Mounting A Used Snowblower Attachment To A Craftsman 917 Series Lawn Tractor

After several videos where we prepped my old Craftsman 917 Lawn Tractor to get a Craftsman snowblower attachment, in this video we finally get to mounting it up.
We had to order various mounting brackets and hardware, but all in all everything was a smooth process.
Only some minor modifications left and it will be all set to tackle the coming winter.

Ahh yes finally the right video. I found a similar era tractor on the side of the road and just rebuilt the engine. Waiting to see if I can find the right deal on a attachment for these upstate NY winters

I have one of the original single stage “snow-throwers”, this thing is BADASS! So much rotating mass, if it gets under the ice it has zero issue chopping and shooting a good distance. Plus no sheering pins to deal with.

I too use wheel weights and chains on the back. Kind of wish I had some weight for the front wheels. When the thrower is down it becomes really hard to steer. What I plan to do before installing this season is put my dual LED light kit on and might change the belt(bought the Kevlar ones too). We should be getting a decent amount of snow this season, the last couple only afforded me one or two morning of use. Can’t wait to see what you think of it!!!

I'm super exited to put it to some use. I've been super busy so I haven't done the last few final touches to it but should be getting to it soon.
I've got a plan to use a large concrete block on the rear-end for weight only because I've got the materials on hand and won't cost me anything to try at least

i had a 45 in craftsmen snowthrower given to me however i installed it on a husquvarna 348 xd lawn tractor. after some adjustment with a cuttting torch and trying to get the brackets i ordered i had to cut some front mounting holes now it fits and the main belt off the blower i think is too long wish you had the routing on it. it throws the belt off, so not sureif i need a shorter one.

Can't help but wonder if you hadn't moved the 2" in the pulley module (because of mower deck size), that not only may your front belt have worked but also perhaps that pulley that you removed might have cleared. Just wondering...

I doubt it, the pulley is just way to small, adding another pulley into the mix would have made the problem worse.

I got the same snow blower attachment put it on today but it won't lift up the snow blower attachment

Any info on the belt .looked everywhere but no luck.

No official info. I'm not sure why the manual calls for a 114" belt ... it's not even close in my case.
I did however get a 117" belt ... seems just about perfect ... used it today actually, worked great.

Is it possible to attach a different brand blower to different riding lawn mower. For example- craftsman snow blower to an mtd riding mower

It might be possible if all the mounting bolt hole locations line up

if you blow the tranny, replace it with an mst 206, they are stronger than the one in it, and the snow blower may put a lot of load on the rear end and blow it up

Do you have the part numbers for the pullys themselves im missing them. Guy gave me the snowblower for free, but no pullys.
