  • A friend of mine mentioned there was a 1956 Caddy Sedan Deville rotting away in his grandmothers garage. And that it was PINK! Well Duff and I couldn't pass that up! Lets see if we can get this thing back on the road after 50 plus years of sitting abandoned in a 2 stall garage! Sorry guys but this one is already spoken for. I do still have the engine and transmission however if you need a core 365 OHV V8.

    You stuck with that so much longer than I would have with that motor. However, you outdid yourself with the Puddin appearance and to top it all off, a pressure washing. Thanks for making Monday mornings so enjoyable. I hope this car doesn't make you lose the shop.

But unless or until it runs and drives no point in fixing/replacing the sheet metal. Considering the shape of the engine/trans is as bad as the rest of the car, i'd guess it's just a parts car now or a derby car.

    That poor Caddy. It was a beautiful car in its day. Oh well, as beautiful as 50s Caddys are, they weren't the best technology wise in the 50s unless they were kept extremely nice. Later Caddys have definitely gotten better, like any car I suppose. I've always been told that the breakthrough technology is stuff that GM experimented with, but they didn't want to put them in their Chevys, Pontiacs and Buicks, so they would basically give that stuff to their Cadillac division and say "here you go, knock yourself out, Cadillac" so to speak. I do like Cadillacs 60s (the 50s for their body styles) on up definitely had torque, not the best torque but pretty d&mn okay in my book. Definitely not muscle or truck torque, but their torque. Love the models and body designs throughout the years... and yes their technology after the 50s anyway.

      Yes they did. The were the terror of the NHRA Junior Stock classes. 1955-1957 Chevy Sedan Deliveries were allowed to run them and they kicked but in their classes. Of course the Pontiacs did well with them too.

      There are definitely some experts out here but I'm not going to say anything🤣.I've seen too many TH-cam know it all guys, one of them was telling me not to use or he couldn't use a ohm meter on a coil, he just takes the coil and throws it in the corner and I thought what a baby. But he broke out his own meter to test diodes, and I thought what a hypocrite not mortski some other dude. that had a TH-cam channel and thought he was God, he is very smart but he's not God. have a good day too bad that Cadillac was stored like that. I told him you can use a battery and a light bulb to test dials where do you use a ohm meter only when you want to .🙄

    As I continue to watch that trans is a buick dynaflow they used them about a few yrs in some caddy's cause the hydramatic plant burned bad in like 1955

    Penzoil Note: My dad bought a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville in 1966. Car had 3,200 miles on it and had it's first service before he drove it off from the dealership. He changed the oil in the car religiously its whole life at or before 3,500 miles and used Penzoil 10W-40 its whole life. He gave me the car for Christmas 1983 and in 1984 the timing chain broke at 158,000 miles. When I removed the valve covers there was literally only room for the rockers to move. Everything else was solid sludge, lifter valley was just as bad. I don't care if they say that they have changed the formula, I will not use Penzoil in anything ever.

    Looks just like the one my Mom drove back in the day... we got rid of it in about 1964... 300 HP 365"... 4 speed Hydramatic... called "The Florida Color"... coral rose... Don't think it's a torque converter, just a fluid coupling used in a really low 1st gear only and then bypassed for direct mechanical 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for better MPG... prolly do 140 MPH...

  • @kimchipig
    @kimchipig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well, I'm guessing maybe the frame was still okay? Maybe a restoration project for a really dedicated Cadillac fan with REALLY good metal fabricating skills. If you were to keep it, you'd have to name it Elvis. Either that or Mary Kay but Elvis gives it a little bit of masculinity.
