I guess this is the later 1989 promo? I have two other promo films for this song from 1986, one is a similar studio performance for use on The Chart Show in October 1986, the another promo film was commissioned by the NME and broadcast on The Tube in October 86, I recorded both at the time on Betamax, still have the tape

Long ago I knew this band tracking the past of certain female rock singer and discovered a treasure in it self, fell in love with the bunch, heard every record, jumped, danced, sang every song and wandered if this have had a huge success in it's time because, like it's said down there, it should have been massive. I Love it. Love the sound and love Martin and the bestial
enthusiasm he puts down in every track. It's like connecting your brain to a huge positivism machine that makes you jump even if it's 3 AM. Wonderful. WUP WUP!

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie, because watching this back in the day was the first time I had my breath taken away by Shirley. xoxo

It's unfortunate that in the consumerist capitalist corporate society/world of today's day and age its not talent/artistry but success popularity and monetary gain that's valued over everything else...including integrity and not relenting or selling out to so-called "relevance/star quality"...
And hats off to Shirley for making it big time status level with via garbage...but it's unfortunate in a way because I preferred this band...they just didn't get lucky like garbage...thats all that separates excellence that never makes it (big-time wise)..and mediocrity that becomes HUGE successfully and stardom/fame-wise beckoning.....they got lucky...mostly LUCK and good looks and having "star quality/the look" in the toxic shallow music biz industry if you're not stick thin drop dead gorgeous and 19-25 your chances drop drastically year upon year after year...and who decides this all being the way it is??? Teen fans??? Consumers??? Nope...the fatcat suits CEOs and corporate bigwig types who also decide what's "hot or not" with trends buzzing and fashion etc ...like the fashion/modelling and beauty industries unironically being decided & run and driven (into the ground) by older white men who are probably between 40s-80s and were born into their power and money & sometimes fame by nepotistic and "birthright" privilege just like ancient royalties & their hereditary lineage....
RANT FINISHED lol I only meant to write like a sentence line or 2 lmfao
