Thanks for sharing these authentic moments of pure humanity at the end of your videos
Thanks for another great video brother
Now if Turkey is clever, they will provide busses for the russian army to transit through Turkiye
So the men can return but the military hard wear stays in Turkiye .
That will fill a nice big gap in the 2025 military budget
live in hope.
I don't think they would want that Russian crap. They already have modern NATO gear, which is far better.
How’s about handing over the military hardware to the Ukraine especially if the Ukrainians are already in Syria. Once the handover is completed let the Russians go back to Russia but on foot, make it a forced march.
Makes sense
Russia is our 2nd largest trading partner. They are building 2 nuclear power plants for us. We can't seize Russian gear, Putin will loose his mind.
Why won't Putin do something to Turkey ?
Its not because your chicken 😏 is it ?

I saw reports saying there is an oil spill from those tankers 9 hours before you streamed this.
As always another exceptional video Jake! Your coverage is awesome, keep up the great work!
Glory to Ukraine!
Couple of minor corrections Jake
3. It is not named Turkey, it is Türkiye.
@@AKCFTW exactly. And the Greek byzantine Empire was the longest lasting Medieval empire on earth spanning 1150 years, until Constantinopelle fell in 1453AD
@@KaganParlatan perhaps, in Türkiyeish

hello Jake, I'm excited to be a member thank you so much
I hear you the first time, hoping to hear from you often, I like your reporting. You are doing a good job.
California municipal utilities do these kinds of swaps with the Bonneville Power Administration.
thanks jake
Merci Jake.
