The great thing about single shot rifles is that it requires the shooter to enjoy shooting. The concentration Of making that 1 shot count on that target is what makes target shooting so enjoyable. What a gorgeous firearm.

I'm in my 30's and have always loved single shot firearms rifles, shotguns, and handguns they all have a simplistic appeal to them that makes them great for hunting or just shooting in general. Shooting fast may be fun at times but I have always had more fun dialing in small groups.

Love single shots. Just something so nice about them for me and how they force ypu to slow down and just enjoy them. Hitting a target, breaking the action, giving a nice puff of air down the chamber to clear the smoke out the muzzle... nothing cooler haha. I don't know how people complain about these guns. I love semis but have a special place for these.

I found my family member's old rusted NEF Pardner SB1. After an hour of sanding and polishing, I brought it back to life. Gorgeous little cheap shottie. A great truck or farm gun. I think they paid $90 for it brand new back in 1995 at Dick's Sporting Goods. lol
The actual gun is hardened steel compared to the barrel. The wood is solid and beautiful Walnut. Every home should have one of these just based on price alone. Great beginner shotgun and super easy to maintain. If you see one online or in a pawn shop for under $150, talk them down 20 bucks and buy it!

    • @exposingthetruth3821

@Michael Brummett I have picked them at gun shows for years. Most of the ones I find are in varmint rounds, and the latest was 22 jet. I have several of them now in pistol cartridges, up to 44 mag. I've never bought one anywhere but random vendors, but I also have a few homemade ones in .223 and .243 that I assume some machinist gun smith made personally. I don't see them like I used to, thats for sure, and I spend more time looking for contender barrels or old lever actions now. Otherwise, I buy up a lot of 410 and 20 gauges with broken simple parts for sometimes near nothing. Seems like nobody likes them and I give them to the kids. So I'm not sure and will research if anyone is making them anymore. Due to the value of the firearm itself I assume that's the reason for so few. But they used to make them! My first rifle was a combo that came with 3 barrels as a kid. Much like a Rossi kit now.

@@exposingthetruth3821 I bought mine new thru Gallery of Guns in Arizona, priced right and really nice laminated stock. After using it for about 3 months went to H&R webpage and they had all the different calibers available for my base stock and multiple barrel sets that you could order from them w/o Fed paperwork anal probe. Lack of funds [total knee replacement) prevented me initially from purchasing. Next thing I know they have closed up their repair shop and no longer fulfilling lifetime guarantee repairs and then Marlin has filed. Sucked big time, wanted a .44 mag and .308 but another my loss. Hopefully Henry will not be so maximum profit driven with this offering. Every Henry I have even seen, handled, shot has been very high quality, but price again is my issue w/them.

If you want a relatively quick second shot, my grandfather taught me many years ago to carry a second round in the palm of your forend hand to slap into the chamber after flipping the action open with your trigger hand. Works great, especially with a spring-loaded ejector like on most single-shot shotguns.

I just picked up a CVA Scout in 45-70 for suppressor use. I looked hard at the Henry, but the lack of a threaded barrel made the CVA the one for me. Plus it's stainless, which is a nice plus. I took it out after a quick boresighting and at 110 paces I printed a 3 shot group of about 1.5" standing off of a monopod. The trigger is incredible, no uptake, breaks like crystal and no overtravel. I won't be able to get the suppressor on it soon enough!

Thanks Hickok. Looks like a nice rifle. A little heavy. I have to admit, I miss the NEF Handi Rifles... great product, light weight and low price - in the past anyway. The used ones are fetching $400+ now and going up.

I love Single Shots. I got a 22Lr and a 12 gauge in single shot.

I bought one when it first hit the shelves. I found three and chose my favorite stock grain. My first kill was a ground squirrel at about 80 yards. It's that accurate.
Feels like a really hopped up 32 gauge slug. My first status symbol rifle.

Nice. Think Henry may be a little bit to proud of some their items. Good looking stuff for sure.

I collect the cva single shots and 450 bushmaster might have to be my next caliber, and they make the pistol version too!

Love it. I have to put my old slip on recoil pad on my crossbow who's stock doesn't adjust. You like tall like me and shorter guns don't fit us as well. Keep the videos coming. Great stuff

Good review. You said they aren't a $200 single shot, but in my opinion, they should be because of the trigger. You should've brought out a trigger pull measurer and showed what it is at. Three years ago I bought one in 357. The trigger was terrible. When I took it to the gunsmith, he measured the pull weight at 14 pounds. $50 later he could get it down to 9 pounds and that was as low as it could get. Like I said; terrible trigger pull even at 9 pounds. Sold it within a month of owning it. I saved my money for a little while and ended up buying a Henry lever 357 with the new side load gate and love it. Hopefully, someday, they will fix that rotten trigger.

One thing I noticed about Henry rifles is the beautiful walnut sticks. Even on their lower end models. They make a great product.
