So I bought an 09 escape 2.5l 4wd. There is no selector switch to put it in 4wd. I thought this made it an awd. I am confused on how to test my 4wd to see if it's working without getting it stuck in the mud. That's a bad way to find out if it works.
4wd Escapes are dominantly fwd until you loose traction and then power is sent to rear wheels. So that means you would probably have to try it on ice or gravel road
I've got an 09 v6 awd and im pretty sure the fuses only work on the coupler that connects the shaft from the transaxle to the rear diff. Think of the system as a reverse F 150 layout with a 4x4 transfer case. Hope that helps.
