The only difference between automotive and welding coolants is a guarantee that the welding coolant was made of distilled water, not a tap water. However, a quality automotive coolant might be made of distilled water as well, so there is nothing wrong to use it in a torch cooler. Technically, you can find such coolant and test its conductivity before usage, or just buy a dedicated coolant.

Find ya a nice six wheel mobility scooter knock the chair off build lower stand set that cooler on it then the welder above it . Use the foot part of the scooter for the gas tank. If ya feel froggie you can set up a remote controlle and drive the welder around. Works awesome rolls over air lines even ¹ in garden hoses . The nices thing is its suspension. Keep the circut boards in these igbt welders from getting jard around from hard wheels on a cheep cart .

Haha that's a good idea! I actually mounted mine to a large steel cart with 2 cylinders that I also have my mig welder on as well too.

@TDM speaking from experience and seeing that you posted this two months ago. I suggest you drain all that coolant out flush it out and just run distilled water or proper tig coolant after some time. Why. Well the effects that the power running through the torch head has on the electrolysis does to the coolant it fucks it up. Makes it gel and ruins your torch after time. Just a heads up. Other wise never see a. Guy ramble on about a basic piece of equipment before haha.

Well I'm very good at rambling, but I can't run straight water cause it freezes in my shop, I thought about the proper tig coolant but I'll stick with this for now and see how it goes

@@tdm8817 so got one better for you since you don’t believe me. And think of why water heaters have Anode rods in the tank. The mineral stick to it when it gets heated as they become settled in the tank right. That happens on a much worse degree in your tig torch when you use automotive. Because of the electricity. Not the heat. But use that Pink RV antifreeze. It’s non toxic you can actually drink it. It’s used to winterize the plastic lines in RV’s. Instead of tap water. I use this in my tig cooler. 2 years no. Now discoloring or issues. CK worldwide doesn’t recommend it for their warranty sake with the copper wire but said there are no issues with their customers running it. You can dilute it also. Use 1:4 antifreeze and distilled water. Walmart sells it. It’s about $3 a gallon in California for it.

The problem with using auto antifreeze is the electric conductive. I switch to conteso from Amazon and I use water wetter for I am in Florida and it drops down 10° with it.

Well I'm not in Florida and it can get -40 in my shop l, hence the need for a coolant good to that temp.

@@tdm8817 when a hose pops as you are running it, you will probably change your mind :)

@@elemenofone Almost a year later now and still working good. Are you suggesting that the coolant will degrade the hoses?
