The Cardo Freecom X Series builds upon the tried and tested Freecom series of headsets and have trickled down some of the niceties of the higher end PackTalk headsets. With JBL speakers now standard, these headsets will play loud and clear for just about any rider out there.

FREECOM 2X with JBL speakers
Com is well assembled and I'm here to give advice for very CRUCIAL part of installing Freecom and is about speakers position!
Me and my wife have same helmets in different sizes. Her is XS and mine is XL ( I have a bigger brain 😉) They are SHARK Spartan Carbon.
Helmet has pre fabricated position for speakers inside inner shell. First I fitted speakers inside her helmet and I returned padings back for her to try it and see if speakers bother her somehow. There was no bother and I stuck my finger inside to see if it's relative to her ear.
The speaker was 1.5 cm behind ear!!
I took knife and I cuted inner shell so I can move speaker forward. I did it right and speakers are on the ear spot on!!
Then I had my helmet testing with speakers positioned on pre fabricated slots. It fits PERFECT! So it means that I DID'NT HAD TO MODIFY my inner shell at all!
Conclusion:
It is CRUCIAL to test position of speakers before attaching everything! When you do that right, you will be stisfied as I am 🥳
Sound is awesome and be patient with installation!!
For existing Freecom 4 Plus owners like myself, the upgrades with the 4x are as follows:
-USB C with "fast charge"
-Bluetooth 5.2 (4 Plus uses BT 4.1)
-Auto-Reconnect

the auto reconnect was there for quite some time... Me and friends have freecom4+ when we got disconnected due distance, cardo reconnected after the distance was closed

I had the previous bold and slim and now that i have usb c phone i need to buy this (4x) and its much better since i dont use mesh feature.
We bought the Freedom 4 Plus Duo pack last year and love it. Great sound (not as good as in ear buds but you can't expect that) solid connections, easy to use, simple install. I'm glad we bought them.
are the the 4X and 4 plus units the same???

I have some issues with the info presented here:
1. It's Bluetooth 5.2 (clearly visible when in the closeup of the boxes) 1:33
2. I call BS on the universal pairing from these units. Have tried to no avail to connect to Sena users in my riding group. Never works! Software up-to-date. The only video I can find of this working is a cardo marketing vid for an older unit that has a separate Universal Pairing mode whereas the 2X has just one pairing mode.
3. Natural Voice Technology: The advantage of the 4X is that the CARDO SOFTWARE can respond to some commands ("Hey Cardo"..."). I have the 2X and use a Samsung Galaxy S10. With Bixby set to "voice wake-up", you can still initiate voice commands without pressing anything on the 2X ("Hey Bixby...") because the Mic is always listening.
4. How many riders can you connect to? 2X = You and one other rider; 4x has two channels to connect to others, to connect to 3 other people, you daisy-chain from another unit's spare channel
Also, it's not a review if you don't actually test and demonstrate the units' functions
Just FWIW on #2 and #4: 2 - Just tested pairing a 4X to a Sena 50S/R in BT mode, no issues. It's not the easiest thing in the world (which is basically just an industry/customer running joke at this point) but still possible. I've done it on long rides too, and when they disconnect you have to pull over to get them back together which is a PITA. But hey, that's company v company for you I guess. 4 - While the connection is daisy-chained for distance, connecting up 4 units just gave a pretty standard conference-style chat for us here in the ZLA office.
As for testing the units: we do test them here in the office and out on rides - we just don't have the capacity to show that in our videos. Maybe in the future we can bring it back though. Thanks for the feedback C JH, ride safe!
#4: Can I pair a freecom 4x to two cardo spirits?
@@flavionagle Yes, but they could only talk to the 4X or the other Spirit one at a time, not all 3 in conference mode. The Spirits are only capable of talking with 1 other unit at a time regardless of what type of unit that is.
Can you use the Google assistant on the 2x just by saying "hey google"?...honestly the only reason why I'm looking at the 4x over the 2x is the voice control. If I can do that for cheaper on the 2x that would be great.
@@newfjuice6691 I use Bixby with it set to "Voice wake-up". Then "Hey Bixby.." activates the prompt, then you wait for a beep, and then continue the command. Alternatively, pressing the rear (phone) button on the device initializes the voice prompt. Before replying to your comment, I had never tried Google Assistant. I tested it now for you and it works just fine when I say "Hey Google...". Seems like Voice Wake-up keeps the mic listening for either assistant. To be clear, I'm using the Cardo Freecom 2X and a Samsung S10 Edge Plus. Just don't expect the universal connectivity to work... I have such a huge issue with, one the hand, being told that it's an industry joke, and on the other hand the marketing BS is being repeated as if it's a legit function. The instructions are to set the other person's device to phone pairing. Nobody give up their phone pairing channel. The 4X voice control seems to be based around a Cardo voice assistant. At least we can universally connect to several voice assistants, just not out human friends.
I'll buy the now discounted Freecom 4+ JBL now thanks 😬😬
If there are (8) people with a 2X will everyone hear each other or will there be random connections between riders?
Got the 2x. Yes it way too expensive, but it works really well. I was going to buy cheaper alternative but was afraid it'll end up being crap and I'd have to buy another one. Decided just buy the best. Adititional nice feature, volume goes up when you speed up and goes to original volume settings when you slow down. For example when you ride on the street and then get on a highway

