The Mazda GF was actually based on the Mazda 626 sedan.

My dad used to have a 2011 Escape XLT with the 4 cylinder. That thing was absolutely bulletproof.
I’ve driven fords since 1999. I had an escort and a focus last me 10+ trouble free years each. Now I’m on a 2021 ranger. Planning on keeping it another 10+ years
If it lasts that long. I actually rather like the original Focus and the Escort, but I'd much rather have a Grand AM.
@@isaac24 I had a 99 escort I drove all the way thru high school and college. Then drove the 2011 focus for almost 11 years. Both traded in with 200k miles and both were still running strong.
Currently in my Dads. This is the best car we’ve ever owned. It’s been commuter use for us for 6 years. Bought it used in 2013 with 11k miles and it’s sitting at 193k. Hasn’t let us down once. 2011 Escape XLT is the modern day Model T

I had a customer with a 2001 Ford escape she bought it brand new in 2000, still driving with over 375k miles on it, she never missed any services, that shows what proper maintenance can do.
Was She Also using 5W-20 oil viscosity?
If you don't get a crappy year, that will destroy itself
even if you change the oil and trans fluid every 3 days.
Just junked a 2001 with 224k miles - replaced transmission at 100k with a Ford remanufactured transmission and it failed with 124k on it - even with trans flushing every 50k! Rear main seal leak, ac leak, intake manifold leaks, starter failed, rust, radio failed,etc - would not recommend it,at least the V6
@frankanthony9793 you're mad about a 20 year old car having problems at 224k miles? Bad luck on the transmission...but I would be happy if I got that out of a car.
4 banger or 6 cylinder? I just bought a 2008 Tribute with 179k miles for $2300 and have been wondering how much beans I’ll get out of her before she stops choohin.
Side note: SUV is mint, one owner, and driven by an old man, and has service records from day 1
I’m still driving my 2005 V6 Ford Escape Limited. The older ones looked so much nicer, like a smaller SUV versus a large hatchback.
To me 2010 was alot nicer
Why do these cars have such bad engine and transmission issues? They are nice little SUVs and priced well but every time I do research into any year I see nothing but bad experiences. I personally had a friend who had a 2008 escape with engine failure before 100k soon after buying.

@@Panda-ws7cp My 2005 has way more than 100K on it and have had no issues. Also have a 2015. No issues either.
That is the Porsche-designed 3.0 Duratec reliable engine with the water pump on the outside so it doesn't leak into the engine like the transverse 3.5L The longitudinal 3.5L does not have an internal water pump.
Ford goofed by putting it INSIDE the engine for packaging better for a FWD with limited space.
This is why the truck (longitudinal) does not have this problem.
When I was an international student in US, I bought a 2010 Ford Escape V6. I used it from January 2017 until July 2019 and there was no issues at all even though I have traveled and visited 36 states in that car. Such a reliable car 👌🏻

thank u for this video scotty! i was handed down my 2003 escape limited by my grandma and it is still running amazing at 234,000 miles. my grandad and i are so impressed by the v6. insanely reliable highway commuter with good power
I drive the same exact car. That 3.0 is bullet proof. I have 140k miles on it and take super good care of it. Should last me a long time.
I still own a 2011 Ford Escape with the 4 banger and have over 200k miles on it. It's been one the toughest cars I've ever owned next to my 84 Honda Accord.
Thank Mazda for the engine. It just had Ford controls on it.
Ya, Honda Accords just seem to go and go. I have a 1987 Honda Accord LXi hatch back. Just keeps going and going. Strong little car. No problems, with 232,000 on it so far.
That's the last good escape model. Now the bronco sports, that look almost just like them, ain't bad.
'actually the 2012 is fine. It's 2013+ that went downhill. Especially this newest refresh

And I can attest to the Accord's reliability. We put 564k miles on our '89 LX and sold it running like a charm. Great little car, and lots of fun to drive with a 5 speed! :3

I'm still driving my 2003 Escape. Once let a friend drive it and his first remark getting onto the expressway was, "Wow, this car is zippy! Smooth and quick getting up to 75." With regular maintenance, it runs as good as the day I bought it and I have nearly 200K miles on it.

