    Great to see yours work, I have a, 1986, 446 also with the ONAN still working fine, I bought the unit 2 years ago but this is the first winter I had the snow blower mount on the tractor and got to use it a week ago on 4" of snow. It worked great for me and look forward to using it again.

      I always enjoy seeing these with the original engines in good shape. Seems like if they're taken care of, they run forever. They certainly are great for snow removal!

    I have an 87 Case 446 and it still has the Cummins/Onan twin cyl engine in it. It still runs great doesn't smoke and it quickly clears up to 18" of snow with its snowblower. The only thing that recently had to be changed was the fuel pump. I could not get one of those replacement Chinese vacuum import pumps to work so I replaced it with a low pressure electric pump wired to ign +. Works like a charm, no regulator needed, and it was only $11 on amazon. I like those tire chains. My tractor has about 50% of the cross links that your chains have but it seems to work.

      That looks a good tractor and blower. Those old units are built tough.

    When people make tractor videos, what is going through their mind when they add music to it???

    Everytime I see an old Case I wish I still had my 70's 222

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wish I never would've sold this one, but to be honest I think the white that I have now with the two stage is a better machine for snow removal. Not that the case was bad. The vanguard just didnt have the torque to power the single stage through wet deep snow.

    • @487joe
      @487joe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NorthwoodsNoise Always wondered if Case ever made a 2 stage. Gave my 222 with plows, blower, mower, and some brinly hardy stuff to grandson. Back in the 90's.

      @@487joe I dont think case ever made a 2 stage but I have seen people adapt bercos, snappers and a few other brands to fit these machines. I guess if you have the time and the tools anything is possible.

      Thank you! It certainly did the job! I've since gotten rid of this one, but I think I'm in the market for another one once I find a 446 or 448 in good condition.

    Do not just add chain links to a worn chain- you will wear out the sprockets.
    I just got done rewelding teeth on my son's old Toro tractor blower.
    He brought it over saying- the chain breaks or comes off...I looked at the sprocket on the auger and said, "here's the problem- no teeth left".(smile)
    I had a choice- weld /grind shape new teeth or get a 40 tooth sprocket, have a machine shop open it to 1 7/16 . cut the old one off and align /weld it on.
    Might take weeks, and I got it done before the lake effect show of today.
    I had some weld repair on the auger vanes and added 1/4 metal strips to close up the auger to housing gap.
    He called this morning and reported that it is a beast compared to before.
    Now this possibly pertains to your blower- I brought my '67 Simplicity in to do the same mod to the auger and in research on yt. noticed the newer machines used a 4 "paddle" auger- placing one between each of the stock ones.
    Not having enough steel on hand. I added mounts for home made paddles out of truck flaps (4 layers) and bringing them out, to nearly touch the auger housing.
    In the heavy wet snow today- the difference is amazing. I love it.
    Mike

    I tried to use my 446 to blow yesterday. but the Onan was having too many carb issues. Good thing I have the old reliable 220 plow tractor

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of carb issues? I wish this one still had the original onan! The vanguard does the job, but I'm constantly worried about overworking it. I cant believe how hot it gets.

    • @samdittmar5142
      @samdittmar5142 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it only needs a float adjustment. But the Onan has A LOT of torque, it runs pretty cool in the winter but in the summer just keep the fins clean and they run forever. It will be a easy fix

    • @samdittmar5142
      @samdittmar5142 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Northwoods Nonsense also with onans You have to stay on top of the maintenance to prevent simple issues that will cost you a lot of time

      @@NorthwoodsNoise How do you know it's getting hot ? Don't know why it would in the winter?

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markpontes4457 I have no way of knowing for sure, but it seemed to be losing power towards the end of the job. The vanguard does not match the torque the original onan and I was working it fairly hard. Regardless of the cooler temps in winter I'm sure it's still possible to overwork/overheat these little air cooled engines.

    How did you solve the blower running backwatds from onin to briggs swap?

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I recall correctly it was as simple as changing the twist of the drive belt changing whether you're pulling off the top vs bottom of the blower pulley. Sold the tractor awhile ago though so I might be misremembering

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont, sorry. It's a matter of aligning the holes on the attachment mount with the two spring pins on the front of the tractor. Lock the pins in the wholes and then attach the lift arm to the lift plate typically located near the center of the tractor on the right side of the operator's station. I know that probably doesnt make a whole lot of sense if you've never done it before and its possible your tractor may be missing parts, but give it your best shot. I dont remember if I show it in this video but the blades attach the same way as the blowers do. Good luck to you!
