      I get that GPUs performance going up every year, but why power consumption? Especially Scamvidia power consumption 450watt. 2022 tech still garbage?

    • @_mrsahem_
      @_mrsahem_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fynkozari9271 Not an expert but this what I know from my experience and research:
      Each new generation of GPUs and their architectures make changes in the number of compute units and cores resulting in bigger die-sizes and power consumption. It's a much linear increase between power and performance than CPUs.
      I can't comment on AMD's 7000 series chiplet design but generally more performance requires more power.
      Correct if I am wrong experts out there.

      If your GPU usage is less than 99%, and it's doing that a lot. Then there's a bottleneck.
      This is not necessarily a bad thing. If, FOR EXAMPLE ONLY, you game at 1080p, your gpu usage is only 50%, BUT you're getting 300 fps; then you have a cpu bottleneck.
      Bc the Gpu is spitting frames faster than the Processor can keep it fed.

Very happy with both, play all sorts of games and little photoshop and manages all with ease. Phil you did an amazing job! Loved your take on the new cards. Would have liked to have seen a direct comparison on temps with the 4080. While I believe the Radeon cards are the better buy (unless nvidia responds with a price cut) if the 4080 does significantly better on thermals, then that opens overclocking capabilities a little more. Otherwise, looks like amd knocked it out of the park this time.

    • @sirmonkey1985
      @sirmonkey1985 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AIB cards is where the overclocking will shine since most of them will run larger coolers with triple 8 pin.. AMD's sticking to what reference cards are suppose to be and that's the minimum performance you should see with that card.

      @@sirmonkey1985 I would normally agree with you, but nvidia has definitely blurred those lines with this gen. They now use binned chips with a good cooler, so I feel that should be factored in. Couple that with aib cards being the size of a ps5… it’s just been a messy generation.
