    I know I’m two years late at this point, but I believe the very oddball loopy yarn is supposed to be a finger looping yarn. It’s a technique where you work the loops into each other to create a fabric.

    with you red Grey and white loopy yarn that matches your jacket I would make a base to stitch it on to. hat or scarf, so it can still match your jacket and you can get the loop effect.
    love your projects and your bubbly personality.

    I had a random assortment of small balls of most of these yarns, those and thin baby yarn. What I did was I got all of those yarns and doubled up the novelty yarn with the baby yarn or anything that was straight (worsted weight, etc) and made C2C blankets for my churches quilting group that have since donated those blankets to our home bound members who are too ill to come to church. But it burdened through ALL of my scrap yarn and unwanted yarn that I don't like working with.

    Hi ive made beautiful baby blankets with the pom pom yarn and everybody loved them, sold them at craft fairs and people came back for more, I did knit them , I could not crochet then. But thanks to your fantastic tutorials I can now crochet even the most complicated pattern. I have recommended your site to a few people and they are now learning to crochet with you . I thought at 70 I was to old to learn but I have proved your never ever to old to learn
    Kind regards

    I used the eyelash yarns with 2, sometimes 3 other yarns for a throw rug. My beautician and daughter LOVED the soft rug to rub their feet in after being on their feet all day. The chunky yarn I used for a throw rug as well.

    Could you do a video about what to do when you're halfway through a project and find that you're bored with it?

    • @carolbilsky3841
      @carolbilsky3841 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Amy Howell Usually those projects go in a tote labeled WIP (Work in Progress) for me. I find if I force myself to finish, I end up either making major mistakes or hating it. Right now I have 3 projects waiting. I make sure I keep a copy of the pattern with the row I'm on and the hook size in pencil together with the yarn. I go back to wips as I get bored with other projects to give me a change of pace.

    • @beadedwindsocks
      @beadedwindsocks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Another suggestion: put your WIP aside and work on something small or something that needs many parts, ex: make hearts, leaves, stars, triangles, different size squares to make into scarves or blankets. Put the hearts or leaves on a wreath. Make the stars or triangles into a bunting. You basically need a break from project, so work on another. Oh, when you make the small pieces for a bigger project, be sure to store them in a bag, so as to not lose them and keep them clean.

    • @werewolfbitevictim
      @werewolfbitevictim 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I hear you. I just want to crochet what I want to when I want to. it results in tons of WIPs going at the same time and I actually will switch out when I get bored with it. this way they all get worked on without me letting it sit for days.

    • @LittleLouLouLove96
      @LittleLouLouLove96 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do a lot of projects for other people and 90% of them are huge boring blankets that I get bored with halfway through.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Hi Amy, I often run into projects that either get boring or I get a bit of a block on. If it sits in my WIP bucket for more than a year, then I take the whole thing apart and reuse the yarn for something else!

    I bought some fun yarns back in college, which was a while ago. I made some boa scarves with eyelash yarn (I think eyelash yarn was a new craze back then). I crocheted slippers with some chenille yarn, but I found that knitting was less stressful on the yarn than knitting was.
    My older sister knitted a toddler-sized cardigan and hat for my little sister a few years ago, out of eyelash yarn. It looked like a fur coat! (If rainbow-sherbet-colored fur exists.)

    Hi! I used the pomp-a-doodle on a baby's blanket: I used variegated yarn and laid the string part of the pomp-a-d along the edge I was crocheting and crocheted over it. When I came to a pom-pom I let it show through (all on the same side) and then continued to crochet over the string part until I came to the next pom-pom. I think I searched pinterest for the idea... It looks quite nice. No pic yet. M

    Loved your video about weird yarns. I, too, have such a stash. I have used some of my stash to make knitted squares which I have sewn together to make a lovely unusual blanket for those nippy evenings. As far as the Pomp-a-Doodle yarn, I have knitted this yarn and made simple hanger covers which give a lovely cushioning, non-slip finish for clothes - stops clothing slipping or developing those odd shapes in them. Hope this helps.

