You have to appeal to your audience but also do what you want to do, and have a clear narrative and purpose. I feel that’s very subjective (different people have different preferences l) but for early date kissing I would definitely lean towards closed eyes so you can really be present to the connection of your bodies... the open eye kissing is a very intimate and intense experience, it may overwhelm a guy if it’s done too soon!
