Buying a Chinese MINI EXCAVATOR (micro excavator?). Initial modifications and 1st use. What's next?
I decided to hop on the chinese mini excavator band wagon. So far i'm not disappointed. They're certainly not ready to go out of the box, but if you haven some basic mechanical skills, i think these things are pretty value packed if you can pick one up at the right price. In this video we'll pick up the machine from the auction yard, bring it home and do the initial required modifications, and test it out digging out a stump. Much more to come with this little guy! Stay tuned! Enjoy!

I pulled this 2005 Ski-doo Summit Adrenaline 800HO from deep in the woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer. It supposedly had an altercation with a tree and it was left for dead. I've got it back at the shop now, and we're going to disassemble the ol' girl and find out just how much work she'll need to see snow once again. It may take some doing, but i think we can handle it. That's not a bad way to do it. Most all transoms on smaller older boats like this will have a degree of flex to them. How much flex you're comfortable with is up to you in the end. If it seems like too much flex, odds are it is.

Then that connecting fitting to the tank will still fit. Saves you the job of switching fittings on the tank. Hope it makes sence. Great video

      I still use it very frequently. Everything still works. Heating element gets the water up to 50c no problem. Front display still works. My go to cleaning solution is just dawn dish soap and water for carburetors. It doesnt work perfectly right away on parts that have been abused for years, but throwing in a little industrial degreaser of your choice would probably change that. Dollar for dollar one of the best tools I've ever bought.

I added a fan and so far haven’t overheated - it would boil the gas in 20 minutes of hard work prior. My one suggestion is to remove the two ends of the grease tubes under the floor board and pump grease until until you see grease come out and then re-attach them. On mine I found that there wasn't much grease in the two tubes and I had to pump a lot of grease in before it finally started oozing out. When looking the fittings facing the front, the fitting on the right side is for the swing gear. Can put a shot of grease, then rotate the machine a little and put another shot, rotate more and put another shot etc to coat the entire gear. The one on the left is for the bearings which doesn't need a whole lot of grease. As for that stump, you could have lowered your thumb and grabbed it. Your machine will have no problem lifting it right off the ground. I have a Landhero as well. Mine has a slightly different body, I have the 'counter weight' like the AGT H12 which I call a bumper because it isn't really all that heavy. And your hydraulic lines are inside the boom which is nice, mine are on the outside. And your motor has the exhaust pointing the right way, on mine the exhaust goes sideways :-/ For me the in-tank filters are good enough. A spin on filter would be nice, easy to change and probably a smaller micron filter element. Thus far I love mine, the only thing I don't like is it's slow speed. I think all of these Chinese minis are slow.

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise หลายเดือนก่อน

      All great suggestions, thank you! I was actually surprised at how well everything was greased on this machine. In fact, I havent had any of the common issues that you see coming up on the forums. I've been lucky so far. Everything was greased well and I havent found a single loose piece of hardware yet. The fact that the hydraulic lines are inside the boom is what kept me bidding on this machine during the auction. I really do like that. I should've tried to pick the stump with the thumb. Truly I wouldve been surprised if it wouldve picked it up. I moved the stump with my 25hp Mitsubishi tractor and the weight from the stump was causing the rear tires to come off the ground. It was far heavier than I thought. I did just pick up a pile of attachments for it so I'm looking forward to trying them all out soon. Thanks again for the tips!

