Why didn't you do a test lap with TC on 0? I was waiting for that the whole video. Also, your videos always seem as though you're gonna explain something in detail and then you just say a few words about on the topic and move on...
Especially with fresh tieres the cars a very drivable without TC and also a bit faster if you hit the sweatspot. If you hit that sweatspot with a low TC the TC doesn't do anything anyway. To use TC start to be interesting when the Tiere wear getting higher, when it start to rain or in hard fights with others where you can't drive the line you are used to cause it can save you not to spin.
I’m just entering into sim racing, and I just got ACC on sale. I primarily watch F1, so I thought TC was utter rubbish, but I’m happy to hear that it’s a natural part of GT cars, then I’m totally fine by it. Thanks for clearing that out!
@@OverTake_gg Ty! Just waiting for the SF1000 wheel which will arrive pretty soon. Once I’ve practiced a bit, maybe done a few online races.. Afterwards I wanna join a league, and I have searched for it, when you’re getting into it blind, it can be a little bit confusing, do you recommend any league/communities for a complete rookie? I imagine being in a mix of both veterans and newbies would be ideal?
Would've liked a lap time with TC at 0 to prove turning off traction control doesn't make you faster. Would be cool to see the difference to TC on full
İf he turned off tc, you saw some corners and his inputs, he would spin. Lowest tc has huge difference against tc off very hard to control in low speed
@@hatersbby that's fine if they spin but I would still like to actually see it instead of just being told that's how it is. I feel the test is incomplete
And what if he can't handle it without TC? Maybe he is just not experienced enough to bring the right time on track. I just can say try it by your self. It's a fucking game. You can try it without risking your health or money and practice it theoretically 24/7. I just can say if you drive good and hit the sweatspot why the TC should start to kick in? From time to time I can recommend to try it without abs too. Cause beside the safety aspect abs teaches just bad habits.
Driving with and without tc is a whole different skill, im trying to learn acc at the moment and the tc has got to be one of the hardest things to get used to. My driving style generally involves forcing a bit of turn in oversteer and then counteracting that with a small amount of power to shift the weight back a bit to then get on the power for the exit. This works incredibly well in single seater cars, low weight, loads of power, really helps to rotate the car. But in gt cars, i turn in with a bit of oversteer, correct it with a bit of power but im in a slight slide so little power is delivered to the wheels and so I spin. I've had to change my driving style, focusing more on later turn ins and trail braking far less aggressively into the corners.
Hey James, I appreciate you sharing your technique. I play forza 7 on a wheel without tcs and it’s a bit of a struggle to get the power down out of low speed corners. I look forward to trying your technique to see if it helps me.
The "when" in tc1 doesn't mean "how long" the system activates but rather its sensitivity or, in other words, the amount of wheel spin that is accepted before triggering the system. And then tc2 is about the amount of power is being cut, as you correctly point out.
another TC help is for surface grip. suzuka tarmac (bitumen) is low grip surface, compared to that of say ..silverstone. So you want higher TC for Suzuka than you would for Silverstone. Also the main reason TC is important on your steering wheel, is so you can set it on a corner by corner basis. Silverstone again as an example, the fast sweeping corners you would run it low, but corners like the Vale chicane, or The loop just after village you may want to +1 it from its position you find best.
Great explanation for how to use tc. Also drove Suzuka for first time recently and wondered if they changed the tire model, good to hear it's from a different surface material.
The traction control is there for simracer in F1 series from Codemasters. The reason is because they can't drift. From my experience they can't handle wheel spin & they crash. In the end popular simracing is all about setup & quirk to win.
in ACC i use for all cars TC 2. it gives me with a wheel the personally best feeling, i dont feel like when i step on the throttle that i am too much held back out of the corners, especially cars which are very good coming out of a corner (like the Porsche GT3 R) should not be driven with a too high TC otherwise you sacrifice whats so good about it. and at the same time i have a certain area where i can play with the cars instability coming out of corners to a degree where a little butt-shake is very welcome.
And to add to my previous comment - I don't think there is such thing as "car built for [insert_driving_aid_here]". It's just a feature like on any modern road car which GT3 cars are based on (only that this modern cars are also supercars) 🙂 Also if high TC makes you slower, then wouldn't the same priciple apply for using 1 instead of 0 ('cuz 1 is obviously higher than 0)?
Exactly, doesn’t cover why you would lower it be either the default value set by the baseline setups. Maybe you want to generate more rear end heat and TC3 is too limiting and cutting in too much etc.
Good video. The Bentley is my go to car but I have to drive with TC at 5. I've tried lowering to 4 but the traction falls off a cliff! Still I can manage to creep in to the 2.20s on a hot lap around Spa
I think this misses the comment on why you would lower it from the default value. I (Bentley) often change the TC from 3 to 2 if the rears are too cold and I need to generate some heat and TC3 is too limiting in this particular circumstance.
What ever happened to feathering the throttle to avoid wheel spin? I get that TC is deployed in GT3 IRL, but it feels so arcadey and unnatural on default settings. I won't be setting any higher than 1 or 2 max.
TC on 0 is theoretically faster but requires very good driving, and because the cars aren't "built" for it it will probably result in crashes in a long race.
TC can kill ur lap times depending on how it's used. If it's permenently kicking in to save you, it means ur giving to much power at the wrong time..... It's a safety net for mistakes. The fastest times in ACC are set by people with TC off...... Should answer the question.

Good video! I'd been meaning to do this one for a while.
I run 1 / 2 in the Ferrari. It basically only activates on rare occasion, and prevents snap oversteer.
Traction control was first banned in 1994, and then made legal again from 2001 (Spanish Grand Prix) until the 2008 season.
