I like the main character just because during the confusing parts he just has this look on his face that says "Tf is going on...?" And I respect him for that cause I don't think any of us truly know what's going on.
Also, Jeff Bridges - aka The Dude / Lebowski - the main character, like was playing ultimatelly himself.. In all other movies he playes there after, his way of speaking, his way of acting and more or less his whole character remains that same DUDE. i love the man, but really, you loook at the men who stare goats, the same guy, Tron, SAME guy, even in Ironman well.. maybe less but still, the same man.

I think the “paraquat” line was adlibbed by Jeff Bridges. Who has said that there was adlibbing in the film, though John Goodman says that the great stuff were very much by the Coens.

I dont know what the movie was about but I have never been able to identify with a character as much as with the Dude. The constant state of confusion while just wanting to have his pissed of rug together was the perfect metaphor for life to me. In reality the plot doesnt make sense usually. Life isnt a story, its a clusterfck. There are so many nuances to this movie its incredible.
The rug was what pulled it all together in the end though.

The cowboy Narrator is Sam Elliot, he's a famous actor that did a lot of westerns, Road House, and he's the guy in the commercials that says, "Beef: it's what's for dinner."
And speaking of Road House, the porn producer guy in this movie is played by Ben Gazara, who plays villain Brad Wesley in Road House.

Im so confused about this movie and what exactly they were trying to represent on it, and i have 2 possible options about it
1) it was a good elaborate shitpost movie, so people in the future could laugh like fucking maniacs

I think they were just trying to show off the philosophy of Labowski. A big aspect of the film is that nothing that happens in it is the result of the Dude. Throughout the entire film, all he ultimately cares about is his rug and it shows the philosophy of a man who is content to just exist and is perfectly happy existing in his own small world because its what makes him happy. The entire film is just him trying to get away from the craziness of the events of the film and return to how it used to be. I think it was honestly a critique on the idea that Americans should always strive to be the best they can be and that there's nothing wrong with being content and living within your means. Because so long as your existence is comfortable, it can be happy.
Option 3. Both.
The rug realy tied the movie together.

so i had a really bad flu one weekend, high fever as well. that weekend i decided to watch this movie, it was new on netflix, but because i was already feverdreaming half of the day i could not distinguish this movie from the feverdreams i was having. it feels really strange watching reviews about it because it feels like somebody reviewed a fever dream i had

One thing I'd like to mention in the diner scene of the movie, was when Dude is freaking out over the severed toe, Walter treated it like he was freaking out over a spilled ice cream cone lmao
He's like, "What are you freaking out about? It's just a severed toe, you can get one of those anywhere. *He then casually looks at his watch* I could get you a severed toe before 3 this afternoon, with nail polish"
This happens, when every goddamn character thinks he's in the movie about him. Except Steve, he's a normal unlucky guy with a faint heart.

It really depends on the area country areas with small amounts of people will take about 5 minutes but big city's have about a hour that s with small crimes
