Cute couple. Never thought of the Prius as a camping platform, but there seems to be a whole culture growing up around it, and it makes me want to get one and go on some frugal adventures.
Re having to have the windows open when raining. You can keep the car running really as it will alternate between battery and fuel, and the ac will run mostly on the battery, i have noticed a lot of prius owners here on you tube mention it as well as its one of the advantages of the prius.

We have the Yakima round bars with the Q towers! It’s definitely a cheaper solution as you can find them used, but you have to get the right clips. The clips are expensive because they aren’t made anymore. We’re actually selling ours, so if you’re anywhere near Portland I’d be happy to sell it to you! Shoot us a message on Instagram.
If you plan to camp, travel with a pet, or just want to save fuel, buy a white vehicle, if it's too late, paint the roof and whatever goes on it bright white. Absorbing 1000 watts per square yard with a black vehicle makes life rough.

Can you put everything inside and still have room to sleep ? Even with cheap enough gas a big battery with a built in charger, is so cool. And wait for it, you can drive it. 46 MPG.....
We had a 105 in the back, with the seats folded down it took about about half of the back. Would definitely fit with the seats up if you put it horizontally
Yeah, it’s just too loud for us. The engine kicking on every 30 minutes or so startles us awake, ha. So we’ll run the heat before we go to bed but we turn it off before actually falling asleep

Do you believe yourselves to be more sensitive sleepers or do you think most people would find it loud or disturbing? I sleep like a rock but my wife doesn’t. Thank you for the response!
Oh I think we’re just light sleepers. There’s plenty of folks who run it all night and don’t have any issues! Our Prius is pretty old and high mileage so the engine is pretty noisy, so not sure if that’s the case with others but I think most people would probably be fine.

Cool setup! You've got a lot of amenities and a roof cargo, what's the impact to your mpg?
We've moved on from the Prius so I don't remember exact numbers, but we were usually getting around 32-35 MPG average for the most part.

We do not unfortunately. We moved on from the Prius before we decided to do it

No modifications for us! There is Prius Off-road that offers 1.5 inch spacer lift, which is a fairly inexpensive option.

We do! He sleeps in the car with us, he’s pretty small so he fits between us ha
