  • @Churchill302
    @Churchill302 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Handy info. I'm in the midst of tucking wires and relocating the battery to make room for a turbo. I ended up de-pinning a couple connectors to get through the hole in the apron (instead of opening up the hole). Also took off the old harness wrap to get some more slack and cooperation, will re-wrap when it's all said-and-done.

    • @guitarstudy0062
      @guitarstudy0062 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you de-pinned, did the wires just click back into the plug with no issues? I’d much rather do it this way than cut a bigger hole, but 30 year old plugs are not always cooperative.

    • @Churchill302
      @Churchill302 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lads - highly recommend using tesa tape instead of plain "electrical" tape when re-wrapping any wiring harness.

    • @biffbastion301
      @biffbastion301 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am doing mine now and had some Tesa tape. Even when it rubs over the metal edge it doesn't knick /mark it or anything. I would not use electrical tape only like you said in the area that passes through those sharp metal edges. The other areas with some wire loom would be okay without the Tesa. And yes they are sharp. I knicked my master cylinder wiring up pulling it back through the hole. It got a Tesa wrap after. :)

      In my opinion run wires through the factory hole that the old style cruise control unit use to exist on drivers side. It comes right below the dash and it's right to the fuse box. On the passenger side get a hole saw or dremel and cut in the same location as the driver side. It is hidden and is safe. You can see the factory hole on driver side in the video. Hey Foxcast, I know I'm a little late to the party but had a question on this video, which by the way, one of the best on wire tucks. What did you do with the AC compressor harness that connects to the large bundle of wires you tucked? It's only about 12 inches long coming from the compressor and no way it will reach under the fender wall and reach the harness in the fender. It's only 2 cables on the harness; should I be able to simply extend this with some 10G wire? Thanks for the video!
