Nice job on this review --you covered all the details I was considering for a communication devise - getting the Cardo Pack talk this spring Thanks your review solidified it !
Just subscribed to help you get to the magic number. I bought the Sena 20s whenever it was the new, biggest thing. After a few years, its ability to hold a charge was so diminished, I replaced it with a Sena 30k. I've only had it for a couple years. I have the Sena on my ADV helmet. I put the Cardo Packtalk Edge on my dirt bike helmet a few months ago because all my dirt bike riding buddies either had the Cardo or were getting Cardo and we wanted to be able to communicate on the trails. I have to admit that after years with Sena, I prefer the Cardo. I plan to get a second helmet kit so that I can also use the Cardo unit on my ADV helmet and keep the Sena as a spare. I just with the second helmet kit wasn't so expensive.
Great review. I’ve had Cardos for over 15 years (various models). Rode thru almost every weather condition rideable on a motorcycle and had absolutely no issues. I’m looking to buy a new helmet and another Cardo Edge. We ride Goldwing. My riding buddies have Sena 50s. They always have issues pairing their Senas to the bike. I never have that issue.
Thank you! I was debating between these two and as soon as you said the Cardo was waterproof, I knew it was the one for me. :) Appreciate your review of these two.
Thanks for the review... and on Cardo's website they currently have a bundle of packtalk edge and second helmet kit for $476.95. So still expensive, but not too shabby if the quality is there.
I have my cardo packtalk edge paired via BT to a sena mesh+ and turned on bridge mode. So now I'm on the Cardo DMC Mesh and on the Sena Mesh (public channels only). It's pretty neat. The only downside is that I need activate the BT bridge mode using the phone everytime I want to use it. So it's not automatically doing that after powering on both devices.
Great job on the review. I recently switched to a Sena for my Shoei helmet. I didn't know about the waterproof issue. Hopefully, I don't have any issues...if I do, I'll switch back to Cardo.
ArmchairBikersTV, nice job. I'm in the same boat... water logged Sena units and looking for a good replacement. Riding 2-Up on the road and in the dirt, I do have multiple helmets to attach to. Nice clear review. Thanks and keep up the good work. Subscribed and will be back.
Really like the video, so you got a thumbs up from me. Only thing I didn't see you cover is voice commands. I have a Sena 50S dual pack for my wife and I, and they are pure junk. Lot's of connectivity problems, voice commands don't work at all, and it keeps trying to intercom connect to here headset, even when not asked to and I'm riding alone. Junk! So, how is the Cardo with voice commands? I'm an Android guy, so want to be able to say "hey Google" to open the Assistant, then say "call/text whoever" and it will. Have you tried it on the Cardo Edge? Please let me know if you do. Thanks, and God bless.
@@XRRydah thank you for the feedback! I honestly have never utilized the voice commands on either the Sena or Cardo which is why I didn’t mention it in the video. Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you, but the Cardo has been better in every way for me so I imagine you’ll have better luck with the voice commands as well.
Thank you for the detailed review! I currently have a 10R and am looking to upgrade my headset/helmet after 7 years of use. The 10R music quality is pretty terrible.. I'm glad the Cardo is much better!
I have a Sena 10s unit since 2017, ride in the rain, what little we get, Vegas heat, sandy winds, I have done updates which is so damn easy, if you can plug in a toaster, you can update. It works fantastic, battery life great, updated speakers that will blow you out of the helmet, comms work for me, usually only ride with 4 or less people. One of our team has the Cardo, has to follow trends and "what's hot" he has lost one unit messing around while riding, Sena 10S not going to happen cause of how mounted. He also looses connection with other riders who have DMC/ Mesh comm, so seeing in real life with several people who use from the Spirit I think it's named to the Edge unit, not that impressed compared to an old ass unit, that out performs them all.
I bought the 50s 3 weeks ago and unfortunately I had a lot of trouble with them. The dongle workt fine the first time but I couldn't get it hooked up to the network the times after. The reset also doesn't work anymore. Updating the 50s by computers on the orher hand works great. For some reason my noise cancelling (the beeb) kicked in after every call i had, making is "beeping" trough my music every second. I got a second unit but it had the same problems. I have a Freecom 4x so I knew the quality. A switched the 50s for a Pecktalk Neo and no problems or troubles whatsoever. Mayby i was unlucky but if factory research points out there was no problem with the software, then I recommend to never buy the 50s for a Caberg Evo Drift helmet.
