@@MrTdroppingknowledge the manual doesn't say how long it is, but they do give a Craftsman part # 42992 and if you search that, you should be able to find it listed by part number, not size. Good luck, thanks for watching!
Thank you for showing how the intermediate assembly gets mounted. Good job going slow, talking slow and having good camera angles. I found it very helpful.
Best version of this job I've seen so far! Organized, easy to hear and see, covering almost all the details. i imagine with the manual in front of me I could accomplish this without too much trouble. Really well done!
I've got 400 feet of gravel driveway and I like your added wheels solution to the outside of the auger housing. My Craftsman 26HP Garden Tractor does not have a snow blower so I am on the lookout for a used assy like you found. Installing rubber wipers on the impeller blades will help you deal with heavier wetter snow conditions. Thanks great install video.
Very helpful! I got both my gt5000 used and my snowblower attachment used, separately. This helped me identify the missing parts I need for mounting the pulley tray! Well done!
I know this is an old video, but at 12:17 you can see that the idler has been pulled out of square I have the same unit on a different tractor which had a habit of throwing belts until I got a new frame because the idler was pulled off square, bending the frame around its stud. I replaced the studs holding the idlers with a shaft that goes the width of the frame, so that the idlers are held from both sides. Some lock collars to hold everything in place and zero issues since then! Hope this helps.
Nice video. The right idler pulley mounting point on my snowblower assembly seems to be bent, and the belt itself likes to flip upside down on the vertical pulley as a result. It seems like a strange design to have such tight twists and bends with a looong unsupported section. Some recommend replacing the 5/8 x 114" belt with a 1/2" for better flexibility but I'm not sure if the reduced friction is worth it. I usually end up going through two belts each season
For the "engine to snowblower carriage" assembly... 1/2 x 55" if you have a manual clutch or anything smaller than a 48" mowing deck 1/2 x 56" if you have electric clutch and 48" mowing deck The clutch pulley must be smaller on the manual / 38" deck, so the snowblower will use a slightly smaller belt as well.
I have the same assembly I'm attaching to my lt1000. It mentions an attachment clutch switch. Is there an electronic attachment switch on other models? My underbelly plate is currently on the engine pulley directly, with moderate tension. Is there a way to hook up the spring clutch used for the deck engagement ? Thanks
I'm not sure how to connect it with the cable style mower deck. Mine was the electronic clutch where the belt connects to the engine. Hopefully you can but the spring tensioners need to be pulled fully tight otherwise it throws the belt at first contact with the snow. Good luck 🤞
I suspect the Lt 1000 isn't designed to have the snow blower attached. I think it's the smallest of the lawn tractors. I know even my dyt 4000 isn't supposed to have some accessories because of it's size. I believe the gt 5000 is the big boy that is designed for all of the toys. You might consider upgrading to a larger lawn tractor if you can't find a solution for the snow blower.
Thank you for this!!! One question. What did you do with the cable/spring that is used for raising an lowering the deck? As in did you leave it connected and put it somewhere or did you remove it?
Im sorry, that was the only part I forgot to show. On my model (DYT4000) of lawn mower, I just pull the deck adjustment all of the way back up to level 6 and the mechanism just stays on the frame. It stays clear of the pulleys.
I have blown two belts so far this year, any tips? I dont have the same mower, but i have the same blower and am running the B112 115" OC, I ordered a kevlar one to try, but at $50 a pop this is adding up quickly.
The only things I've noticed is that you want the tensioners to be pulled fully tight and the pins set on the last chain link. Also, be patient with the snow. You want the engine loaded, but not bogging down. That puts a lot of strain on the belt, better to just let the auger chew through the snow at it's own pace. Finally, check all of your pulleys to make sure the spin free and true. Good luck, that sounds frustrating
Make sure the 2 pulleys on the front of the snowblower on each side of the main auger pulley are not flared out to one side or the other and that you can see the belt transition to the v of the side pulleys. Some videos have shown going to a 1/2 " v belts vs oem 5/8. They say it fits in the pulley valley a tad bit deeper. Hope that helps
@@quevicular the snowblower has been discontinued, so you'll need to locate one used. Or maybe someone has an old stock one sitting on a shelf somewhere. Good luck 🤞
@@fordtechchris gulldamn man. Anyways, ty for your fast response time. Awesome video showing exactness of install. Lots of positive comments here. Keep it up.
Okay, I'm struggling here... I'm having a hard time stretching the belt that runs from the auger to the back pulley. I looked up my blower model and found the belt is a 5/8 114. Is there any tips or steps I'm missing that would help me? I got it on the blower no problem ( under bottom pulleys then twisted to the top of the bigger pulley.) but I almost feel like there is too much to stretch over the back end under the tractor itself.... Just hoping theres something simple I can do to help in this process. Thanks!
From watching a craftsman video, they say to have the snowblower tilted down and not have the top pins in, connect the belt and then lift the snowblower and put the top pins in. They say it gives you additional slackness in the belt. Hope that helps
What size wheels did you buy on Amazon for the snowblower on gravel? I’ve got 125 feet of gravel driveway and somehow haven’t broken any of the sheer pins yet but I do notice a lot of gravel getting thrown into the yard. I’ve got the same snowblower as you on my craftsman. Thank you
6 Inch Solid Wheel Replacement... www.amazon.com/dp/B0816CZ2HT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share These are the ones I bought. It looks like these are discontinued but search 6" wheel chair wheels and more options come up. Good luck!
The tension chains do need to be pulled as tight as you can. Ideally you should be pinning the last link. If that doesn't work, I suspect you may have a bad switch somewhere.
@@zweebertgrt8851 then you might have a short in the PTO switch. The switch should be off when pressed in, on when pulled out. And the engine should die with the auger running if you get off the seat.
@@fordtechchris I don't think so it was working fine when I had the mower deck on, I think I'll just have to attempt to adjust the tension chains until it works properly. I have had this same problem in previous years, but it has been a while. Thanks for the help
It actually works just fine. It gets pushed through stuff and when turning it doesn't bind either. It leaves me about .5 inch of snow/ice in my gravel so I don't pick up rocks in the blower. But the chains are a must at that point.
I think some of the other mower decks come apart differently. But I'm pretty sure all of the tractors have the attachment points for the blower. I'm not 100% though. You might have to crawl under there and see if you can match them up

The open of the cross chain should face out
thanks man so i just need to make those 2 bracket
What are the belt sizes? I have the blower belt but do I use the mower deck belt for the other one?
I'm not sure about the size, but there is a smaller belt for the engine to pulleys. The linked manual should have a part number for you
For the "engine to snowblower carriage" assembly...
1/2 x 55" if you have a manual clutch or anything smaller than a 48" mowing deck
1/2 x 56" if you have electric clutch and 48" mowing deck
The clutch pulley must be smaller on the manual / 38" deck, so the snowblower will use a slightly smaller belt as well.

I found mine locally used. I think MTD still makes a generic one as most lawn mowers are made by MTD
But the used market cost will vary

HOW well does this snow blower attachment work. How far will it throw show and is it any good on wet show?
I think it works great. It throws snow about 20 -30 feet. Wet snow is a problem for any snow blower and at times it will only move it about 10 feet.

What about the engagement cable?
This model has an electric clutch, not a cable. I can't show how to disconnect the cable. Sorry
When I turn my tractor on my augers turn and when I engage the clutch nothing happens, I think it's my tension chains aren't tight enough?