For reals man my mom had a 2007 xlt model and when she gave me it for my bday I tested it like a new 2022 rav 4( idk if thos exit but you get it )I stepped on it and easily reached the 110 mark but I didn't want to use the whole speedometer(tops out at 120) stills have it and runs like new only thing is it's a oil chugger but that's probobly just how I drive still don't have any complaints tho I love my little escape

I owned two Escapes, a 2012 with the V6 and my current Escape is a 2015 with the 2.5 naturally aspirated, no issues at all.
Yeah...because of your gentle behaviour BUT if u treat the Toyota in the same way it will last more than the double of lifetime guy. Twice as long than your escape thats for sure 100%.

Hold onto it and keep it Naturally aspirated. New escapes only come with ecoboost options and turbos have proven themselves pretty unreliable in the long run.

The 2012 is the one you should have kept! 240 hp v6 reliable as hell

I've had a 2011 2.5 FWD for 3 years. In that time I've: rented it to strangers for 2 years, moved a 6x12 trailer of 1300lbs of stuff from MN to SC, driven the trailer back to MN, and made the same drive back to SC again without worry. At 160k, it's still a reliable commuter just starting to show a little wear. Super easy car for a home mechanic too. It's one of those cars that compels you to pet the steering wheel and say "good job".
I've had a 2016 Escape SE and a 2019 Escape Titanium. Both pretty good cars. Shift nice, plenty of power and good on gas. Works great in the snow as well.
my wife just bought a 2014 escape titanium, it's the dark grey matallic, 100k miles, dark grey leather, really nice litte SUV, she had an 09 Honda fit 5 spd sport for years, which we still have actually, it has 205k but she wanted something bigger, AWD or 4wheel drive and she found this escape. it came with a. 36k mile warranty on the motor and tranny. here has the 2.0 Ecoboost which has a timing chain, luckily
My father owns a 2010 Ford Escape with the v6 that he bought used back 2014, and it’s about to hit 200k miles. Fantastic car no major problem since he’s owned it.
That 3.0 can go 400k if u take care of it the one in my five hundred has 370k and still going strong

My wife had an 09. We traded it off with 280k miles.

This is probably my all time favorite vehicle in terms of quality, versatility , look especially - classic boxy, not too big or small for suv. I WISH they kept the classic lool of ford escape at 2012 ..
The 2008 to 2012 was the best body style. The 2013 and up just don't do it for me.
This is why the Bronco Sport looks the way it does. I think they knew the eggs on wheels weren't gonna cut it for much longer.
We have a 2011 XLT and 2012 Limited...both solid cars but they have rust issues, driver side rear quarter panel plus the older ones has rear window seal leaks.
Get the bronco sport which is basically a modernized version of the classic boxy explorer
@Sblackfll we have two 2nd Generation Escapes...both with AWD and 3 litre. No engine issues at 100k miles on both. Just routine service.
I had a hybrid one that lasted over 400,000 miles, it was a NYC green taxi, I sold it but I heard it's still going. The model years being 2009 to 2012 of course, some of them last 700k

