@@katieq3635 Our English class did this in 1976. We groaned. We spent 5 lessons a week for 6 weeks wading through this near unintelligible script from another age. Pure torture, but the characters and events had been loaded into our brains and just a spark was needed.
The following week, we saw "The Scottish Play" in a theatre, by professional actors with proper sound, light & special effects.
It was a transformation, a revelation - it suddenly all made sense, and I was spellbound! The greatest story ever written!
"Macbeth" completely changed my opinion about Shakespeare and Literature, and lead to so much more enjoyment in reading & plays in my life since.
And this version is nothing short of spectacular!
Mind you, the language could be updated a little to improve its accessability, but I don't think anyone dares to tamper with it.... after all, "The Scottish Play" is CURSED!

If you haven't already, you should see Polanski's version. It have most of the dialogue and follows the play beat by beat but he also does logical changes like making the soliloquies into internal monologues and doing interesting things with the Ross character. It is also the most believable take on the story even though they look later medieval than in reality the story would be (Macbeth was 11th Century, the movie looks like the early 14th).

This is a real incident i am about to share, it took place when i was in the middle school, doing literature, our teacher literally explained in a horrible way the book Macbeth, which she told us to translate to an understanding language, as lessons went by, we translated the entire book, semester exams came and i knew i was screwed up, yes definitely, whether it was a monthly test or a semester exam i never got good grades for literature, it was always bellow 35, well the time went by, and this time it was my O/L GCE exam that i had to do, my teacher, named Ms Dipthi, she told me son, the way you performed in class, i know you wont get through it, but good luck, that was her message to me. Yes some will say shes rude af, exactly and the reason she hated me so much because i just need little bit more explanation and so, well around a week before the exam i found out that there was a film named Macbeth, holy crap, you know what i did next, watched the entire movie the same moment i found it, and oh boy the language they used was 99:100 similar to the book, and the movie, it went exactly as per the book, oh boy, i saw my miracle here, watched the movie for atlist 4 times to remember each scene, that was my winning point, in the exam who ever has done Cambridge O/L’s in 2018, know that there was a whole question for 50 marks asking about Macbeth, well i wrote whatever I remembered from the film, since per the book i could not visualise it and had no great idea about exact story. The big exam finished, was waiting for the results, the time i received them via online, my mood went from down to up, you will not believe me, i got a 74/100 for the exam, oh boy, to be honest this movie saved me from failing a GCE exam in middle school. Thank you Macbeth and at the same time f u too, because you were a headache for me back then.

RANDOM CHILD: But there's four of us.
WITCH 2: When the hurly-burly's done, when the battle's lost and won.
RANDOM CHILD: Hello?! Can someone notice me?!
WITCH 3: That will be 'ere the set of sun.
    RANDOM CHILD: EXCUSE ME!
WITCH 1: Good sisters, afore we wend our sep'rate ways, I have a question.
WITCH 2: Speak! And we will respond.
WITCH 1: Why dost the Second Apparition from Act IV Scene 1 appear now in Act I?
WITCH 2: (to the child) Wherefore, brat? 'Tis not your time to perform, away!
RANDOM CHILD: (folds arms and pouts) Shant.
WITCH 1: Away with you, wretch!
    RANDOM CHILD: Can't make me.
WITCH 3: A drum, a drum, Macbeth doth come!
WITCH 2: (to child) Fly, wretched babe! Thou shalt unravel our plans!
    (Enter MACBETH and BANQUO)
WITCH 1:Too late, sisters! Pretend that the babe is not in our ranks, perchance they will not notice.
BANQUO: What are these, so withered and wild in their attire, that look not like the inhabitants o' the earth and yet are on't?
    WITCH 3: (aside) Rude.
WITCH 1: ALL HAIL, MACBE -
MACBETH: And what does this cute child among their ranks?
    WITCH 1: (facepalm)
CHILD: (whispers to MACBETH) I don't know these people. Help me. I'm scared.
MACBETH: Dost thy mother tell thee not to tarry with strangers?! Come away, child, 'tis no place for one of your years. Let us hence to the king, Banquo, and convey news of the battle.
(Exit MACBETH, BANQUO and CHILD, the former two glowering at the WITCHES, the latter giggling. Beat.)
WITCH 1: Well, sisters, perchance our plan could have gone a little better.
WITCH 2: (Sarcastically) You say not.
WITCH 3: I'm not telling Hecate.
    THE END

What's funny to me is that i always imagined them as the main characters of "Arch of Triumph", the novel from Remarque. They would be excellent duo for the adaptation of "Arch of Triumph", just like they are excellent for "Macbeth" too. Apparently