    Very nice. The only weird yarn I’ve encounter is bernat pipsqueak, which I made socks and pillows out of, and the loopy yarn, which I just cut the loops out of at just the right spot so that the loops disappeared, but the yarn wasn’t really cut. Thats a great idea for the suede, I wish I had some! But do you think you could do a tutorial on your crocheted fedoras? but not necessarily made with suede, but with any kind of yarn. I don’t know, just a thought.

    Hey Jayda., on the loopy yarn, I believe your supposed to crochet a certain amt of single crochet, go back into same stitch n putt it thru the loop n move on that way. Row by row till end then there’s a way to end the last row so it won’t come out, I can’t remember it. I think Crystal may know this one… try asking her…

    Just a thought. Why not use the pomp a doodle yarn for a pillow. You could crochet the base fabric and use this as you would for a contrast design. Run this yarn across the top of your crochet and crochet around the back of the poms so they stick out on the front of the fabric. Sort of like when you are working a graph pattern using two different color yarns and you carry the unused yarn (the poms) along the top of the stitching till it is needed.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Jayda , thanks for this video on weird yarn. Speaking of yarn, this morning I found out that someone broke into my car last night and stole a big zippered bag that was stuffed with my most beautiful my most loved and fantastic shawls, a total of 8, Id been crocheting for years (several of them following your instruction) As you can imagine Im devastated. They actually wiped me out as I had packed my trunk with clothes shoes purses as Im moving. They took everything but the thing that wounds me most is losing my shawls. See I had planned to leave them as heirlooms for my daughters granddaughters friends.... anyhow I guess now I must begin again and I will!! i have no word for surrender!!I Ijust thought Id tell you my sad story Jayda b/c I knew youd understand. OMG!!! I just pulled out 3 shopping bags of the boa/fun fur/and eyelash yarn :-) , thought I was the only one. Besides being easily tangled, it's much easier to knit with. What I've been doing with them and you can do with the pompom yarn, I would find either a contrasting solid color yarn or one in the same color and use it as one. The one where you have the 3 colors, I would match solids and make a blanket or throw simply garter stitch (using the grandma dishcloth pattern which works on the diagonally ) for a older little girl

    I was given a bag of fun fur and I loved so much I made a couple scarfs with it. I think that yarn you were talking about that you made a hat out of that was wayyy to hot to wear I agree you should use that for trim on a blanket that would look awesome.

    The blue multi thickness yarn I have had a couple different ones given to me. I have knitted both into ponchos. I just don't like the way they look crocheted. The pomp a doodle ...... would make a cute garland. Maybe crochet some stars or something and attach them in between the pompoms

    Hi! Thank you for all the time and talent you share. I recently bought Bernat chenille in a soft brown and also cream thinking to make a cushy teddy bear. The fun fur and eyelash yarn make a nice fur for stuffed animals. The other yarn that's red, white, and grey I would make a wreath with. Cover Christmas balls and attach to a wreath. The pom pom yarn I would make a striped throw with a few rows of solid yarn than 1 row of pom pom yarn.

    I have some yarn similar to the Bernat Gazoo that you have. It consists of a long strand with loops running along it. It feels like it could be a roving type texture, but I don't think it's wool since it didn't pass my burn test. Anyways, I didn't notice the loopy texture of it until I got home, and I didn't particularly like it. So, I carefully removed the string holding the loops together, and now it's just one continuous strand without all of the loops.

    • @JaydaInStitches
      @JaydaInStitches  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! I might try that on a sample of the Gazoom and see what happens! I really love the colours so I am motivated to use this yarn for something to go with my ski jacket :)

    • @HotaruTomoe0106
      @HotaruTomoe0106 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may work, but it also looks like the chenille texture of it might make it tricky to pull off. I'd still try it, though. I'd like to know how it goes. xD