That's apparently the same hybrid that's in the maverick. So the maverick should be pretty solid.
270,000 on my 08 Hybrid Escape, just keeps going and going.
I have a Mariner 08 Hybrid 238,000 miles and and going strong, solid and still gives me 27mpg i'll drive it until mid 300's then i'll be done with it :)
@Lucky Sin Luciano Ford employees, mechanics, and passionate owners on the forums who've done more research than either of us beg to differ. From my understanding the ev motors are new, the battery chemistry has also been charged from air cooled to liquid cooled, and is lithium ion instead of nickel hydride. The transmission, and engine have both been around for a long time, and have proven to be extremely durable. Ford has a good reputation for ev and hybrid reliability, basically every hybrid/ev model they make has above average or excellent reliability ratings. Switching to a liquid cooled system and offering lithium ion batteries instead of nickel are both changes which should enhance powertrain longevity. Liquid cooled ev systems are virtually bulletproof, the few brands still using air cooled, like Nissan, have some reports of ev components overheating. Lithium ion cells generally hold up better when it comes to repeated recharging than nickel cells. Everything about this is indicating the maverick will be reliable. Ford's renewed focus on quality, the fact that they used the very durable and well proven c2 platform and racked up something like 19 million miles of real world and simulated testing. Ford said developing a vehicle with low long term ownership costs was a high priority for the maverick. Not to mention basically every mechanical who's looked the maverick over says it looks like it was designed to be easy to be maintained and worked on. Ford knows people keep their trucks for decades, they know this has to be successful, and it seems like they've delivered.
For the last 5 years my wife drove a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. And when she bought it,, it had just under 200k miles. Talk about a dependable little SUV, that thing was built to last and NEVER left her stranded on the side of the road. Any mechanical issues that popped up with it were minor, not once did it need any major mechanical work, and it got regular vehicle maintenance. She recently decided to upgrade to a 2012 Ford Edge(which is also a dependable CUV)and sold the Escape to the in-laws. That Escape is still trucking along.
Just be careful of the water pump issue in the Edge. If yours is an AWD, change ptu fluid every 30,000 miles or so
Those are notorious for transmission failures head gaskets blown leak and everything i had a 03 with tons of issues also known for misfires rough idle jerseys idling also known for valve covers breaking these are complete rust buckets including their other cars and suvs
If that Edge has the 3.5....watch your oil and coolant. Water pump is located inside the engine. Will leak coolant into the oil ruining the engine.
My 2005 XLT V6 Ford Escape passed 270,000 miles a few weeks ago and it's still my daily driver for the family. No issues.
I have a 2010 and a 2011 Ford Escape with low mileage the only things I've had to do to them replace a battery and brakes and other routine maintenance the 2010-11 Ford Escape are the two best vehicles I've ever owned
i have a 2010 v6 and i am so mean to the car with 169k miles and it has only had a couple of problems, one of which was from procrastinating getting a belt replaced which was my fault. love this car, very happy with it
The Escape series, especially 2nd gen, are solid cars. My 2011 v6 4wd towed pretty well, got 25mpg, was good in the sand and snow, it had really comfy seats and didn't give me much trouble at all. I sold it with 150k miles and it still ran like a champ and had good resale value.

You can't complain about a car when you sell it right before it starts to have issues it definitely would have had transmission issues before 200k you just sold it right before they started they usually start around then
@@zakbrinkhoff324 Nonsense. My 2010 Escape has 220,000 miles on it and it has the original transmission and engine. Wanna know the secret? Keep up the maintenance, including changing out your fluids, and don't drive it hard. I've seen Toyota and Honda transmissions fail way before 200k miles due to careless owners.
@@Austin-wz5xk I second this. My 2012 has over 220k with original drivetrain even after towing a 2000 lbs u haul trailer from Montana to North Carolina. Still going strong 💪
I have a 2011 2.5 escape with 211k original everything. I change the oil every 3,500 miles also drain and refill the trans 3 times every 60k. The fuckin thing drives like it has 80k not 211k The only problem i have with mine is the ac system ive had it looked at twice and both times it would work for a couple weeks after it was “fixed” and then would stop working and sometimes only work when its below 82 degrees. My thoughts is its the compressor because when the compressor pully does engage i hear a metal rattling noise under the hood.
I own a 2012 Ford Escape Limited 2.5, bought it used aboit a year ago with 118,000 miles on the odometer. So far it has been a great vehicle, reliable and fairly cheap to maintain. I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for reliability. Besides, 3rd Gen has the best boxy looks of all the generations 👌🏻

The 2012 and older Ford Escape has ground clearance, squareness and interior cargo height to make it unsurpassed. I had a 2009 V6 6 speed AWD that got 326,000 miles until rust got the best of it and made it an expensive fix. I then bought a 2012 V6 6 speeed AWD. With agressive tires, it goes anywhere and it has more interior cargo height than myTelluride, and the seats fold perfectly flat and level for dog crates.
Scotty makes it so much fun to learn about vehicles. It honestly doesn't matter what he talks about, I can listen to it.
Except that since the election last year he has gotten pretty political, talking about how bad the government is in terms of the transport and auto sector. He never complained so much before the election. Wish he was less political

Taurus was a great car! Then Ford quit making them. Did the same thing with the Ranger. Ford execs hate being successful.

I have a 2016 Ford Escape. It was in an car crash and took it like a tank. Still driving it as we speak. Good vehicle I would say.

