@@Samfekt I'm sure he's been told lol. It has to be some kind of stage habit he just can't break. He did that for almost the entire live DVD he had with Killswitch back in 2005.
Is it so hard to hold the mic properly? The soundquality of the vocals is awful...
He's been doing that for 20 years and I've never understood it. If you go to 2:14 in this video th-cam.com/video/Aas2UgOo5Nc/w-d-xo.html you can see how he sounds while NOT cupping the mic, then he goes right back to it. He's one of my favorite vocalists ever, but he handicaps himself live by holding the mic that way.

Imperial Watch while you’re not wrong on that. Not a great sub genre but certain bands in the genre outperform traditional metal genres in every aspect. Killswitch is one of them. They pretty much pioneered metalcore.
