  • This was a surprisingly simple and cheap project and it turned out a best idea! How to turn a cheap table saw into something bigger and better, as well as safer!

    You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

    Incredible build.
    Here in the USA the raw materials cost more than new tools.
    I missed how you did the middle plate with the lips for the insert. I would like to have seen that.
    Great final outcome but simple and cheap ? How did you bevel the miter slots?
    For me that much steel and Al would cost me more than I paid for my table saw.
    This is still the best table saw upgrade video I have seen yet.

      I hear ya bro. The cost of Steel here in IRE is a joke too. Ur best bet is a local scrap yard if u want to get a decent deal on the steel nowadays. I bet u could find some good finds there. Just a thought. That's what I do. I also have a mate who collects scrap metal all the time so I try do a deal with him now and again for metal I need if he has it..

    Why didn't u just build a whole new cabinet for the saw riser to fit into bro? U coulda used ply or osb and used steel framing to make it a solid cabinet. I love the table top but that much weight will defo or must have a effect on the plastic in the longterm, no?
    I see u have slots between the steel plate? Is it possible to use them for a mitre gauge?
    I love how flat the saw table is now bro. Good job.
    I have an old table saw with the same issues. I will use some of ur ideas when I finally get round to rebuilding mine.

    Congratulations, it's a great job. I have a question: does the bench saw support the new metal frame? I have a similar machine and I would like to make the same reform as this one, but I am worried that it will not support the weight. Greetings from Argentina

    It should work well at 90 degrees but how does it go at 45 degrees with the trunions being set up for 1mm thin plate and you using 5 or 6mm thick plate? Did you lift the trunions by the extra thickness of the top somehow?

    • @woodtowonder7868
      @woodtowonder7868  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      works very well with a 4 mm plate ... more precisely ..

    • @adamntrace
      @adamntrace 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not trunnions on this saw it is a fixed swing pivot bar. At the correct height of table it will give the same cut path at any angle. The original plate is definitely not thick enough for this so it could be calculated as to the correct table thickness for 1 insert to handle all angles like a trunnion setup 🤔But it is not necessary 🤷‍♂️

    So you took a $100 saw and put $3-400 worth of time, effort and material to make it the saw you wanted. You know for extra hundred and patience you would have gotten yourself a pretty good saw on a good sale day. I’m just saying

      I know this ... this saw, it has sentimental value..my wife gave it to me as a gift not knowing what to choose..I decided to keep it, but it doesn't really help me in what I do ... its table was already bent and it had to be changed..in this movie I tried to show how easy it is to do something that could be done from the beginning by the manufacturing company..only that