I had an 03 ford escape that I literally drove until the wheels fell off with over 200k miles on it I had to scrap it because the whole undercarriage was rusted out and it was dangerous to drive
I have an 03 with 255k and the back subframe is starting to rust I may get another year out of it. Other than that it’s a great running and driving escape.

Did your rear passenger shock mount rust out?Was a major problem,but Ford only replaced 2001-2004 models.
Rear Upper Shock Mounts totally RUSTED OUT, in the Rust Belt. Becarefull purchasing Escapes.

We had a 2005 Mercury Mariner. It is still going good on second transmission and factory motor. I did replace all the control arms 2 years ago. The oldest kids have it now.
Ford escape is definitely the better vehicle for long life. If you get rid or your vehicle after the warranty or lease then test drive both and see which you like better.
The body work doesn't hold , especially their rear undercarriage... I wish to get a Suzuki Vitara the sports edit but they still having a price tag very steep for an older vehicle...
Still happy with my 2003 Escape after 18 years. 3.0 L V6 runs great, especially after taking some "spray cleaner" to my MAF, IAC valve and throttle body.

Check your upper rear shock mounts before putting any money in your 2003. You have to take off the plastic panels in the cargo area. I'm not anti-Ford just do it for Safety.👍
My 2012 2.5L Escape now has 255k Miles and is still running strong. The only time I saw a CEL was when I needed to replace an ABS sensor, as a rock hit it.
I'm a big fan of the Flex. That thing is so cool looking to me! Its one of the few cars that looks good with chrome accents IMO.
I’ve always thought that the Ford Flex looks too much like a hearse. Same thing for the Chevy Suburban.
Look good ride good. Useful with third row seats. 3.5 mileage isn't great for a car that size. Same trans issues as the Ford Edge.

Drove my 2012 Ford Escape 4 cylinder with 74,000 miles on it across the country when I moved. No major mechanical issues ever. Done all my own oil changes/repairs. It is starting to sweat a little oil from the pan though.
I love my 2011 Ford Escape V6. I wish the new version was a little more rugged and less "Car" like, but I rented one on vacation and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I have a 2017 Escape SE with the 2.0 liter Turbo, Cold Weather package, & SYNC 3 technology. I’ve driven it 65K so far and have to say I love this vehicle. Just a pleasure to drive. I did put the 8yr/150K top line warranty on it because I’ve never had a turbo before but so far so good.
The 2009 Rogue my wife was driving when we were dating was a huge piece of garbage. It looked nice, it was very comfortable, but the CVT crapped out at 70k miles. We sold that thing to CarVIO and upgraded to a 2004 Toyota Highlander.
Unfortunately for you this is more proof Scotty is right when he says Nissans have the worst CVT transmissions.
My 09 rogue awd has slightly less than 130k mi.
No problems but I dont drive alot. I am hesitant to go out of town in it.

Had my 01 Ford Escape v6 since brand new. 220K on it and still going strong.
I used to work on the Escape/Tribute/Mariner assembly line when they were built in Kansas City (til 2012) amazing machines. Best non F-150 vehicle made by Ford in my opinion.

I think my '05 V6 FWD Mariner was built in Ohio. Duratec engine seems to last.
Why is car complaints filled with bad reviews on every 2005-2015 escape then?
Have a 2011 XLT and a 2012 Limited...both over 100k on them without any issues.
At first I didn't like the look of the new escape but it grew on me and I think its one of the best looking vehicule in its segment.
I bought an 08, 4 cyl in 2012 with 43k miles in it. Now it's reaching 200k and been in many road trips. It's been a great car overall. Only major issue was the flex plate broke. But I did the replacement myself so i saved money there. Other than that the transmission and motor area till running. Now i got me another one and gave my original one to my dad. I got another 08 ($2400, 155k) but this time with a 6cyl. It runs better than my original 4cyl. This one had an issue with a tension band inside the transmission that thankfully to YT, I was able to fix in about 3 hours. Now it's running good. I just like the functionality of these trucks and the gas savings for being a small suv.