      Ive seen them by the hundreds at all and any auction house across North America. Thats where i found mine. Some guys buy as many as they can then flip them privately after putting their own local brand sticker on them and sell for 3x the cost at auction house. I paid $5000cad last yr and this yr ive seen them go for as low as $2700cad at the lower traffic auctions. And winter time also. 😅 Thanks for your tips by the way. Ive seen the auctions now also have pallets full of all the attachments. You might want to pick up a pallet full of all the different buckets and augers for a few hundred vs over $1000 each from a local flipper! I also contacted a few of the manufacturers that make them over seas and cant seem to chisel them down low enough on price to justify just watching the auctions. The guy thats pumping them into the auctions i wonder how hes making money!?!? Its got to cost a bunch to get then shipped also… plus customs etc… 🤷🏻‍♂️🥴 he must get them for under $2k each with a big order of 2500 piece or something like that.

    use a ball hone and pay attention to how many strokes you take. Chances are you will need to tear down the rest of the engine and get a .020 or .030 piston and have a machine shop bore it out. WIth an outboard you need only oversize the bad hole, the otehr pistons can remain standard. It is not like a car. But if you have to hone more than say 18 to 22 strokes you have already oversized that hole and it will no longer be round. Doesn't cost much more to bore one cylinder and you can then see the others and how they really are. Force outboards were not the greatest for top speed but they were fantastic at low end torque. my experience? 54 years as marine mechanic and repair shops nation wide. (retired this year)

    Your demo shows you wildly swinging this brush cutter to terrorize twigs with constant throttle blips...where a pushmower would be better suited. Throttle up, make the cut, throttle down. not 27 blips as you walk from one target to the next, only to slam the almost-stalled blade into a cut. Also, there is obviously a guide intended to feed work into the left side of the blade. This is why you keep slamming this thing into the dirt when feeding into the right side of the blade while it tries to yank itself out of your hands.

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise หลายเดือนก่อน

      The throttle blips are reflexive. Can't be helped. Its coded in male DNA. The guide doesn't work with the orientation of the teeth on the saw blade. The way they're oriented, you feed from the right otherwise you're not using the cutting edge of the teeth. Perhaps you could flip the saw blade around, but then the directional arrows would not match between the saw and the guide. So design flaw? Chinese translation error? Incorrect assembly because I can't read? Not sure. All are possible, but didnt care enough to stop and find out as it did the job I wanted it to the way it was. Thanks for the view! I can't believe you watched the whole video either, but life is full of disappointments! Just ask your parents!

      @@michaelcampbell1471 nice to see someone who can take a joke! You are correct though, it would work much better if you could utilize the guide when cutting. There were two trees in the video that I remember were about 3" in diameter and it seemed to eat right through those so I have to think it would handle 4". But I'd think the gearbox (if you can call it that) wouldn't handle it repeatedly. The machine really doesnt seem to transfer torque to the blade very well and I suspect the drive system is probably a weak point.

    I've a Case 222 tractor that I use to blow snow. Has a rebuilt engine and I expect it to be running for the next 35 - 40 years. I've gone all over it with new paint and decals. It doesn't just run like new; it looks like new too.

    Don't you have to measure the float level?

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise หลายเดือนก่อน

      I typically dont unless I'm experiencing a problem that would lead me to think the float height is incorrect. Once it's set from the factory it should be set unless someone messes with it. But if you want to be super thorough you could definitely measure and set it while you have the carburetors apart.

      So, taking the floats out and putting them back doesn't affect the level? it should remain the same? And I appreciate the help!

    I have an old Bravo that would not start unless I put gas in the sparkplug hole. So I found a mechanic that would put a primer pump and now with three pumps it starts on the first or second pull.

    What would the average cost be to have a shop rebuild the carburetors on the same engine?

    • @NorthwoodsNoise
      @NorthwoodsNoise หลายเดือนก่อน

      The carburetor kits from yamaha are about $100 each last I looked, so minimum $400 in parts without the shop upcharge, plus I'd estimate 3 hours in labor at anywhere between $60-$120 an hour. So $500-$800 would be my best guess depending on who you take it to and what part of the country you live in.

    Great info add. Just curious how can the block reduce pressure for the loader without affecting the backhoe and rockshaft that are downstream in the hydraulic circuit? Just learning about this stuff, and appreciate the added detail.

    Hey there. Depending on your model of Echo, the fast idle can be selected by pulling the choke and pushing it back in. Do not pull the throttle trigger until you want to kick it down to normal throttle.
