in my book it says that theres the common ancestor then 2 branches which are bacteria and archea then later on eukaryotes evolved from both these categories through endosymbiosis
Both eukaryotes and prokaryotes have chromosomes (Coiled DNA). But they differ in their structure and organisation. Prokaryotes have a SINGLE circular DNA molecule/chromosome (meaning the DNA strands span to form a loop) located in the nucleoid (not surrounded by membrane). In addition the DNA of prokaryotes is not associated with HISTONES (hence called naked DNA). Some prokaryotes may contain an additional SMALL circular piece of DNA called a plasmid. A plasmid is NOT necessary and only SOME prokaryotes have it (helps with certain special adaptations). Eukaryotes have MULTIPLE linear DNA molecules/chromosomes (number depends on species) located in the nucleus (surrounded by a membrane). In addition the DNA of eukaryotes is associated with HISTONES, which help to organize and supercoil DNA. I hope this helps!
you are literally saving my life ib is so hard 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
thank you so much please keep ongoing

Since prokaryotes don’t have chromosomes like eukaryotes, Is the plasmid the prokaryotes’s version of a chromosome?