i have one too and i’ve always wanted to ask someone else that owns one, do you always find it to be ridiculously slow when accelerating from a stop??? it’s always bothered me so much since i got it and i’ve wondered if they’re all like that. maybe it’s cause mine is 4 wheel drive idk
I just bought an 08 V6 with 142k miles on it. Only needed suspension work. Costed me a penny to repair it but hopefully I can get a lot of life out of it. It runs like a champ though with no check engine light on it. Some pop up rust on it also
@@jeebsneeb8054 if it's a 4 cylinder the acceleration will be pretty slow no matter what, the v6 version is pretty quick tho. But it shouldn't matter about the 4wd because it's front wheel until you put it in 4wd.
I own a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium with the 2.0L engine. It has about 77,000 miles. I have taken great care of it and it drives and shifts well. Unfortunately the 2 items I did have to replace on it was the AC compressor at about 67,000 miles (luckily under an extended warranty I had) and just last week I replaced the backup camera myself with an aftermarket which seems better than the OEM. I hope I have many more miles with this vehicle as it is fun to drive.
How about shifting delay and transmission issues?

After looking and looking for a used escape 4 cyl- couldnt go past the black V6 tribute we found, for a 10 yr old car- it never looked dated, looked kinda tough and one of the most fun used vehicles I’ve ever owned ( well, co-owned) - we paid 4200 bucks, the wife drove for three yrs ( 40 th kilometres) we sold it to our son for 15 hundy, he drove it like an 18 year old for 3 yrs- a lot on beaches and other stuff it wasnt “really” built for,he drove from sydney to cambera once a month and often from canberra to the south coast-then he sold it for 1200 bucks with a busted engine mount and a shot wheel bearing or two- the dude who bought it was stoked!- what a great design

I have a 2014 Escape SE with the 2.0L turbo as my second vehicle for the snow ect.I have no problems with love it.
I own the 2006 Ford Escape XLT with the 3.0L V6 and for a diehard Chevy as I WAS, I honestly am very impressed at the toughness of my Escape. Now I have owed this SUV for 6 years now and have gotten to the point where the toughness of the SUV has become a thing of comfort for me. What I mean by that is when you go out to your vehicle and get use to just turning the key and putting into drive and leaving means a lot of someone. Just plain old it runs comes to mind…………….kinda like Fender guitars are to the music world. They might not be the flashiest and sexiest but man do they take a pounding and keeping going forward.
The first generation Ford Escapes we're awesome, although they had some transmission issues they were still cool

We always lease fords, but that rust on the 2nd gens is brutal. We still lease for my wife but I decided on a 3rd gen crv due to the horrible rust issues on the 2nd gen escapes.

I was looking at a second gen Escape for my wife and liked the body style... like a smaller explorer... but after doing some research on the rust issue, I had to go with a used Rav4. If I did not live in the salt belt, I might have considered it. Still, I am putting a coat of FluidFilm on the undercarriage within the next couple of weeks.

I love my 09 5speed escape. It has its little problems but it’s never let me down. Fun with the 5spd. I blacked The stock Wheels and tinted the windows and it actually looks pretty good with the base cream color.

I currently have the 2020 escape and I love it! It's a lease and I'm considering buying it. Good fuel economy ( except when it's bitter cold) Great in snow and fun to drive.
We still have our 2001 Escape xlt. 251k miles and showing no signs of slowing down. The service interval is kept at 3k miles. I don't believe in stretching them out to the recommended 5k miles. Ours is the 3.0 V6 with auto trans. The only issue is it's a little noisy inside. Could use more sound deadening. Other than that we love it.
Yes I knew the Mazda & Ford collaborated on the Escape. It was the Mazda Tribute on their side.

Just bought a 2021 Escape Hybrid. No complaints and the gas mileage has been awesome!
My 2007 Escape Hybrid has been a GREAT vehicle. Still going strong at about 270,000 miles. The repairs have been limited, and generally were known issues with inexpensive replacement parts.
I loved my 2006 Escape Hybrid. I only traded it in, because parts were scarce. I traded it in for a 2020 SE Sport Hybrid. While the Gen4 has been called ugly by some, I’ve had plenty of people walk up to me and compliment it. And while the 2020 model year was apparent beset with reliability issues, my SE Sport Hybrid has had no issues. Even Consumer Reports on its Talking Cars said the Escape hybrid models are “the Escape done right.”
In one of my previous jobs 2 escapes went up in flames in the work garage. People walking around noticed smoke starting to come out from one of them and slowly it got worst and worst till the car was fully up in flames. Then, Just 2 weeks later another one combust when my coworker tried to start it up. I think they where older 1.5 liter versions known it have engine fire recalls. Everyone used to say if your buying the escape don’t get the 1.5 liter engine. Wasn’t till a few years later when Ford finally fixed a fluid leak that was starting the fires.
First I ever heard of them catching fire 🤔
Those are the newer post 2012 escapes, the older pre 2013 escapes are nearly faultless

