    The live bidding portion of this, while I know it's not sustainable, is actually super unique and adds a lot of suspense to these walk around videos. Try to include them when you can!

    I had 2000 VW Passat with 1.9TDI engine with over 350k miles and i curse the day when i sold it couple years ago, beacuse it was the best car i ever had and ever probably will have. I owned it for 15 years and never had any major issue with it.

    Randy, like the new format. Live biddings gives the viewer a little drama! The 58 Chevy has a 348 / 409engine. They are known for overheating, blowing head gaskets and cracking heads. Have done a lot of small block V8 conversions on those cars. The car lines look great. Way over priced. I remember this car from American Graffiti.

    • @red58impala
      @red58impala 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As soon as I saw the picture of the engine I knew it was an old W head engine. Unless the engine was swapped out the 409 didn't come out until 1961. I believe Chevy actually made a W head 427 for one or two years (1965?) but they are very rare. My Impala came with a 348 with a single 4 bbl. The old man my father bought the Impala from had dropped in a 409, I think from a 1964 Impala.
      My dad started rebuilding the 348 and never finished. He passed away and I ended up dropping in a 400 small block. I think the only thing I had to do for the swap was to change the motor mount from a small block Chevy to a big block Chevy and the exhaust. The chassis mounts stayed the same.
      I still have the 348 and have thought about rebuilding it but probably won't due to the added costs since the parts are more rare than small block parts. I seem to remember reading they had some valve issues, but I might be misremembering.
      I believe the car in American Graffiti was an Impala.

    The new style of walk around with all of us being included in the bidding, I feel is great. Often sit here and wonder what happens after you say good bye after the walk around and the cars suddenly appear. What did you have to do to get them there and now we know. It's not easy and all it takes is money and a lot of hard work.

      I still miss mine. I live in Latin America now so I do see them for sale here in mint condition. I'm snagging one soon. They just go forever. Never left me stranded. I think GM realized nobody will buy their new stuff if they keep making cars so reliable. As for the German cars.... People who have more money than brains buy them new and then Randy, TK, Lucky and Monkey wrench mike pick them up for 4000, do a little work on them to make them roadworthy, sell them or drive them until they self destruct. Be like them, don't be buying the newest from Germany. It's not your father or grandfather's Mercedes that last forever. It's an overpriced disaster heading to copart. Wait... Nah go ahead and blow you money on them. More content for Mike, randy, TK Lucky and Monkey wrench mike.

    Delray in 1958 was the base model. My Dad had one as a company car, 283 with 3/tree. It was fast. Later years the base model became the Biscayne. In 58 the Biscayne was one above the Delray.

    Chevy had the Delray for only a couple of years. It was a model with a special interior in 1956, but not a base model. However, in 1958 it was the bargain basement model below even the Biscayne. Above the Delray in 1958 was the Biscayne, Bel Air, and the newly introduced Impala.

    Hi Randy I really like your idea to bid online while you are showing the car. That’s a lot of fun, my husband Tom and love watching you show the chart cars. One other thing is the bio cars, if you don’t want to show them don’t even bring them up because I had no problem with that it shows how unsafe or safe the car really is. Keep doing what your doing you are really good at your UTube content.

    That LS430 is a good one to get. It doesn't have air suspension, so that's one less thing to fail. The Mark Levenson stereo requires VERY specific speakers; you can't just put anything in there. It may be easier to have the original speakers re-foamed if they're still there. It'll sound AWESOME if you get them done though. Watch out for a loose gear shift linkage and worn suspension bushes - it's a heavy car. Expect around 25mpg (US) when cruising and 16 around town. I wish I still had mine! :)

    Hey randy you’re right about the equinox blowing up. The 2.4 Lea has severe timing chain issues and oil consumption issues and the guides will break between 70,000 and 100,000 miles. I put a motor in my 2.4 regal at 90,000 so if you’re looking for something that will last longer get the v6, however, the 2.4 is substantially cheaper and easier to work on although it’s sluggish when paired with the MH8-6T40. You aren’t getting anywhere fast in a 2.4 equinox!

    In my limited experience, just because it has a bunch of crud at the edge of the trunk and hood doesn't necessarily mean it had been sitting a while, just that it wasn't cleaned well often. All of my cars and families cars tend to have that crud because we have trees they sit under. Wouldn't have walked away that quick from it personally.
