That '70 Cadillac isn't a Coupe DeVille... It's a DeVille... They called the convertibles "DeVille".
I'm thinking it was originally gold... Or maybe blue, considering the Gas Station Attendent Blue paint on the rear quarter underneath the black.
The rough running is probably from an out of shape Quadrajet... But those can actually be built to run like Swiss Watches... No lag or anything.
    The engine is a 472.
That particular car looks like it's got everything that was available in 1970, except for the 60/40 split front seat... Not many people bought that option, for some reason.
It DOES have the passenger side rearview mirror.
It's a nice one... That Cadillac 472 is a super reliable engine. The transmission, running gear and suspension are all heavy duty stuff, too... Not much to go wrong with them.
I hope you got that car, and for a good price. You'll probably like it so much, you'll keep it.
I wish I never sold my Lavender '69 ragtop... But that was back in the 1980s.
The 69-70 convertibles are getting scarce.

I like it how from the 80s to the 2000s Lincoln kept the same dash beeper tones. Thats respect to tradition that I like.

Hey Randy, that Kia Koup probably had an aftermarket air intake installed. The previous owner probably took it off and threw the stock parts back loosely before it was repossessed.

We had a brand new 2000 KIa Sephia and had it for 12 years. No problems at all and mint condition till a deer with no insurance ran out in front of the car, and when we took the car to Florida in 2000, so many people were looking at the car because they never had seen one.

I had a 69 Sedan Deville. Bought her in 77 from the original owner. Those 472 engines were strong, the 69 was rated at 375 horses, and they were mated to a turbo 400 transmission. My friends in high school made fun of me as I liked the big luxury liners over the camaros, Chevelles, etc. I would drag race them, and I won more races than I lost. One of my friends inherited his mothers 72 Cadillac a few years ago, after sitting for a while he pulled the engine and transmission, rebuilt both and put that power plant and transmission in a C- 10 short bed pickup. It'll get up and go, or if you prefer, you can roast the tires off it. Long live the old Cadillacs.

Porsche Cayenne, over here in the UK, the battery is under the passenger seat, as for the air suspension, there could be a very easy fix, take a look at Wheeler Dealers, on Discovery, they had the same issue on the same model. Rare car, I don’t think we got that model here great post👍

  • @KiwiStag74
    @KiwiStag74 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Randy. I've not owned that model Honda, but I have owned a car that blew a head gasket in a very weird way. When you parked the car, the cylinders would fill up with coolant and you'd turn the key and hear the starter engage and try to turn it over, but get nowhere - in fact, it cranked like the battery was flat - just like that Honda did. A few tries on the key (like you did to the Honda) and it would eventually roll over and fire. My guess is that it was pushing all the coolant out the exhaust valves when I was repeatedly hitting the key and then once that piston got to the top, the next one would do the same until it was all gone and she could turn. No water showing in the oil at all and no oil in the coolant either. I just thought the car was being cantankerous until one day after getting it to start, I drove down the road and there was a huge plume of steam so big, I could not see behind me on my side of the road for a couple of hundred metres. It looked like the engine had disintegrated and she was blowing smoke; the steam was that thick! Good call not to bid on it, mate.
The Kia - lovely little cars. Good for about 250-300k miles before they give you problems as long as they are well maintained. An absolutely lovely colour too, that one and I believe it would resell quite quick as a result. The wear on the upholstery is typical and as a warning, you'll need to check whether there is an air bag in that side bolster of the driver's seat. If there is, you don't want to drive it until the bolster is reupholstered in case the air bag goes off, as it will take the path of least resistance and not necessarily deploy in the way the manufacturer intended. The Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO is famous for wearing the driver's seat outer bolster and people have been severely injured by the airbag that deploys right at kidney height. Trust me on this....it's not pretty.
The Cayenne - as well as the issues with the air suspension, they are well known for engine electrical issues - especially if a little water has got in somewhere. My immediate thought was the alternator has a fault because a) it obviously did not charge and b) I have seen where alternators can drain / kill batteries because something (I forget what it is called) inside it lets go and draws power instead of producing it. Also, the plethora of warning lights on the dash would have put me off if the air suspension hadn't already. There's easy $6-9k if you broke it up for the salvage market anyway, so worst case scenario if you won it........
That old Caddy - man! I'd give my eye teeth for something like that to cruise in. The quarter panel doesn't look too bad at all and most of it could be massaged out. My only concern would be keeping that top fin straight and that trunk gutter / gap being right. The bumper and left rear tail light surround / housing would be a pretty penny though, I bet.
The 300C and Town Car are dead, sadly. The Vette - what's the cost of a good second hand LS3 engine over there? If replacing the starter just showed that the engine itself was toast, is there enough money left in the resale value for a transplant? She was a seriously nice car with a good retail value.....I'd be tempted, mate. I really would......
Anyway - that's my 10c worth All the best!