I have a 2012 3.0 L V6 Ford Escape and I've had it for 4 months and put 5,000 miles on it and 0 issues. I love it, and I great about 22 mpg!
2001 ford escape, 5spd manual with 265k miles and still going although suspension is wearing out. I don't hesitate to drive it on long trips, it has been very dependable.
We have a 2009 escape hybrid. Gas/battery..mileage 27 summer 29 to 31 winter. Slower takeoff than we like, but super reliable in even horrible weather. 220,000 miles.
Hate the soy seats (yes, soy) had to get seat covers or you get a sore behind.
The driver area is tight for leg space if you are over 6'. But has been great for us.
I change the oil every 3,000 to 3,500 miles...I want it to last to 450,000 miles...just to make my dealer sigh when I drive past the new car lot...lol.
Do you know of anything being done with the bad escape eco boost engines burning coolant?
Don't know much about the later models, but I have a 2003 Tribute 4WD and the only bad things I can find about it have been the paint job didn't last very long, the fabric glued onto the interior of the doors became "unglued" and the radio digital display doesn't work. Other than that it has been a fantastic vehicle and serves well in the snowy mountain areas in California. I didn't realize the relationship with Ford until I buckled a seatbelt and noticed it had a Ford tag on it. Then I saw a Ford Escape and other than a few body or bumper differences, seemed to be pretty much identical. Reminded me of Nova and Corolla in the mid to late 80's...pretty much the same vehicles with identical dashboards.
I have a 2006 XLT V6 Escape with 210K miles. I love the look and its compact size. It is very comfortable and ergonomically designed, easy to drive/park and is nimble. The intelligent AWD works great up here in the pacific north-west. Parts are still easy to find from Ford, and a lot of the parts have been updated.
I will say this. Change the transmission fluid every 30k. The CD4E filter is internal and cannot be serviced. I would also recommend changing the PTU oil every year due to lack of oil capacity. It holds less than a quart. One last thing... If the vehicle is in solid condition, coat the rear wheel wells with Fluid Film or with something similar a few times a year to prevent shock tower rust. CHECK FRONT BRAKE HOSES FOR CRACK!!!!
My Escape averages 22 mpg combined.
I bought a 2019 Ford Escape 2.0 EcoBoost and man that thing flies off the lights. Its white in color and has no EcoBoost badging and has cloth interiors with the Sync 3 system. So a very sleeper like appearance until you cross 2000 rpm!
I have a 2011 3.0 V6 Escape I've been up many mountains with it travelled all across British Columbia and Alberta many times. Still going strong with regular maintenance and not being hard on the transmission great vehicle with 270000 km

@@AmyB. yes it's all wheel drive if you do buy it makes sure you get someone to see if the transmission oil and other fluids are good. Not a bad idea to change the oil on front and back differentials. And be easy on the transmission that is the weak point of the escapes if you don't drive like a madman you will be okay.
@@nav7881 The transmission on my 2010 Escape has an internal oil filter that can't be changed unless you open up the transmission case. It's very important to drain and fill the fluid every 30,000 miles in these to keep that filter from plugging up and toasting the transmission.
Mine has the 4 cylinder and I have driven I-70 through the Rockies a couple of times and it has no problems powering up the steep grades. It was a pleasant surprise.

