  • In this edition of My Father's Firearms, I shoot one of my favorite guns from his collection; a Sharps rifle in .50-90 that he brought to Africa for an elephant hunt in the 80's.
The rifle was built by the Classic Rifle Co. in Bend, Oregon and is just beautiful!
I shot it at 55yds to get a feel for it, then shot expired canned goods because... Well, because I'm a giant 12yr old and that seemed like the thing to do with the largest caliber rifle I own. Then I shot the same canned good with my 1911 10mm to further increase the ridiculousness. I had a great time and hope you do do when watching this video.

1877 Sharps with Freund alteration of hammer and breechblock. Lovely piece of work.

My understanding is that with a set trigger you can set it and get a light pull, but if you don't set it you can still shoot it just like a normal trigger (front trigger still) and get a heavier pull, maybe 5 pounds.

The front trigger pull was really heavy; at least 8-10lbs.
