    Today I just got a crazy deal on a Craftsman DYS4500 with bagger, blower, cab, weights and chains. Of course all the blower parts were in a box and I knew this was going to be fun trying to figure out and now that it's evening, I came to my office and did a simple search and walla! As I listened to your opening statement, I knew immediately that you made this video JUST FOR ME! lol. All those parts you were trying to figure out all looked familiar as I was acquainting myself with my task ahead! Thanks! I'll report back when finished.

    Good instructional video. Many years ago i purchased a new Ariens EZR 1742 zero turn mower. At the time the Ariens dealer had available this exact same snow blower. All the same components you installed on the Craftsman mower were came with the snow blower that I purchased. The only difference was the Ariens has an electric clutch, thus being the cable to engage the snow blower was not needed. I've used mine for almost 20 years. Wear factors in my snow blower were final drive belt, the short shaft that is between the 2 pulleys would wear. and skid bars. All these parts are inexpensive. Agri-Fab is the manufacture and parts are easily available. Thanks for the video.

    I have the same snow blower, with a Craftsman tractor. I noticed your skid plates are half rusted away - when mine got to that point, I flipped the left and right plates, which puts the non-rusted half of the skid forward, and you can almost double the life of the skids. Meanwhile, I moved to a new place with a gravel/dirt driveway, so I flipped my skids upside down and shifted them forward a couple bolt holes, giving me enough clearance to mount a couple of large roller blade wheels to keep the blower a couple inches above the ground, keeping my driveway intact and rocks off my lawn. :)

    I am proud of you... excellent thought process. I filled my rear tires with winter washer fluid on sale, this added approx 60 lbs/tire, then my chains were able to bite well

    Ty Matt,for making this very helpful video. I just bought a used but never installed blower assembly off CL for 500.00 all parts included. Your video will make it a breeze with installation. I have a craftsman tractor and craftsman blower. Wish me luck. Ty again.

      Good luck! Make sure you have chains as it won't move without them (ask me how I know).

    I love my craftsman snowblower attachment i had to do some slight modifications to it one was replace the steel lift arms to chains to get the snowblower to lift higher ( you can drill new holes in the arms to) and second was add more groove in the shoot so it has more then 180 dagrees of turning

    I often thought about that every year when I put my lawn tractor away for the winter, but after thinking about it, I decided it's much nicer sitting inside my nice warm 4 wheel drive truck with a plow to do the work, instead of freezing my nuts off out on a lawn tractor. It's also alot of fuckin around with taking the mower deck off and putting the blower on every fall, then taking the blower off and putting the deck back on every spring, so I just dropped that idea. The plow goes on the truck in a minute anyways.

    Great video thanks for making it. I picked up a snowblower that looks exactly like yours, but I can't find a model number on it for parts. Do you happen to remember what that number might be? Thanks

    I bought my blower used - like you did here - and thanks, btw, for replying with your manual link (below)! However, instead of a lift arm, mine has an electric lift and for the life of me, I cannot figure out - with electric lift OR a manual handle - why can't I get my blower to lift off the ground? There's an obvious 'scissor' type mechanism to this, but I can't figure out how the mechanics of it works and how to get leverage for lifting. It's obvious some parts are missing. I have the blower running fine - even with the control cable - I just can't lift it up! Was wondering if you could detail how yours works and possibly explain what I'm needing to do. Enjoying our indian summer this next week, but then my clock runs out! lol. Any assistance is appreciated!

      Mike - look at around 13:33 of the video (th-cam.com/video/Yt4uWSXOYFs/w-d-xo.html). There is a closeup of the mechanism that lifts the thrower. It is nothing complicated - just leverage. It has that bent rod that goes into the bracket that is indirectly attached to the long arm that lifts the thrower.

    • @JodBronson
      @JodBronson 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Romeo Holland - Get a rope and " wing " around. Tie it together and CUT IT in half. From that, use the measuring tape and find out. Add " 2 Inches " to that so it can be " outside " measurements. Go to Tractor Supply, they have a lot of selections / sizes. Home Depot / Lowes only carry certain stuff.
