  • Un-boxing and break in of the Harbor Freight Central Pneumatic 21 gallon cast iron 2.5hp air compressor. Make sure you check out what the oil looks like after the 30min break in period! I also take off the cover and check out underneath!

    That 21 gallon is probably their most popular compressor. They have coupons for it constantly.

    I just got mine today and decided to find a video about the 30 minute break in time...seems like a long time to run it opened up like that

      Very true, it seemed like a long time, but I just followed the break in recommendation. I've done a couple spray job's, where it cycled/ran alot, and it's still running great!

      @@ucanduitdude2317 I wasn't even planning on buying one at the time but I've been needing one for a few years since my old one quit..I had just gotten paid and walked into Harbor freight and decided to just look at the prices, and then decided after reading the specs on this one and at $150, I had to have it...I felt like a slave to the system anytime I had to simply put air in my tires that I had to go to a store and load 1.75 in change into a compressor that may or may not work...a man that likes to work on his vehicles and other projects needs to have a compressor..

    Do you empty your tank at the end of the day? I'm always concern about leaving compressed air, as I'm not sure when I'll use it again. Thanks

      I generally keep the tank fully charged up. We have 6 cars in our household and inevitably someone's tire needs a bit of air, or I need to run an impact wrench, etc. I do empty out once in a while to drain any water at the bottom of the tank. Thanks for the comment/question.

    I put the oil that came with it in then run the motor for 30 minutes with the air valves open. I then drained it and put in new synthetic air compressor oil.

    Does not ship with oil in it, like any small engine appliances, never is oil pre-installed. Remove the bottom cap to fill the oil tank.

      Exactly! And most all need a break-in procedure completed. This compressor is still running good so far. Thanks for the comment.

    Can this compressor be used to paint an entire car? By the way great vid really enjoyed it

    • @ucanduitdude2317
      @ucanduitdude2317  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are using a LVLP spray gun, it might be okay. But if your using an HVLP gun, this compressor will struggle to keep up. I tried painting a whole car with my old Craftsman compressor and had to stop and wait for pressure to build. 9 to 10 CFM minimum with an HVLP gun I would say?

    • @isaacc3307
      @isaacc3307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I paint cars for a living. Yes you can paint a whole car with either type of gun, i use the hplv, just give it 1 minute to catch up per side. For instance, paint the whole left side of the car, wait a minute, then paint the right side, wait a minute, then front bumper and hood, wait a min, then rear. Usually for a good paint job u want to pick up the wet edge in the middle of the hood, trunk and roof IF you had a big enough compressor, but since u don't you have to paint the hood, trunk, and roof on their own if you're using that small of a compressor unless u want a line going down the middle.

    Can you use synthetic oil instead?

    • @ucanduitdude2317
      @ucanduitdude2317  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. I've had Amsoil synthetic compressor oil in there ever since. It's still working great.

    I enjoyed your video, but think about investing in a tripod so you can use both hands

      Thanks! Yes, I did get a tripod a couple months ago, but need to use it alot more! I did use it during one portion of the video, but definitely need to use it more often. Thanks again for the comment.
