The CX-30 is my goldilocks car. Big enough and tall enough to not feel like I will get squashed like a bug by the other trucks on the road, but small enough to fit comfortably in my tiny garage, and a breeze to park. I traded in a CX -5 and find the 30 much more comfortable. I have long legs, and never drove a car without adjusting the seat as far back as possible. When I got in the 30, I actually moved the seat a bit forward! The lumbar adjustments are the bomb. No kids, so I don't care about the rear seat room. And the RED is the most beautiful color on the road.

I bought the 2024 Mazda CX-30 S AWD, which is the base model. No complaints or buying remorse whatsoever! it is the perfect city car hands down! the base engine is shared by its sister, the CX-5. I test drive both of them before making my decision; and felt no difference between the two; except the most obvious; the interior space. For a single or a coupled guy like myself, no kids; the CX-30 meet all my needs. For the build quality, and the driving dynamics; it is a bargain!!

My wife and I test drove a CX-50 and the CX-30. CX-30, although smaller, is a much higher quality experience and product than the CX-50. Interior is nicer. Much quieter on the road. We have yet to test drive the CX-5, but will do so later in the year.

I might make the 2023 CX-30 my first car, been looking for something new. In this market all prices are high but for around 25k for the 191 Hp and automatic transmission, plus good safety ratings. This might be the best choice, especially for the price.

I have one of these and my biggest issue is the cabin noise. Various rattles and I only have 2,000 miles on mine. Took it to the dealer but they weren't able to fix the issue.
Other than that, it's a nice car for the price. Definitely punches above it's weight class.
UPDATE: I took it to the dealer again and they were able to fix the rattles. Everything good for a couple weeks now, so hoping it's fixed for good. I'm really starting to enjoy this car again.

Thanks for a nice review, guys. As to the 2 mpg bump with the 2023 model, it is probably due to the fact that for 2023, Mazda has added Cylinder Deactivation (CD) to the non-turbo engine. The CX-30 fit my needs/preferences better than the CX-5 or CX-50, so I went with a 2022 CX-30 Carbon Edition 13-14 months ago. No build issues or problems to report. I would likely think twice if I had to get a 2023 model though, since Mazda finally also added cylinder-deactivation technology to all their CX-30's starting in 2023.

@@phillyspecial9866 None of the 2022 CX-30 have it, but some of the 2021 trims have it (the earlier version of the tech). Mazda redesigned/tweaked the tech somewhat & started putting cylinder-deactivation back into the CX-30 again in 2023. So, the 2022 CX-30 is the sweet spot to avoid cylinder-deactivation. I have a 2022 CX-30 CE, & no problems/issues whatsoever with anything going on 18 months of ownership thus far. Was looking at the CX-30. Because of better inventory I started looking at the CX-5 and picked up a '23 PP for my wife. They are made in Japan and the build quality is noticeably better. Also, it came with all the equipment we wanted without having to go with the turbo, which has lower fuel economy and more maintenance. This trim level should come with nav but the dealer threw the nav SD card in with the deal. Also, I didn't like the black wheels on PP CX-30s, the CX-5 wheels look a lot better. After 500 miles on the OD we got 33 mpg hand calculated on the second fuel fill up.

Pretty happy with all aspects of this car I think Mazda has hit the right note here. Must admit the variations of the CX30 is mind boggling I watched a review from a guy in Fiji whose vehicle was the very base model and did not come with many of the standard features that our base model comes with but had a sunroof as standard. A little strange but I guess they are targeting each market segment perhaps.

In Australia all of our range are Made in Japan except CX-3 and Mazda 2 which are Made in Thailand. The auto transmission is light years ahead of DCT's or CVT's in reliability. The Skyactiv G engines are also direct injection plus port injection. Mazda Australia note that first inlet manifold inspection is to be done at 100,000 miles so no issues with carbon build up like most other DI engines. The turbo version is not available in Australia due to heat soak issues in such a small engine bay and the placement of the turbo at the rear of the engine.(Turbo replacement also requires full engine out removal!) We have the choice of AWD or FWD and the latter is the best choice as it deletes the central prop shaft, rear differential and clutch plus the two extra drive shafts required for the rear wheels. The fuel economy increase is dramatic with nearly 10mpg better than an AWD, 200lbs less weight and also an extra 5 bhp again as FWD reduce frictional losses compared to driving all four wheels.

It does have it's air balls like the poor 360 visibility out of the windows and I also heard the A/C is decent but isn't very strong during the really hot days (90+). To answer that question, lets see what sold in 2023? Year to date as of November 16, 2023 the CX-5 has sold 125,390 in the USA - the #14 selling car in the country and the top selling Mazda. The CX-30 sold 65,210 and isthe second best selling Mazda. According to sales figures, people still prefer the CX-5 to any other Mazda by a very large margin. It is why unlike the CX-3 and CX-9, Mazda is going to redesign this car in 2025 and not discontinue it - they would lose too many sales if they dropped the model like the other ones.

Thank you so much for the review, but I have to mention hat everyone does the legroom differently and it's not very helpful. I hope you guys can improve and discuss the distance between the bottom front of the rear seat and the front seat, and then again the place where you rest your buttocks/lower back and the back of the front seat. Not everyone has the same leg length, so someone who is the about same height but has longer legs, might feel cramped, while someone with a taller upper body vs shorter legs might feel perfectly fine but then they would prefer more headroom. Just a suggestion and I hope it can help you improve your reviews. Thanks again for taking the time to review CX30.
One of the bigger issues is that no USB in the back, I don't know why they didn't add it. I think you have 2 in the front (1 under center console one in storage box) but can easily improve by adding charing port USB that has 2-3 ports.
Regarding cargo area, somehow it has pretty good storage with seats folded compared to competition. I think even more than Taos which is actually bigger.

This vehicle has none of the new modern 'woke' car features:
    Fake/hidden exhaust

    Fake vents.... etc.

Why use the word woke to describe features in a car?

    • @EazybakeEvan
      @EazybakeEvan ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Julian Davis good question. I feel alot of these features are part of the 'environmentalist scam' which is often bought into by the 'woke' left. The way it translates into the auto world is with all the emission restriction bs and demand for EVs and hybridization. So now you start to see auto makers try to compensate for their now near-perfect, low emission and efficient combustion engines with things like CVTs, auto start/stop, fake or hidden exhausts, cylinder de-activation (the NA CX-30 has this), and the list goes on.
Sorry to bring politics into it, but politics and business have alot to do with the decisions that these car brands make. And Mazda says EFF the politics, we're gonna make a good car that rivals Lexus and Acura quality for alot less money.
      Just my opinion.

Fiat owns Jeep and that's why they are so cheap now. New Jeeps are basically overpriced rebadged Fiats made in Italy. My friend's wife just bought a new one and it eats a quart of oil every month. The dealership claims nothing is wrong with it so most of them must be like that. My mechanic buddy said to stay away from Jeep because they have all types of problems, especially the new motors. They are cheaply built, the paint/fake chrome chips and the interior starts to fall apart after a couple years because the adhesives they used are junk. They look cool when they are brand new but they start falling apart as soon as they are driven off the lot.

It's like clockwork for them. If their vehicles were reliable like they used to be then they wouldn't sell as many of them because there would be no incentive for their vehicle owners to buy new ones if their older models were still operating without any major issues. There engineering is so precise that it generates the most revenue as possible for them.