@@Chris-0113couldnt be happier! it was an easy install - the sound is great, battery life is long, and the integration with siri/voice cmds is seamless. this was a easy purchase w/ no regrets.
i have the freedom 1 is there any 1 who had the 1 and went to the 2 or 4 and is it worth it ?
Only issue I've had really with mine are -
1. Even after messing with the settings in advanced audio...I have to have my music volume at MAX to be able to hear other riders I'm linked with in intercom.
2. My volume randomly turns up, like all the time....not sure why this is happening but max volume is really high (for my helmet at least) and constantly having to turn it back down is a pain.
Other than that I'm pretty happy with the system (4x).
I got Cardo bold this has a Auto volume setting yours might have this also maybe have look of the app and see what audio settings it has might help you
The trick is to raise the phone's bluetooth volume. This helps a lot with raising the volume ceiling. the random turning up is probably the automatic volume setting. Your mic is probably picking up a lot of wind noise and trying to compensate. This is adjustable in settings.
The volume wheel might be touching the shoulder of your favorite riding jacket during headchecks etc. and is getting turned. The fix for this is to use the stick-on bracket and raise it up a bit on the helmet.
I know this sounds odd, but I hear my comms better with earplugs in. Might help?
Your volume is changing because of it's background adaptive sound feature. It's adjusting your volume automatically in response to background.
Hey dudes. I want to ask about an option called "audio multitasking". Have you ever try to communicate with pasenger while playing music or radio?
I mean, we have 2 units in 2 helmets at same motorcycle. Driver and passenger, we listen music and someone say something. What happened in this case? Is the volume of music going down and when dialogue end music come on? And all of this being automatically without pushing button or give voice command.
What set can do this? 2x? 4x? Or any cheaper?

Mine was doing that as you explained. Then all of a sudden it stopped. It’ll play music but won’t regulate as we talk. So now it’s like we only have music shared or intercom shared. Neither at the same time like I once experienced. I don’t know how to fix this. Anyone else have this issue?

So if get the solo 4x and get my passenger helmet a 2x (or even a different brand) can they still connect? I’m just here thinking it might work out cheaper than getting cardo 4x duel

Just to add, in a setup that 4x connects to 2x, but the 4x is also connected to other 4x. Will the 2x hear those two 4x?
I kept on searching this kind of setup but i keep seeing a group setup with the same max no. of devices. I want to know what will be the behavior when a two-way intercom is connected to a large number of group connected

Okay having watched the entire thing, I have a couple questions: how's the mounting procedure compare to other brands, particularly Senna? Which is a less obtrusive system to mount? (i.e. does one significantly effect the structural integrity of the helmet more than another?)
My brother and I have been comparison shopping comms recently, but we use vastly different helmets so finding one that can fit both of us seems to be proving difficult.
Theyre pretty much the same, these come with a sticky mount and a clamp mount, so there are plenty of options, I have an install video on my channel.

@@wizardmoto I can't recommend Cardo enough over sena. As someone who rode by themselves and in groups of 4 to 8 people who also has senas, pairing is absolute garbage. I went Cardo last year, and pairing takes seconds, as opposed to 30 minutes.

Should be the same. As he said, the body is the same size, just different plastic coloring.

Can two 4Xs connect to an Edge? If so, can all three people talk at the same time?
Yes, they would all be able to chat in BT mode.

Is there any difference in music quality from the 4x to the edge. I only care about sound quality.
If you are using the JBL speakers for both, they will sound the same as far as quality.
@@RevZilla okay thank you on the review video for the 2022 line it made it seem like there was improved sound processing and additional sound profiles on the edge. I have the 45mm JBL speaker upgrade with the freecom 4x.

Yes. I was a few minutes into buying the 2X and thank God I found out that model won’t support voice command
Can I use Spotify with the 2x?
Sure, it would just connect via Bluetooth from your phone (like all other streaming services) to the Freecom

The Bluetooth version isn’t 5.0 on the freecom x models. It’s 5.2, as referenced in both manuals. Please update your video to prevent riders from being mislead
A little later in the vid he does plainly state that they operate on BT 5.2. But yeah, he should edit out the BT 5.0 statement.
So.. the 2X will connect (4) people that have a 2X and the 4X will connect to (16) people that have the 4X? What if there’s 6 people and (2) people have 4X but (4) have the 2X. Will everyone hear each other?
That is what I’m trying to figure out but no one has the answer.

Downside is that Cardo’s parallel function is not compatible with iOS.
Can you go more in depth into what this means?
@@guaconchips3887 Parallel function allows to listen to nevi (or music) while a rider is using intercom with other riders. On iOS(iPhone), a rider is not able to listen to nevi when intercom is activated, no two functions at same time. This is a reply from Cardo regarding the issue. Cardo Service - "I know that this is very difficult that they do not work when the intercom is on, but this is something that we are trying to fix, but we do not have a date when this issue will be resolved and for that i am sorry."

After reading your shipping policy, I guess when an item is purchased it doesn't have to ship right away regardless of the type of shipping. Was I high when I read that? So a product purchased with overnight delivering can hang until someone decides to pack and ship it? 🤔🤷🏽

Not gonna lie, I'm not a fan of Cardo. I've had issues with both units I've had -- all my friends swear by them, but both units I've had have had horrible bluetooth connectivity. Constantly losing/pairing with my phone. The mounting system simply doesn't work either, it's poorly designed.
Does your phone support Bluetooth 5.2?

I just bought the Freecom 4 and I just wasted $200+ (they don't even tell you how to operate the 🤬 thing).

Try another brand, this system will give you headaches to pair your phone, to pair to another rider, connectivity will lose any moment. Not even mentioning price is ridiculous for this unreliable device.