I went from Sena SRL-Mesh to Cardo Edge and back to Sena SRL-Mesh. Cardo mesh range is shorter and connections are more problematic when connecting to a bike. Cardo does have better audio and noise cancellation. Battery life for Sena was better
Having the Sena 50s since release. I don't like the software but it connects immediately and never let me down. Not that I do like their design but for me it has the best voice quality. But honestly, I do see a lot of people switching to Cardo. Therefore, I wish you luck with your new ones ;-)
I had a Sena 20S do exactly the same. 1 x 3 hour ride in a winter rain storm and the mic stopped working. Had the 50s for a few years now and not had that issue again fortunately. Hopefully Sena step up their game and actually start waterproofing their units. Cant switch unfortunately, as all of our group uses the sena mesh.
The company Lexin is building nice intercoms. I own by myself a Lexin B4FM and its amazing. It doesn't have mash because its a old model, but the new models have mesh and they are easy connectable with cardo and sena.
My Lexin B4FM stopped charging while in a long motorcycle trip in other country. Imagine me every evening after a days ride, trying to find "the spot" where the cable would make contact with the unit! Just like Mr Bean with the TV antena, if you remember! Had them for 5 weeks, used them daily and then my unit started giving me issues! My wifes unit was good. We selled it when we got back, but mine simply refused to charge. No dropping or smashing... Contacted Lexin but what do you know, the units guarantee coverage expired a month before. Now, from what I've seen, Lexin has a priceing system too close to the established brands. Don't trust to pay $300 for a new LExin when I can get a Cardo at the same price, or maybe $30 more. It's not like you buy intercoms every year!
I had the sense SMH 10 years ago… was a pain to link and after a few years the rubberized outer coating on the unit actually began to degrade and was tacky/sticky to the touch. Literally gave it away.
Havent had good experiences with cardo. Sena was always hit or miss. I picked up Lexin and havent gone back to any other. They have a really affordable option and if ya dont ride with alot of folks, they work well. Im not an audiophile tho. Ive been happy with it Anyone else use Lexin?
I use the old B4FM on one of my helmets and just picked up the B4FM with USBC about a month ago. Rode from Williamston NC to Williamsburg VA and had no issues.
Been using a Freecom 4+ for 3 years. Got it cheap for 280eur for a dualpack Works fine for rider+passenger, but gets very tedious with other riders. Someone gets called, you need to open the app and reconnect the whole hierarchies again. Someone gets stuck and out of range, ya gotta do that again Sound was disappointing at best given how much they charge for the jbl drivers and how much they hype them. Yes they are better than cheapo drivers you get on a plane for free, but far from "high fidelity " audio. My 10€ KZ EDX in-ear monitors sound better in every way Plan to get a Cardo Packtalk Slim DuoPack on the sale for the Mesh connection since i ride somewhat often with a buddy. I doubt that the audio is gonna be better, but finding aftermarket drivers that fit the helmet and can work in hot, sweaty, moist helmets is not too easy
Do you know how this works with other mesh devices? For instance, one of my friends bought a cheap xpg which uses mesh, but I’m buying a Cardo. Do you know if we’ll be able to talk to each other?
@@silentplayz6797 unfortunately I can’t give you a definite answer, I would try to research the device your friend has to get a better idea of compatibility, but I would assume you would be able to connect if it also has mesh
I have the Sena 50S. I will NOT recommend them to anyone. I purchased it at Cycle Gear and purchased the Care Package. Thank God! Water has shorted them out in rain. The batteries stopped taking a charge about 6 months in. I have turned them in twice now for replacement. I still have them, but will be switching to Cardo. Such a waste of money.
Staying with sena. Cardo doesnt give you more than 6 preset radio stations. Not everyone uses podcast and there’s not phone signal on the mountains. I don’t ride under the rain so im not worried about anything else.
Except that the majority of people buy the senas. So if the majority of my motorcycle buddies have the sena 50s, it would make no sense for a guy like me to go and get a cardo. When 75% of the people run the sena 50. S's and 2% run a cardo. It don't work very good. Unless you're just a solo rider and you ride by yourself all the time.
This is something I forgot to mention but Cardo has a new software update that allows the Cardo DMC (Cardo version of Sena Mesh) to be compatible with Sena Mesh by utilizing Bluetooth. It’s a bit confusing to explain but if you go look at the Cardo website it explains how it works and how to set it up. Thanks for watching

Only CARDO’s for my SHOEI’s!! It’s just that simple. SENA headsets are awful in the rain and they do stuff without my input!! SENA, see ya! 👋 ✌️
