    A clean workbench is an unused worldbench. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed the content. I'd like to get into this hobby, despite having more hobbies now than my life can handle in my available free time. But yeah, your video came up as a suggested, and it made me a subscriber. Hope to see more.

    Great Video. Did a search for Mig paints and washes. WILL be making a purchase in the next couple weeks.
    NOW FOOD FOR THOUGHT: While you are taking a Sci-Fi Break here is an idea for the Sci-Fi roof structure. Using a thicker, stronger roofing beam system. Then use a clear acrylic as an atrium roofing.
    Now a modeling heresy, use CA Glue as the adhesive.
    Yes I know that the CA will have a smokey effect to the acrylic. That's the idea. You will have a distressed translucent view from the exterior inward when the roof is closed. Add this Mig murky effect paints will keep your line of sight view distracted. You will still be able to lift the atrium roof for line of sight shots.
    You will still be able to install your lighting effects to the underside of the roofing skeleton.
    Also to add to the adventure aspect, for one end of the roof peak to middle tier install a "Slide For Life" line. Then during photo shots your hero mini-figure could escape over the heads of the ogers.
    In any event I more and more enjoy your work and style. Way2GO.

    Tips: You can use an old ATX computer power supply to power everything, like R/C model tank or steamboat smokers from Ebay for your factory smoke stakes. You can connect and under volt that 120mm computer fan with a 12 volt Rheostat speed control knob, so it's barely moving for more realism. Check out my Metro Exodus PC Mod Final Video, and Thanks for sharing your tips and everything else!

    Jason, the depth of your knowledge, skills and just plain brilliance is endless. It is always good to take a break and do something different in order to rejuvenate oneself. A friend of mine was saying after watching this build he wants to go to G scale but has to much in HO. Watching you has thought me so much when I felt I had nothing new to learn for I felt I had a good handle on my weathering technique. Boy was I wrong in thinking that for you can teach an old dog new tricks. I have my mother watching your channel for she finds interest in under water metal detecting and you building your buildings. As always another super great and wonderful training video you have produced. From my friends the modeling community and ME a huge THANK YOU for sharing your time your knowledge and skills with us along with inviting us into your home. Stay safe and look forward to the next video!!!!

    Gotta say, even in the early stages when you had action figures placed on this, the diorama was already upstaging them in terms of detail, realism etc! By the end, I can't imagine anything looking like it belongs there except professional-grade painted miniatures! The contrast between the teal and the warm rust colours that carries through all the details is what really sells this, almost as an illustration of a place - more real than photoreal, if that makes any sense. Will be attempting all of these rust effects on my next project, thanks so much!

    wow man this is purely amazing work this is one of the best dioramas ive seen in a long time! Im working on something similar right now this looks like its almost 1/18 scale am i right? Those bricks look amazing im not gonna lie that seems like a fricken ton of work.. I have a hot wire foam cutter too would you say just carving the bricks into the foam would be much less time consuming?

    • @JasonJensenTrains
      @JasonJensenTrains  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so very much!!! Yes, its 1/18 scale. I like how the brick is different thicknesses so that the face of the wall is not flat. It was fun to try, I love trying new techniques. Thanks for watching!!!

    • @PlumbingExplained
      @PlumbingExplained 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonJensenTrains Will you go with that brick technique again in the future or would you rather just carve the foam. I want to maybe try it.

Which material you used for building it? And also the sidewalks? Did you used pink foam or some other material? Is this a freelance diorama? Or is a prototype from a particular facility?

    9:24 Also, "Let's have some fun and add some rust"…
    … and there you have your merch, on T-shirts, hoodys, mugs etc.
    But seriously - great work, J. Incredible transformation.
    17:10 The mortar joints are brilliant. The gaps probably add to it, I imagine with brickwork that crude the mortar would tend to fall out!

    Incredible! I'm not a modeler (but am an artist), but just some ideas: (1) What about taking a textured boot from an action figure or something and making some very subtle dirty shoe prints around the area of the door? (2) On some of the really rusty pipes, it might be cool to take a heat gun and melt some irregular holes, painting the edges so it looks like it's rusted out so much it has holes.

    Absolutely phenomenal work!
    There are a lot of quite good modeling channels on TH-cam, but the idea to turn every day items like the soda cans, bottle caps, the computer fan or the part of the DVD player into something that great, is really new and stands out for me! This opens up completely new ideas of creativity! - I guess, every time you see something ordinary somewhere, your brain immediately starts thinking, how it could be used for model work. :D ^^
    I'd love to see more examples like this, how non-model-items can be turned into something completely different. This is way more interesting than just watching someone finish already perfect model pieces!
    Greetings from Germany ;)

    I love all those streaking grimes and rusts by Ammo, Vallejo, Ak and Mig. Like you said adding the thinner and dragging it down is the way. Its great cuz unlike acrylics you have a super long dry time. Ive come back hours later with thiiner and touched up areas that I thought were too thick.
    Those little bottles of MiG odorless thinner are super spendy for how much you get. You can get big 8oz bottles of generic Odorless Turpeniod at hobby lobby in the painting section where the oil paints are.

    I know this video is a year old, but I have to say, I was blown away with what you had created, prior to implementing all the modeling/diorama geared weathering products! As I was just watching the video, I thought to myself, man, for how incredible this guy is, I’m surprised he isn’t familiar with, or choosing to work with AK, or Ammo by Mig, weathering products. Their washes, filters, streaking effects, and weathering pigments are incredible. That said, I choose to make my own, with oil and enamel paint and pigments, as a cost saving measure. It also allows the freedom, to infinitely tweak the hues & values.
