  • The case EZ adjust clutch has proven for many to be a genuine pain to' set correctly. There are manuals online and even very good pictorials...but , as good and concise as the existing information is, there was a void in the information and the 'How it work's.wasn't touched on. Tonight I got frustrated and decided ENOUGH is ENOUGH, people need to know...So, step by step through this endeavor I put this video together to save someone else this frustration. And now this will eliminate that information gap. Good Luck

    Thanks for making this video. I've had this apart before but can never remember quite how it goes back together. With over 41K views, you know that you've helped thousands of people. A big thank you from the mountains of western Maine. I use the PTO for my snowcaster and we generally have 4.5 - 6' of snow on the ground for the duration of winter every year. We depend on the Case to move that snow. Thanks again!

    How tight should engagement feel on the clutch lever? I followed as best I could after getting the parts that were missing from mine and I have about .005 gap, which is within tolerance from the manual, but my engagement is quite tight. It looks like the spring washers compress really nice, though, so maybe it's fine. It's a good firm pull to engage the clutch on mine. See an issue with that?

    Hi Jim, I Just received a new engaging arm and fan blade to install in my Case 224. I`m pretty positive I have all the parts installed in proper order, as I have viewed your detailed video many times. When I get to the point of tightening the nut to the 45 ft.lb. recommended, I find that the friction disc tightens down to the friction plate. Driving me nuts. I can`t figure out if I`m doing something wrong, or if I have some parts that might be worn. I do see a little wear in the cam notchs but does`nt seem excessive to me. I know it`s tough to tell without the machine in front of you, but Im just throwing it out there. Any ideas. Thank you, Shawn M.

    • @Jimtoledo
      @Jimtoledo  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shawn McGrath the issue is you aren't on your shoulder bolt properly the shoulder bolt should be almost fully compressed when you get that .002 clearance so when you pull that lever back it easily bridges the .002 and bingo you have engagement...these things are a PITA when you first start fudgin with them

    • @rjsiegler3494
      @rjsiegler3494 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've found that it is pretty normal for the pressure washers to push the whole assembly in tighter than you had planned. What I do is leave the front nut a bit loose and reach around and adjust that big nut. I this video it's the one he keep putting that big adjustable on. I've yet to be able to "set it and forget it". Usually takes me several tries to get it right.

  • @chuckhorton7228
    @chuckhorton7228 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I watched the video to verify I had it all together correctly, but as the tractor runs, the clutch gets loose. I have even tightened it to where it will not disengage, and it still backs off. And that is only after 15 minutes of operation. What am I overlooking?

    • @Jimtoledo
      @Jimtoledo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chuck Horton make sure you have a screwdriver keeping the flywheel stationary, and follow torque specs over tightening isn't good! Good Luck

    • @Tshizzle42o
      @Tshizzle42o 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same problem with mine. Shaft is in new condition, new bearings, new spring shims, new flat shims. I have a new friction material to put on the pulley but it is thinner than the old one?? I get about 30min of mowing and it starts slipping again and when i disengage it there is about 1mm between the clutch plates. It is driving my crazy. I want an electric clutch so bad

    • @Jimtoledo
      @Jimtoledo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spec is not 'tight' ...it is specific! The .002 clearance between the friction disk and pressure plate MUST be there when the clutch is disengaged...

  • @TheSlow78
    @TheSlow78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I start tightening the fan but the back plate pushes against the clutch plate. Any idea?

    • @Jimtoledo

      Follow part 2 ..
      It explains you must hold that shoulder bolt in 1 position while securing the front nut to specified torque...You MUST make 100% certain tat the clearance between the friction disk and pressure plate is NOT comprimised...