Same experience here. Wife got a brand new v6 4wd escape in 2011. 88,000 miles later and only problem is a speaker went bad.
We have the 2012 Ford Escape with the v6 and it gets around really good and gets pretty decent mileage and isn’t to slow either
We love our 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. The only two issues are TPMS bad and ECM complains of slow vacuum leak. But the AWD handles like a dream in heavy snow
My grandpa bought a 2008 ford escape hybrid from our neighbor 8 years ago. Battery died 5 years ago and we replace it with a refurbrished one. After that, still having no trouble at all. The freaking car is fun to drive and it is running like a clock with 220k miles on it 😅

Two months ago, I bought a silver 2008 Ford Escape XLT V6 for $4K with around 151K miles on it. Initially I thought that I rushed into buying it but so far, I love it! Granted it did give me trouble with the start ignition switch as it seems to be a common issue, it has since been resolved. I love the black interior luxury feel and spaciousness of the car, especially the trunk. The car didn't have backseat headrests, so I bought used from a junkyard, just $20. My only gripe is the fuel efficiency. Recently, I took it to a local mechanic for a whole diagnostic check and I need new sparkplugs and coil for Cylinder 5 (it was misfiring, but bought new coils and sparkplugs online), a driver side lower control arm, alignment, and a transmission/brake fluid flush. Apparently my battery was weak, so I'm looking at getting a new one with AAA just in case. I'm learning more about this car as I go and being a New Englander, I'm curious to see how it handles snow!

I’ve leased the 2016, 2018 and now have a 2020 Ford Escape… all of them were amazing and reliable cars with the amazing Sync program. My 2020 is amazingly fast! Put it on the “S” mode and it flies! I love it!
Bought a 2020 Escape Titanium 2.0 turbo AWD and it is hands down the quickest in the class. The fuel economy is good too (27-28 mpg most tanks).

Went from a 2005 Tribute to a 2010 V6 4WD Escape. Preferred the peppy 4-speed in the Tribute, but the Escape is still pretty good with power. Paint is fading, but otherwise it's holding up well. I'm the second owner. Fun to take off the beaten path.

I just got the 2021 Ford Escape with the base engine. Gas mileage is important to me and it definitely hits the mark. The Rouge is good too. I’m surprised the Nissan/Samsung partnership wasn’t mentioned with the Rouge

We bought a 2020 Lincoln Corsair Reserve. It's built off the Escape. It has 2.0 liter 4 Cy and 8 speed trans. Very solid and Quite car. Just got back from a trip and averaged a little over 30 MPG on the Highway. Running 75 mph

I had a Ford escape once I loved it got almost 300,000 miles before I got rid of it and I figured out why they called it the escape because about 240,000 miles all the door handles stop working and you literally had to escape from it.
I had a ford taurus that the door handles would just decide not to function properly. If you pulled both handles from inside and outside the door at the same time you could sometimes get it. Other times I'd be driving down the road and one rear door would refuse to latch shut.
I remember being obsessed with the Ford Escape Hybrid as a teen because in 2007 it was the only 5-seater SUV hybrid (Toyota Higherlander was 7 seater)

I had a 2005 Ford Escape XLT V6 FWD. It did really good for being a crappy, never maintained car. I spent like $500 to make it run perfect. Best first suv ever had. It also did really good in snow.
My wife bought new a 2008 Escape V-6. It was a great car until it was totaled in an accident. The only problem it ever had was an o-ring that would let coolant leak when it was below 20* Fahrenheit. When it was warm outside, it was fine. We replaced it and as luck would have it, it was out of warranty when it started leaking! 🥴 Our daughter had a 2013 Escape and it was a P.O.S. She drove it when she lived in Houston and it started to $100 dollar her to death. She bought a Rav 4 to replace it and loves the Toyota!
I have a 2010 Ford Escape Limited with the 3.0 liter. It runs like a champ with 230,000 miles. It’s needed a few things replaced (abs module and water pump) but it runs like an absolute champ and has many modern amenities. I love that car!
We have a big fleet of vehicles where I work. Mostly Van's, SUVs and cars from the big 3 and some toyota priuses. The escapes have been some of the best vehicles we've had as far as reliability. They don't seem to develop squeaks and rattles as bad either. I'm guessing our escapes are 20% hybrid and 80% 4-cyl. No V6's. The ones I've driven were 07 & 08 models.

I bought a ford escape 2nd generation 2011 because I expect it to last longer than the newer models but the mpg on this escape is way lower MPG in real life than the MPG rated online.
I recently bought a 2011 Ford escape XLT, it gets 25-28 mpg. I bought it used. The previous owner really babied it! Looks brand new inside and out.
