I was just looking at the Raylan Givens series the other day and thinking about buying Pronto soon. I read Mr. Majestyk by Elmore Leonard more than 20 years ago and I remember really enjoying it and always meaning to pick up more by him, but never did. I have heard good things about the Thief of Always, but just a heads up it is Barker's more younger reader accessible work. The Hellbound Heart is good place to start with Barker, it is relatively short, gruesome and became the movie Hellraiser. Or try his short fiction n his Books of Blood volumes. I've been wanting to read David Mitchell for years too, but I have wanted to start in pub order of his books once I found out that they are a shared world. I know they each stand on their own and are not a series, I am just weird like that.
Thanks for your insights!! I’ll have to check out that Leonard- I haven’t heard of it! I also appreciate your Clive Barker advisement. I’ll probably start with this one as I don’t mind younger reader fiction, but I will definitely try out the others as well! I have been enjoying short fiction lately so I may go with those.
I definitely grew up on Goosebumps, but the original stories because I am old. LOL. I even had a scholastic subscription where I would get them in the mail every month. My favorite was How I Got Ny Shrunken Head when I was a kid.
@@ianthereader Yes it was pretty great. I was always a reader, so my parents started that one for my birthday one year and the original subscription came with some Goosebumps merch, I remember there was like a holographic goosebumps necklace. 😂 I also had a subscription to Sports Illustrated for Kids, never played sports but loved watching them, and read anything I could. LOL.
I grew up reading Goosebumps so they are so nostalgic to me. I see you found Moster Blood IV that one is a bit more rare and is quite expensive online for and original print. I keep telling myself I won't buy anymore books but somehow end up with more lol.
The Haunting of Hill House was not scary to me, unfortunately. I wanted to watch the show, but I never did! I bought Murder at Spindle Manor on Kindle, and I can't wait to read it.
So glad I found your channel! We have the same favorites!
Awesome!! Would love any recommendations you have!
Elmore Leonard 🔥 his dialogue is the gold standard
That’s what I hear!! Can’t wait to discover that for myself!
Loved Outlander. It’s horror if you imagine what life in the setting of the book is like.
Good to know! I’m hoping to get to it soon!!
